  • Patent number: 4953640
Abstract: A quick detach bit apparatus includes a wear sleeve having a chuck threaded thereinto. A bit is mounted within the chuck. The bit and chuck are interconnected by mating, axially extending splines and grooves. The chuck includes a resiliently mounted segment urged into engagement with the bit. A quick release tool is accommodated in a passage between the bit and chuck. The tool is inserted into the passage and has a thickness sufficient to urge the segment out of engagement with the bit so that the bit is removed from the chuck.

  • Patent number: 4869614
Abstract: To join a part having a threaded shaft protruding therefrom with a second part having a bore sized to receive the shaft and an intersecting cavity, a housing is provided which rotatably receives a nut. The nut has a circumferentially extending external gear surface and the housing has two nut actuator receptors communicating with its interior at this gear surface of the nut. The housing with nut is received within the cavity of the second part and the shaft of the first part is inserted into the bore in the second part till the shaft abuts the nut. A nut actuator inserted into one of the nut actuator receptors may then be rotated to thread the shaft into the nut and draw the two parts into abutment.

  • Patent number: 4582443
Abstract: In an arrangement for detachable fastening of an end of an elongated member, particularly an end of a foot loop band, in a hole having an undercut, particularly in a sailing borrd, it is suggested that at the end of the elongated member there is a pawl of deformable material which is to be pressed against spring action to the end section of the elongated member leading to the end. During insertion of the end section into the hole, the pawl engages with its end face behind the undercut and thus is secured in the hole.

  • Patent number: 4576402
Abstract: A locking pipe sub is disclosed including a threaded pin connection for engaging, for example, a pipe stuck in a well bore. The threads on the pin are formed in two sections which are adapted to align upon initial make-up of the sub to the stuck pipe, but to misalign, both axially and radially, when reverse torque is applied to the sub. The result is to create axial and radial forces between the threads of the sub and the threads of the stuck pipe which positively lock the sub against disconnection from the pipe except with the use of a releasing tool.

  • Patent number: 4531452
Abstract: A transmitter cylinder is used in a hydraulic system and particularly the ake system of an automotive vehicle. To prevent undesired access into the transmitter cylinder, a lock part is installed at the pedal facing end of the cylinder. The lock part is an annulus. The pedal connected piston extends through the lock part and into the transmitter cylinder. The annular lock part is shaped so that its inner bore will guide and center the piston projecting into the cylinder. A locking element for holding the lock part in the cylinder bore is defined. It is either a radial projection from the lock part or it is a retaining ring held in a groove on the exterior of the lock part. In either case, the locking element projects into a groove defined in the interior of the cylinder bore, which retains the lock part in the cylinder bore against undesired extraction. The lock part may be a hollow annulus or a solid body. The lock part is appropriately configured to permit its extraction with appropriate tools.

  • Patent number: 4300774
Abstract: A plug including an axial shaft, a mating end of which is spring coupled to a mating portion of a sealing plug. The other end of the shaft includes an externally threaded portion and a flanged portion. The sealing plug also includes an externally threaded portion and a flanged portion. The spring normally mates the shaft and sealing plug together so that the members are rotationally engaged. When the spring is suitably compressed, the mating relationship is removed so that the members are rotationally disengaged. • Patent number: 4068960
Abstract: The invention disclosed is a safety lock for a removable shaft which has special utility when disposed on a clevis or like device. The lockable shaft is disposed by means which readily permit free lateral movement while preventing accidental disengagement under load bearing conditions when in the locked position. In an embodiment, shaft removal from a cooperating support member is prevented by a shaft restrictive means. Thus, complete removal of the shaft from support members during load transfer is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4016914
Abstract: A high strength positive locking fastener for securing structural panels together is disclosed. The fastener includes a stud receptacle and a stud assembly. The stud receptacle is mounted on an inner panel spatially fixed with respect to an outer panel and includes an interiorly threaded basket nut with assembled washer fixedly mounted thereon and a cage which is fastened to the inner panel and which movably receives the basket nut and washer assembly. The stud assembly passes through substantially coaxial openings in the panels and then into the basket nut assembly. The stud assembly includes a threaded stud having a bore therethrough containing a spring loaded plunger with a pair of locking balls resting thereon. To engage the fastener and secure the panels together a tool is used to depress the plunger forcing the balls against a reduced plunger diameter and allowing the stud to pass through the panel openings and into the basket nut.
