Abstract: A shank portion (32) of a bolt (28) fits through an enlarged opening (22) in a base member (14). A barrier washer 36 is located between base member (14) and a support member (12). A weld bead (30) and a central part (37) of washer (36) fit within a shallow socket (24) in a first side of the base member (14). The washer (36) is placed against support member (12) and the first side (18) of the base member (14) is placed against washer (36). The tubular end (48) of a post member (10) is moved endwise into an trepan groove (26) and the post (10) is rotated to first make and then tighten a screw connection (34, 40) between an insert (38) in the post member (10) and a threaded portion (34) of the bolt (28). The support member (12), the bolt (b 28 ) and insert (38) are made from a hard metal. The base member (12) and the post member (10) are constructed from a soft metal.

Abstract: A vertical leg (14) is received through a ring (16). An over-center latch mechanism is mounted inside a cavity (6) in a side rail (2). The end surface (2a) of the rail (2) has a recess (4). A shaft (24) has one end (26) secured to the ring (16) and extends from the ring (16) through an opening (8) in the rail (2) which communicates the recess (4) and the cavity (6). The inner end (28) of the shaft (24) is engaged by a lever (32) of the latch mechanism. Pivoting of the lever (32) pulls the ring (16) into the recess (4) and the leg (14) into contact with the end surface (2a) of the rail (2) above and below the recess (4). There is no contact between the ring (16) and any portion of the rail (2) to allow automatic adjustment for surface irregularities of the rail (2) and leg (14) and ensure firm contact between the leg (14) and rail (2). Preferably, the end (26) of the shaft (24) is pivotable relative to the ring (16).

Abstract: A system for joining staircase rails and similar articles together in an end-to-end relationship in which one of the rails is formed with a first generally cylindrical bore near one end of the rail to extend from the bottom of the rail upwardly toward the top thereof, and with a second bore extending along the axis of the rail from the first bore to an out the end of the rail. The system includes an elongate bolt, one end of which is affixable in the end of the other rail so that the other end of the bolt projects therefrom through the second bore into the first bore when the rails are placed end-to-end. The other end of the bolt includes a transversely extending hole for receiving a pin. The fastening system also includes an arcuate wedge element having a back section and two arcuate, generally parallel fingers extending from the back section and tapering from thicker ends at the back section to narrower free ends.

Abstract: A connecting fixture serves to detachably connect two abutting platelike furniture parts, which preferably extend at right angles to each other. Two fixture elements are secured to respective furniture elements to be connected. The first fixture element has an undercut-defining portion, which may be in the form of a step, a backing edge, or a mushroom-shaped head. The second fixture element has a spring detent lever for releasably engaging the undercut portion and holding the elements together. The safety of the connecting fixture is increased in that it can selectively be locked by rigidly cooperating connecting means. For that purpose a spring which biases the detent lever is held under an initial stress between the detent lever and an abutment portion of the second fixture element. The abutment is movable between a position for engaging and locking the lever in its detent position and a position in which it releases the detent lever to be biased by the spring.

Abstract: The rotating lock of a furniture mounting includes a locking head which engages a clamping part with its inner clamping cam in the mounted state. The rotating lock is inserted in a borehole of a furniture part. The inner clamping cam is provided with toothlike raised portions or recessed portions, and the circumferential surface of the rotating lock is at least partially provided with ribs or raised portions (5) whereby it is ensured that the loosening moment of the furniture mounting is increased in such a way that an unintended loosening is made substantially more difficult or is prevented.

Abstract: The invention relates to a corner connection for furniture, namely for non-metal parts of furniture, containing a rotary eccentric worm and a binding bolt. The head 7 of the bolt 2 enters into a pair of oblique surface portions 6 arranged along a gap-like cutout 5 on the inner side of the sleeve eccentric worm 1, the bottom 6a of which oblique surface portions beginning at the mouth of the cutout 5 essentially on the mantle surface of the worm 1 and ending at the semicircular termination of the cutout 5 essentially on the inner surface of the worm 1.

Abstract: A metal fitting for a detachable connection between panels, which are at an angle to one another, especially between furniture panels, comprises an approximately cylindrical tension part (3) which is rotatably supported in the recess (2) of a mounting (1). The mounting (1) is attached to one panel and a tension bolt (10), which engages the tension part (3), is attached to the other panel. Recess (2) is provided at its one face (4) with a supporting surface (5) for the purpose of supporting the tension part (3) in the mounting (1). In order to enable the mounting (1) to be manufactured simply and the tension part (3) to be inserted easily into the mounting (1), the other face (13) of the recess (2) is fashioned to be open and has only a nose (14), which rises inwardly above the tension part (3). The tension part (3), in turn, is provided with a longitudinal slot (15) which corresponds to the dimensions of the nose (14).

Abstract: The present invention pertains to the technical field of network structures and more particularly it relates to a knot joint of the kind adapted to engage a number of rods converging in the joint itself.According to the invention the joint (1) comprises a central core (2) and first and second couplings in alignment with said rods (3) and connected to said core (2) and said rods (3) respectively, as well as suitable to be engaged with each other by a restrained fixing, said first and second couplings consisting of clamps (8) and inserts (9), the shape of which mates with that of said clamps (8), insertable into the latter by causing them to slide in a sense transverse to the extension direction of said rods (3).

In the assembled position, the holding projection 7 abuts against one or two gripping surfaces (8) of the locking element (3) which gripping surfaces (8) are of, for example, eccentric shape, and the holding projection (7) is pulled toward the locking element when the locking element (3) is turned. The holding piece (5) is constructed plate-shaped and is insertable in a slot (6) in the second structural component (2).

Abstract: A shelving device wherein a side plate of a shelf is connected to a shelf plate through an insert attached to the side plate and an engagement member attached to the shelf plate. The insert has its portion buried and fixed in the side plate and is formed at one end of its buried portion with a generally trapezoidal receiving portion gradually narrowed upward and on both its sides with sloped faces. The engagement member has its engagement portion adapted to be buried and fixed in the lower face of one end portion of the shelf plate and is formed at one side of its engagement portion with an engagement recess gradually narrowed upward to fit the receiving portion therein and at both the sides of its engagement recess with a dovetail groove having sloped faces closely engaging the sloped faces on the two sides of the receiving portion.

Abstract: An article-joining device wherein an engagement projection is formed on a body of a fastening member adapted to be rotatably fitted in a second member, the second member being connected to a first member through a connecting rod, and a cylindrical fastener case is provided to be fitted on the outer side of the body of the fastening member and is formed on its outer side with a plurality of fixing ridges to be retained in a mounting hole of the second member, in its side with an insert hole corresponding to the insert hole of the fastening member, in its inner side with a guide groove extending longitudinally thereof for guiding therein the engaging projection of the fastening member, and in an upper portion of its inner side with a step extending circumferentially thereof and merging into the guide groove for engaging and supporting the engaging projection.

When the control device is to be mounted in a cutout in the shield, the guidance projections, the at least one positioning stop and the at least one stop spring are shaped from material of the shield bounding the cutout.

Abstract: A connecting fitting for releasably connecting two platelike furniture members, which preferably extend at right angles to each other, comprises two fitting elements which are adapted to be secured to respective ones of the furniture members to be connected. One of said fitting elements has locking projection and is adapted to be slidably inserted into a receiving opening of the other fitting element until the fitting elements and/or furniture members engage each other. The other fitting element is provided with a hook-shaped rotary wedge for interengaging with the projection so as to lock the fitting elements to each other. The rotary wedge is rotatably mounted in a wedge housing and is biased in a locking sense by a torsion spring. Unlocking means are provided to rotate the rotary wedge in a retracting sense as well as resilient means for locking the rotary wedge in its retracted position.

Abstract: A device for joining furniture panels includes a dowel casing with a holding member for holding the head of a screw or the like when the latter is inserted into the dowel casing. The dowel casing is insertable into a hole in one panel and the screw is to be screwed into another panel. The dowel casing is a one-part casing open at the bottom or inserted end thereof.

The holding member has an annular rim by which it is held by lateral projections of the dowel casing.

Abstract: A connecting fitting for releasably connecting two platelike furniture members, which extend preferably at right angles to each other comprises two fitting elements adapted to be secured to respective furniture members to be connected. One of said fitting elements is pin-shaped and provided with an enlarged head and adapted to be slidably inserted into an aperture or recess of the other fitting element until the fitting elements and/or furniture members engage each other. The other fitting element is provided with a spring-loaded locking member, which comprises a forked portion for straddling the first-mentioned fitting element below its head in order to lock the fitting members to each other.

Abstract: An apparatus for mounting a daisy wheel on a shaft driven by a motor in a daisy wheel printer comprises a driving head carried by the driven shaft at its free end, while the daisy wheel is provided with a coupling member. This coupling member is adapted to be coupled in a rotation fixed manner with and to be removed from the driving head by moving the daisy wheel in a substantial radial direction. A locking means is movable between a release position in which the daisy wheel is movable in a substantial radial direction with respect to the driving head and a working position in which the daisy wheel is locked on the driving head.A daisy wheel to be used in a printer with such an apparatus, comprises a central portion and a number of radially extending spokes carrying at their ends a letter, figure or a similar character. Two ribs are formed in V-shape on the one side of the daisy wheel.

Abstract: A connecting device for detachable connection of two perpendicularly positioned panels, such as furniture panels, by means of a grooved fastener bolt fastened in the first panel and a tightening bolt rotatably mounted in a blind bore of the second panel. The tightening bolt is mounted in a first blind bore in the second panel and the fastener bolt is adapted to be inserted into a second blind bore in the second panel perpendicular to the first bore. The tightening bolt is in operative engagement with the head of the fastener bolt in such a manner that as the tightening bolt is rotated the fastener bolt is pulled into the second blind bore firmly joining the two panels.

Abstract: A method for assembling a handle to a cooking vessel, such as a pot or pan, wherein the use of conventional rivets having heads protruding from the inner surface of the cooking vessel is avoided. Studs are welded to the outer surface of the receptacle portion of the cooking vessel, and in the preferred embodiment, the openings in the handle are dimensioned much larger than the diameters of the studs so that the openings can clear the diverging studs. Step washers are then utilized to space the handle and studs so that a tight assembly results when the ends of the studs are expanded against the washers.

Abstract: A fitting for detachably securing two vertically abutting bodies of furniture to be connected to each other in their respective regions of contact. One of the two furniture bodies has attached thereto a projecting fastener bolt having a fastening head. The other piece of furniture is provided with a generally cup-shaped enclosure or casing in a cavity to accommodate a rotatably mounted tensioning member. The head of the fastener bolt is in operative connection with the tensioning member and is adapted to be drawn into the casing when the tensioning member is rotated.

Abstract: An improved frictional connection or joint for interconnecting parts in knock down display fixtures. The joint is of a telescopic type having a flat strap which is attached to one member and telescopes into an opening in a second member. Spaced apart clips are provided on the strap for frictionally engaging the interior member opening when the strap is moved to a position such that both clips are within the opening.

Abstract: The invention relates to a fitting comprising a male component and a female component respectively to be attached to furniture wall parts to be joined together normal to one another. The former comprises a male member and a shank bearing circumferential ribs to hold the shank in a hole bored in one of the furniture parts, and the latter is in the form a part cylindrical body likewise ribbed to hold the body in a hole bored in the other furniture part. The body constitutes a socket formed to interrupt the lateral wall of the body so that the socket opens radially of the body; the hole formed in the respective furniture part being of complementary form to interrupt an end edge of the furniture part. The male member further comprises a recess in part delineated by a ledge and tapered end faces of flanges of the male member; and the female component further comprises a resilient tongue.

Abstract: A clamping device for releasably snap joining or clamping two panels comprises a plug element and a bush element. The plug element comprises: a stem portion engageable with the walls of a hole in a panel; a body portion; a head portion formed with legs that can be resiliently moved near one another and defined by at least one longitudinal slit; a notch extended from the longitudinal slit within the body; and a slider slidable between the legs to lock the latter at widened out position.

Abstract: The handlebar for a bicycle or similar vehicle is clamped by a pair of pillow blocks which are bolted to a first plate which in turn is attached to the bicycle stem. The first plate has a portion stamped outwardly to form a second plate connected to the first plate and angularly disposed with respect to it. A rim is also pressed out of the plane of the first plate along the edge of the opening formed by stamping out the second plate, and an upper portion of the bicycle stem is received in the opening in the first plate and permanently attached to it by means of a fillet weld around the opening at the lower surface of the first plate. The undersurface of the second plate bears against the upper end of the stem and is bolted to it by a bolt that extends through the second plate and the stem.

Abstract: A portable lighting system which includes a stand having an adjustable effective length which positions lights carried on a frame at a predetermined vertical position with respect to a supporting surface. The frame is releasably secured to the stand and can readily be set up and dismantled for transport in a compact space. Lights carried by the frame include a new and simple technique for attaching the gelatine filter holders, and may be connected to a foot operated control box which includes switches actuated to energize preselected lights or groups of lights. The energized lights or preselected energized lights can be intensity modulated with a foot operated dimmer while leaving the operator's hands free to play a musical instrument.

Abstract: Coupling means, for example for use in the furniture industry, comprises a body member having a threaded opening which communicates with an internal cavity; an elongate headed member, a shank portion of which is receivable through a slot formed in the side of the body member with its head retained within the cavity; and a threaded member receivable in the threaded opening and adapted to bear against the head of the headed member. The interior of the cavity is so shaped that tightening of the threaded member in the opening is arranged to draw the shank of the headed member further through the slot into the interior of the cavity.

Abstract: A prefabricated wall structure for forming an enclosure such as a horse-box has two spaced tubular uprights defining an opening therebetween which can be blocked by a door. A crosspiece extends from one post, across the opening, beyond the other post and is secured to a wall section supported by the other post. The crosspiece gives rigidity to the structure. Each post has a substantially square cross-section and has fixing holes provided in the end portions thereof. The crosspiece carries mounting means which are inserted in the upper end portions of the posts and engaged by screws extending through the fixing holes. A door for closing the opening can be supported either by one of the posts or by the crosspiece.

Abstract: A device for rigidly interconnecting wood panels or other parts of a piece of furniture. The joint comprises a finned shank and a head, secured within a seat provided in a first panel, and the head being removably engageable with a pin projecting from a second panel to be connected to the former.The joint head comprises a seat coaxial with the shank, and open at the front and top for introducing the pin from above; on the bottom and at intermediate position, the seat in the joint head also has a transverse rib for engagement with a slot at the pin end. A closure cover clamps the pin in the seat and has projecting tabs for rotational engagement within longitudinal slots provided internally of the head at the top of the rib.

Abstract: A simple, yet secure connection between a vertical upright, such as a fence post, and a horizontal rail. The rail has secured thereto at either end, a collar of a material having memory and having a pair of spaced, vertically extending ears, with radially outwardly extending ends, adapted to pass through and expand against the internal surfaces of an outwardly extending, generally horizontal, closed loop. If necessary, a wedge or keeper may be driven between the ears once they are in place, thus preventing removal of the rail.

Abstract: A handrail assembly adapted for mounting between two spaced parallel surfaces. The handrail member and its mounting brackets are cooperatively configured to enable the handrail member to be supported by the brackets while concealing the brackets and the means which locks the handrail member and its mounting brackets in assembled relation.

Abstract: Shelving assembly includes vertically disposed corner posts interconnected at their bottom ends by base panels secured to the posts by disjointable connecting means and interconnected at their top ends by header panels disjointably secured to the posts together with a plurality of vertically spaced clips disjointably mounted to each post and arranged to support a plurality of shelves except for the bottom shelf which is arranged for disposition in a horizontal attitude and which also is tiltable by virtue of its support along its rear edge by a tilt beam, the shelf which is disposed immediately above the lowermost shelf being arranged to form a tiltable back portion for the device which is disposed in approximately perpendicular relation to the lowermost shelf when tilted.

Abstract: This invention relates to a fitting for the detachable connecting of two structural parts which abut perpendicularly to each other, particularly cabinet parts, having a preferably cylindrical or partially cylindrical holding piece which can be inserted into a recess, open towards one surface side, in a first structural part, and having a connecting piece which can be anchored in a recess of the second structural part as well as on the holding piece. The connecting piece in the second structural part can be anchored relative to the connecting piece by displacement of the holding piece.

Abstract: A portable article display assembly is contemplated which embodies a display frame having at least one hollow upright support member having sidewalls and at least an open bottom end portion. This display assembly comprises ground engaging means having a generally elongated, horizontal support member, at least one support leg attached adjacent each end of the horizontal support member, and retaining means being generally centrally connected to the horizontal member and being slidably insertable within the open end of the upright support for selectively, frictionally holding the ground engaging means in the upright support to thereby lock the latter in the former.

Abstract: A moulded plastics lever is formed with a butterfly-shaped aperture part of the periphery of which is bounded by integral, resilient locating formations. The lever is mounted on a metal support element having a pressed-out tag formed with a reduced width neck portion engaged by the locating formations to hold the lever and the support element together.

Abstract: A bed canopy frame having longitudinal members constructed of resilient plastic material. The longitudinal members include parallel top and bottom portions with a transverse portion joining the top and bottom portions. The transverse portion of each of the longitudinal members includes a plurality of receptacles adapted to receive a corresponding number of lateral members. The lateral members cooperate with the longitudinal members to form a generally rectangular frame.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a ceiling runner which has a generally U-shaped configuration. The runner has flanges to support ceiling boards. The side walls of the runner are formed with grooves which may be used to support the runner in position or define an isolated chamber within the body of the runner. The side walls of the runner have a second groove which is used for positioning ceiling boards on the flanges.

Abstract: A system of structural members comprising a basic structural member having secured to opposite sides thereof a pair of corresponding plates which extend outwardly from the sides of the basic structural member, and are adapted to enable two secondary structural members to be secured thereto by means of releasable fasteners, and at least one further structural member having an end provided with two opposite recesses shaped to allow said end to fit between the plates with heads of any fasteners abutting the plates on the insides thereof located in the recesses, this end further having a flange for securing it to the basic structural member.

Abstract: A fitting for detachably interconnecting two walls of an item of furniture at an angle to one another. The fitting comprises a bearing body locatable in one wall, which body has two bores formed therein, a rotatable torsion bolt being located in one bore and a portion of a tightening bolt in the other bore. On its external surface the torsion bolt is grooved. The two bores communicate with one another. In use, the head of the tightening bolt engages with the groove in the torsion bolt, and the opposed end of the tightening bolt engages in the other wall whereby rotation of the torsion bolt locks the tightening bolt in position and causes said walls to be interconnected.

Abstract: A structural joint assembly is provided between perpendicular beam members. One of the members includes a U-shaped channel having longitudinal ribs projecting inwardly from the sidewalls thereof, and the other member includes a plate extension on one end thereof projecting into the channel of the first member transverse to the axis thereof. The side edges of the plate are notched to receive the ribs of the first member, and the sidewalls and/or bottom wall of the channel are provided with opposed resilient tabs engaging opposite sides of the plate. The ribs and notches interengage the two members against separation, and the tabs position the second member longitudinally with respect to the first member.

Abstract: A cable tray has side rails and rungs formed from sheet metal. The side rails have outwardly opening upper and lower grooves which are keystone shaped in that the open side of the groove is narrower than the inner side of the grooves. The lower groove provides an inwardly offset flange along the side rail and the hollow rungs, which are formed with a substantially square cross-sectional shape fit around substantially square portions of the flange which are defined by pairs of spaced vertical slots across the flange. The rung-ends have horizontally aligned rectangular slots through their sides and rung joiners, which have a rectangular cross-sectional configuration are driven through the aligned slots, the joiners having a drive fit between the closed vertical side of the flange and the ends of the aligned slots which are adjacent the end of the rung, thus forcing the rung end against the side rail web.
