Patent number: 11066220Abstract: A bungee device includes an elongated shape portion and a cord loop having a pair of cord segments. The elongated shape portion has a flat part on it where the cord loop segments extend therefrom. The cord segment has at least one flat surface that engages the flat part of the elongated shape portion when the bungee device is in use. The cord can include a tab extending from a portion thereof. The tab makes it easier to grasp the cord and stretch it to allow the elongated shape portion to be removed from the space created by the cord segments and release the bungee device from its secured position. The elongated shape portion and cord loop have a one-piece molded construction. The flat part on the elongated shape portion and flat surface on the cord segment can be optional.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2019Date of Patent: July 20, 2021Inventors: Jeffrey L. Patent number: 6536983Abstract: An improved crimp joint for joining components of gas or fluid distribution systems is disclosed. The joint is particularly suited for use with components made from low ductility materials including die cast metals. The joint comprises a flange formed by a first joined component and a second component that defines a second mating surface and a lip that is configured to closely surround at least a portion of the flange when the flange is positioned adjacent to the second mating surface. The joint is formed by deforming the lip to overlie the flange, capturing the flange between the deformed lip and the second mating surface. The flange includes a bead formed near the periphery of the flange on a surface against which the lip is deformed to abut to form the crimp joint. The bead is sized to deform and engage the lip thereby increasing the strength of the crimp joint.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2000Date of Patent: March 25, 2003Assignee: Engineered Controls International Inc.Inventor: Patrick N. Patent number: 5489174Abstract: A locking system including a combination of a multi-strand locking wire and a ferrule having a thin walled crimpable section useful for preventing threaded fasteners from loosening due to vibration, each of the fasteners having an aperture for receiving the locking wire. The ferrule has a larger stop end for interfering with the fastener aperture and a smaller thin walled barrel end for crimping. In one configuration the ferrule is a thin walled cylinder with one end flared out to form the stop end for facilitating insertion of the locking wire. The thin wall of the barrel end allows reduced crimping force. Further reduction of crimping force is achieved by crimping the ferrule to deform only small localized areas on the barrel end. The ferrule may bear identification marks which may be either pre-marked or applied during the installation such as by crimping.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1994Date of Patent: February 6, 1996Assignee: Yonco CorporationInventor: Plato J. Patent number: 5308185Abstract: Two mechanical components are interconnected, for example, the two principal parts of a pedal rod by forming the clevis with a progressive die so that threaded portions are provided on opposite sides of an opening and are formed and shaped strictly by compression without rotation. The work piece is then folded so that the threaded portions are in register and the shaft part of the pedal rod is threaded in place and adjusted to take up the tolerances in the linkage. The two parts are locked together either by crimping, spot welding or by a lock nut, or by joining out of sync thread segments.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1992Date of Patent: May 3, 1994Inventor: Charles E.
