Patent number: 9166303Abstract: An improved cable connector includes a connector insert having an axial bore dimensioned to receive the core of a reinforced cable. A connector body has a substantially cylindrical outer surface and a substantially cylindrical cavity. A distal portion of the cavity is dimensioned to receive the connector insert. A second portion of the cavity proximally displaced from the distal portion is dimensioned to receive the conductor strands of the cable. The connector body may be configured with one or more additional portions of the cavity having progressively increasing diameters, the number of such portions depending on the size of the cable. Alternatively, the inner surface of the cavity may have a slight taper. Using a single die, the connector body is compressed with a swaging tool at several axially spaced-apart locations to grip the conductor strands and also to grip the connector insert.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2012Date of Patent: October 20, 2015Assignee: DMC Power, Inc.Inventors: Eyass Khansa, Luis Sosa

Patent number: 7448821Abstract: An arrangement for connecting a tubular element to a body extending into the same using a tensioning ring, which, via its inner surface, embraces the outer wall of the tubular element, extends axially along the tubular element, and applies clamping forces thereto such that the tubular element acts via its inner wall on the body situated in the tubular element, clamping the same. The tensioning ring rests against the outer wall of the tubular element with only one axial partial section of its inner surface and exerts a clamping action thereon.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2004Date of Patent: November 11, 2008Assignee: Dr. Johannes Heidenhain GmbHInventor: Hermann Meyer

Publication number: 20040096265Abstract: A joint construction for cable piping provided with an inner cylinder of thin wall pipe and an outer cylinder fitted on the inner cylinder as to freely slide to connect a first pipe for cable to a second pipe for cable as to freely expand and contract in length. A holding ring of a first seal member, tightly fit to a peripheral face of an end portion of the first pipe, a first stop ring of plate, hitching to the peripheral face of the end portion of the first pipe, and an opening end forming member, are unitedly fit by plastic working of an end of the inner cylinder. A holding groove of a second seal member, fit to a peripheral face of an end portion of the second pipe, is formed by plastic work of another end of the inner cylinder. A second stop ring, hitching on the peripheral face of the end portion of the second pipe, and an opening end forming member are unitedly fit by plastic work on an outer end side of the outer cylinder.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2003Publication date: May 20, 2004Applicants: HIGASHIO MECH CO., LTD., NIPPON STEEL CORPORATIONInventors: Hiroshi Inoue, Tamotsu Takada, Tetsumi Kondoh, Yoshihisa Kariyazono

Patent number: 6669395Abstract: A connection structure of a lamp tube comprises a multi-sectional lamp tube having a front lamp tube and a rear lamp tube, a locking rod engaged in the interior of the multi-sectional lamp tube, and a buffer structure engaged to a distal end of the locking rod. The locking rod is a polygonal embedding section and a distal end thereof has a threaded section. The threaded section of the locking rod is inserted into a resisting block of the front lamp tube and then is exactly locked to the locking seat of the rear lamp tube. The middle section of the locking rod has an embedding section. The embedding section has a resisting block. A buffer structure between the locking rod and the resisting block serves to form a tightening buffer section. Thereby, the front lamp tube and rear lamp tube can be adjusted to an aligned position.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2002Date of Patent: December 30, 2003Inventor: Wen-Chang Wu

Patent number: 5820612Abstract: An improved joint for connection of two segments of intravascular catheters of the type having an inner tubular member defining a lumen, an outer tubular member surrounding said inner member, and a support member mounted between the tubular members to provide rigidity to the flexible catheter. The improved joint is also used for connecting a similar type catheter to a desired tip. The preferred embodiment comprises a counterbore in the end of the catheter from which approximately all of the inner tubular member and support member have been removed. The counterbore is adapted to mate with a male portion on either the second catheter or the tip to form an overlap type joint.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1995Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Assignee: SciMed Life Systems, Inc.Inventor: Todd A. Patent number: 5803644Abstract: A reinforced fastening point for a plastics-material casing. In order to provide a reinforcement for a fastening point which is simple to assemble and which is held automatically in the opening in the casing without further fasteners, a cylindrical opening is provided at the fastening point on the casing. The reinforcement part corresponding thereto is constructed as a frustum in that region which in the assembled state comes to rest in the region of the cylindrical opening. The smaller external diameter of this frustum is smaller than or equal to the internal diameter of the cylindrical opening. The larger external diameter of the frustum, on the other hand, has an excess dimension with respect to the internal diameter of the cylindrical opening. In this case, the excess dimension is selected to be such that it can be neutralized by resilient deformation of the reinforcement part.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1997Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: Dr. Ing. h.c.F. Patent number: 5061826Abstract: A narrow elongated housing is provided constructed of an inner ribbed conduit which is overlaid with two layers of high strength rods. Each layer is contra-helically wrapped with opposing end portions compression secured in a termination chamber. The chamber is formed between a sleeve, which is attached to opposing ends of the conduit, and an outer termination enclosure. With the ends of each layer of rods in the chamber, the enclosure is either held stationary, or slid over the upper layers of rod ends. Concurrently, a wedge is either manually placed in the annular space between the layers and held stationary, or it is forced into the annular space between the layers. Any of the above combination of actions will force the rods against the sleeve and enclosure and frictionally secure them. The wedge may be a malleable metal so that it will cold flow about a portion of the rods. A flexible polymer covering is placed over the assembly to complete the housing.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1990Date of Patent: October 29, 1991Assignee: G & H Technology, Inc.Inventors: David B. Patent number: 4327601Abstract: A flexible steering wheel rim having an upper portion with a stack of arcuate leaf springs canted forwardly and toward the steering wheel. The leaf springs are mounted to a seat in the lower portion of the rim which has a flat surface inclined fowardly and toward the center of the steering wheel. A clamp circumscribes the wire and leaf springs and has a rearward wall which is pitched rearwardly and toward the center of the steering wheel. The leaf springs are deformable upon impact in a forward or rearward direction parallel to the axis of the steering wheel. The leaf springs flex when a rear axial force is present such that they become canted rearward and toward the center of the steering wheel.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1978Date of Patent: May 4, 1982Assignee: Ford Motor CompanyInventor: Lloyd R. Patent number: 4139334Abstract: A cable string for replacement of a prior art sucker rod string used in pumping oil wells with a pump jack unit. The cable string is comprised of a plurality of individual joints of multi-strand material connected together by a coupling member. Each individual joint has a pin member at each extremity thereof. Each joint is affixed in series relationship to another joint by the coupling member. The coupling member has a box connection at each extremity thereof. Hence, the pin member of adjacent joints are connected together by the box connection of the coupling member to provide a string of flexible cable joints of sufficient length to extend from proximity of the pump jack downhole through the borehole into proximity of the downhole pump. When a plurality of cable joints are connected together, the resulting length thereof is equivalent to the length of a standard solid metal joint of sucker rod.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1977Date of Patent: February 13, 1979Inventors: Bobby L.
