Patent number: 5131778Abstract: A coupling structure and a method of coupling resin structures wherein a first member is coupled with a thermoplastic second member through a coupling force produced by constricting the volume of the resin during molding and/or the generation of an undercut structure. The undercut structure results from the deformation of a projection member caused by the flow pressure and temperature of the resin. A recess is provided in one of the members. The recess is indented in the laying direction. On the other member, a projection is provided which enters the recess. The coupling of the two members is therefore simple and does not require the use of a subsidiary material. Additionally, when an undercut structure is formed, extremely strong coupling is obtained. Since the undercut is formed by deformation of the projection, no undercut structure is required to be formed on the die, so that no extra cost or burden has to be forced on the die.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 1991Date of Patent: July 21, 1992Assignee: Minolta Camera Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shingo Asai, Katsumi Nakajima, Akihiko Matsumoto

Patent number: 4790207Abstract: A control lever mounting system includes first and second boss members, each shaped to receive a control lever thereon and having a bore shaped to be positioned in registry with a transverse hole in a bicycle frame tube, and a connector pin for joining the first and second boss members together. The pin is shaped to extend through the tube hole and includes opposing end segments shaped to protrude outwardly from the hole and into the bores of the boss members, forming an interference fit, such that the pin holds the boss members against opposite sides of the frame tube. The boss members each include a recess formed on an inner face thereof shaped to receive adhesive for attaching the boss member to the outer surface of the tube, thereby providing an attachment in addition to the press fit engagement between the boss members and connector pin.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1986Date of Patent: December 13, 1988Assignee: Huffy CorporationInventors: Robert L. Patent number: 4788877Abstract: A composite housing for a rotary valve rack and pinion power steering gear includes a pinion housing portion fabricated of a light weight first metal and valve housing portion fabricated of a more dense and abrasion resistant second metal. The pinion housing portion includes a main body having a pinion bore therein. The valve housing portion is a right circular cylinder with an annular neck thereon. The annular neck is press fitted into a counterbore around the pinion bore whereby the valve housing portion is connected to the pinion housing portion. The pinion housing portion has an annular groove in an inside surface of the counterbore and a plurality of molding passages connected to the groove. The neck of the valve housing portion has an annular groove which cooperates with the groove in the counterbore in defining an annular ring chamber.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1987Date of Patent: December 6, 1988Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: John H. Patent number: 4788833Abstract: A drier comprising a pressure cylinder formed by two cylinder parts. One cylinder part has inlet and outlet flow fittings on it, for connection of the cylinder in the refrigerant circuit. The two cylinder parts further have passages in them for the flow of the refrigerant, and desiccant modules mounted in the passages to remove water from the refrigerant. The two cylinder parts are made of molded plastic and are round and cup shaped. The annular open sides of the two parts are attached together by a lug-in-groove twist lock connection. Further, the annular open sides have a scarf joint formed thereon, and the parts are bonded together at the joint to form a strong integral construction. A sight glass is provided at one end of the cylinder and a blow-out plug may be provided at the opposite end.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1988Date of Patent: December 6, 1988Assignee: Frigette CorporationInventor: Luther R. Patent number: 4787771Abstract: A sucker rod string using composite rods is provided with socket units. The socket units are all box end units and are connected together with couplers having pin ends. Each of the socket units has a small angle tapered bore. Wedges between the rods and the tapered bore of the socket unit are prestressed by a threaded plug within the box end to a load equal to or greater than the design working load of the string.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1986Date of Patent: November 29, 1988Inventor: Loy F. Patent number: 4773282Abstract: Piston rod assembly includes a piston head and rod which are formed separately and subsequently jointed together by injecting adhesive through a porting passage in the piston head into an annular space formed by an internal groove in the piston head and an external surface of the rod to provide a bonded joint therebetween. The piston head includes a radially enlarged center dam portion and a pair of reduced diameter end portions extending coaxially from opposite sides of the center dam portion. The internal groove extends axially beyond opposite sides of the center dam portion for a substantial portion of the length of the reduced diameter end portions. The reduced diameter end portions are externally tapered radially inwardly from opposite sides of the enlarged center dam portion toward opposite ends of the reduced diameter end portions to provide a gradual build-up of stiffness in the piston head from the opposite ends of the bonded joint toward the middle.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1987Date of Patent: September 27, 1988Assignee: Pneumo Abex CorporationInventors: Terry L. Patent number: 4752151Abstract: According to the invention, a coupling device for a force transmitting member is provided. The coupling device contains a plurality of force transmitting members and a joint for coupling each end of the force transmitting members. A hardened body of a cement composition having a compressive modulus of elasticity of not less than 2.0.times.10.sup.5 kg/cm.sup.2 and a compressive strength of not less than 700 kg/cm.sup.2 is being filled at least in-between the force transmitting members and the joint.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 1986Date of Patent: June 21, 1988Assignee: Denki Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masanobu Ashida, Seiichi Koyama, Kiyoshi Shirakawa, Toshiyuki Tamaki, Akira Yamazaki, deceased

Patent number: RE32865Abstract: A fiberglass sucker rod construction is disclosed comprising a cylindrical fiberglass rod having a steel connector member adhesively bonded to each end thereof. The steel connector members are basically identical in their manner of being affixed to each end of the fiberglass rod, each connector member having an internal receptacle defining a series of tapered annular spaces for receiving an epoxy adhesive material which bonds the fiberglass rod in the metal connector member, thereby forming a unitary sucker rod having a male thread connector at one end and a mating female connector at the other end thereof. The epoxy adhesive cures, forming a sleeve having a series of annular tapering surfaces defining annular wedges that are oriented such that tension applied to the rod causes the wedges to be compressed between the rod and connector member, resulting in a radially inwardly directed force to retain the rod in position against such tension.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1987Date of Patent: February 14, 1989Assignee: Fiberflex Products Ltd.Inventors: Woodrow T.
