Patent number: 8425139Abstract: A sheet holder for holding a sheet of paper and exposing an edge of the sheet, has a press for holding the paper sheet and exposing the edge, and a lever for operating the press. The lever is movable between a released position for placing of the edge of the paper sheet in the press and a holding position for operating the press. There is also an abutment for abutment by the edge of the paper sheet to position the edge relative to the press while the lever is in the released position. The abutment is associated with the lever for moving away from the edge of the paper sheet when the lever moves towards the holding position, thereby exposing the edge of the paper sheet.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2009Date of Patent: April 23, 2013Inventor: Stephen Kwok Ki Chan

Patent number: 7874758Abstract: A binding device having a binding member that operates at a binding position of objects to be bound has a structure with which the bound objects do not readily come off. The binding device includes a board having a bearing plate. A spring member and an operation lever are attached to a shaft inserted in the bearing plate and a turned-up part. Protruding pieces of a binding member are inserted in through holes of turned-up parts formed in the board. One end of the spring member is secured to the operation lever, and the other end is fitted in a through hole of a turned portion at the distal end of the binding member. By closing the operation lever, the binding member rotates around a line connecting the protruding pieces at both ends, thereby pressing down sheets of paper placed on the board with a pressing portion. At this time, the other end of the spring member presses the turned portion, thereby biasing the pressing portion.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2005Date of Patent: January 25, 2011Assignee: Lihit Lab., Inc.Inventors: Kanji Tanaka, Hiroshi Arai, Hiroyuki Yamashita

Patent number: 7648302Abstract: A ring mechanism for retaining loose-leaf pages comprises a housing, hinge plates, and ring members mounted on the hinge plates for retaining pages on the mechanism. An actuating lever is pivotally mounted on the housing for engaging the hinge plates and pivoting them to selectively move the ring members between an open position and a closed position. A travel bar is operatively connected to the lever for selective movement between a position in which locking elements of the travel bar block the pivoting movement of the hinge plates and a position in which the travel bar allows the hinge plates to pivot. The lever is configured to deform when pivoting the hinge plates to close the ring members to delay movement of the travel bar and locking elements to the blocking position from the onset of pivoting motion of the hinge plates.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2006Date of Patent: January 19, 2010Assignee: World Wide Stationery Mfg. Patent number: 6663310Abstract: The primary object of the present of invention is to provide a button binder in which paper or sheets can be easily retained and moved out, which exclude the above-mentioned disadvantages. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the button binder includes several buttons, connection pieces, pulling pieces, a front sheet, a rear sheet and strips. An appropriate number of the buttons are fixed on the appropriate position on the binder, such as on the left portion or top portion of the rear sheet. The buttons mainly compromises a cap and a post. The cap has an axial hole. The post is capable of engaging in the axial hole of the cap and being fastened tightly. Punched papers or sheets can be hold by the post under the cap. When paper in the button binder is opened, there is big force to open the buttons. In order to secure the paper tightly, the buttons are designed to be opened only in a proper direction or site, and the buttons can not be opened in non-proper direction or site.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 2001Date of Patent: December 16, 2003Inventor: Nanlin Han

Patent number: 4411544Abstract: A ball lock assembly is provided which permits preconstruction of certain ones of the assembly components. Consequently, the assembly, in kit form, has few parts, and may be integrated simply in a final binder construction by a binder manufacturer. The lock assembly includes a ball lock device having a first and second end. The ball lock device has an axial opening through it. A first end of the ball lock device receives a post of a suitable loose leaf metal used in the manufacture of a complete binder while the second end is constructed to permit attachment of a pull ring. The lock device includes a lock extension having a ball container movably mounted in it. A retaining sleeve is positioned between an internal diameter of the lock extension and an external diameter of the ball container. The sleeve permits the preassembly of the various parts of the ball lock device so that the lock assembly may be sold in kit form.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1981Date of Patent: October 25, 1983Assignee: Loose Leaf Metals Company, Inc.Inventor: Joseph L. Patent number: 4405250Abstract: An adjustable looseleaf binder is provided for the accumulation of sheets of hole punched paper and the like. This binder has an elongated base plate to which are attached one end of a plurality of flexible binding posts. The second ends of the binding posts are releasably held in the base plate by various clamping mechanisms thereby providing an adjustable loop of any desired size. This loop threads through the hole, or selected holes, of material to be held in the binder. A foldable sheet provides for the top, edge and bottom cover of the binder. This sheet has prescored lines therein to permit folding to achieve the desired dimensions of the binder and holes to accept the binding posts. As the contents of the binder are changed, the cover may be folded at other prescored lines to accommodate this change. The components of the binder may be readily shipped in a compact manner and assembled by the user to achieve a binder of desired size.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1981Date of Patent: September 20, 1983Inventor: Kuoeng F.
