  • Patent number: 6241415
Abstract: A device for holding a container includes an elongated handle. An adjustable band is mounted at one end, and has two sections which project from opposite sides, of the handle. The two sections overlap to form a loop, and each section is provided with a series of openings. A clip receives the overlapping sections and comprises a detent which can be moved into and out of the openings. The band is flexible, and the overlapping sections of the band can be shifted relative to one another to change the diameter of the loop. When the diameter has been adjusted, the detent is passed through registering openings of the overlapping sections to fix the sections with respect to each other. An anchoring bar is also mounted on the handle and is movable radially of the loop between a retracted position inside the handle and an extended position in which the bar projects into the loop. The bar stabilizes a container which is gripped by the band.

Abstract: The present assembly provides a coupling element for an adjustable hand lever mechanism. The coupling element having an disk shaped body, an extension and a projection. The disk shaped body has a D-shaped opening extending longitudinally therethrough. The coupling element may be made from a material, e.g., metal, that is harder than the material, e.g., plastic, from which the hand lever is made. The extension of the coupling element protrudes radially outward from the outer circumference of the disk shaped body. The projection is situated outside the disk shaped body of the coupling element and extends upward from the upper surface of the extension in a direction substantially parallel to the D-shaped opening of the disk shaped body. The D-shaped opening allows for ease of manufacturing by using a die having a D-shaped core for molding a hand lever about a coupling element.

Abstract: A safety handle is provided for manually rotating a motor shaft for a stone grinding mill. One end of the handle is curved to encompass a portion of the shaft periphery. A hook at the end of the curved portion fits into the keyway of the shaft. The handle arm extends radially from the shaft with a hand grip at the end opposite the curved portion. When torque is applied to the handle in the direction of normal motor rotation, the curved portion and hook grip the shaft by rotational leverage and transmit the torque to the shaft. If the motor is inadvertently started with the handle on the shaft, inertia and gravity will cause the handle to disengage and roll off from the shaft to prevent damage and injury. The hand grip is attached to the handle so as to allow only manual rotation of the shaft in the normal motor direction. Alternately, the handle is bent transverse to its longitudinal axis to extend outward from the motor and thus enable rotation only when mounted properly on the shaft.
