Both Members Deformed Patents (Class 403/285)
  • Patent number: 4059866
Abstract: A rope clamp having a sleeve of plastic malleable material with an axial center hole of substantially the same cross-section throughout the entire length of the sleeve. The wall thickness of the sleeve is thinnest at the mid portion thereof and thickest at the end portions thereof.

  • Patent number: 4053247
Abstract: The specification discloses a double sleeve coupler for coupling coaxially juxtaposed plain end steel pipe sections or pipe pile in metal-to-metal leakproof contact and at the same time providing a high strength connection under tension. A number of forms of couplers are disclosed, all essentially having two rigid metallic cylindrical sleeves of different diameter arranged coaxially one within the other with an annular space or socket therebetween at each end into which the wall of the plain end pipe or pipe pile may be driven as by hammering or by a pile driving hammer. The annular space between the sleeves expands radially outwardly in diameter toward the center of the coupler to a larger cylindrical diameter adjacent the center of the coupler. The length of the expanded inner section of the socket exceeds the thickness of the annular space forming the socket.

  • Patent number: 4035095
Abstract: A split attachment is provided from two substantially identical half pieces each having projections and slots adapted for wedgedly joining the respective halves together for securing tightly about an article. Means on the split half pieces may be deformed against the surfaces of the article to prevent sliding of the attachment or a loose movement between the gripped articles when the attachment is used to join two articles together such as the rods of a brass bed headboard.

  • Patent number: 3999354
Abstract: This structural member is an elongated extruded part having a cross-sectional contour including a stitching leg adapted to be deformed together with the margin of an adjacent panel, so as to connect the member and the panel. The structural member disclosed is channel-shaped and has two stitching legs, one on either side of the channel. Each stitching leg cooperates with a wall of the channel to define a slot for receiving the margin of a panel. After the panel margin is inserted in the slot, the stitching leg and the panel are deformed together to connect the panel and the member. Two extruded structural members may be connected with two panels to form a box beam of hollow rectangular cross-section. Other polygonal cross-sections may be formed by connecting alternate extruded members and panels, with appropriate angles at their interconnections.

  • Patent number: 3996417
Abstract: A connector is disclosed which includes an electrically conductive compression barrel and a deformable core grip which includes an inner sleeve and three longitudinally extending lobes projecting radially outwardly from the sleeve. The core grip fits over the projecting end of the reinforcing core member in a cable, and the end of the cable with the core grip thereon and a length of the cable with conductor strands thereon fit into the end of the compression barrel which is crimped against the core grip and against the conductor strands. Crimping produces a strong mechanical connection between the core grip and both the cable core contained therein and the surrounding compression barrel, and produces a good electrical connection of the compression barrel to the conductor strands on the cable.

  • Patent number: 3980806
Abstract: A cylindrical metallic sleeve has opposite end portions and a cylindrical body portion with a longitudinal passageway for receiving the end portions of a conducting cable in overlapping relation. A shaped annular portion is positioned adjacent the sleeve end portions and include an inner, outwardly flared surface and an outer cylindrical surface that intersect in a rounded end portion. The outer cylindrical surface is planar and positioned substantially parallel to the sleeve cylindrical body portion so that the insulation surrounding the cables adjacent the sleeve end portions is not abraded upon flexing the spliced cable. The flared inner surface is removed from contact with the overlapping cable end portions in the sleeve to permit flexing of the cable end portions therein without abrading the cables. The sleeve body is crimped into frictional engagement with the overlapped cable end portions.

  • Patent number: 3978899
Abstract: A closure band and a method for interconnecting the overlapping ends of the band and an apparatus for making the connection in which incisions are formed laterally into the opposite edges of the superimposed band ends to form tabs along the band edges. The tabs are bent out of the plane of the band ends so that the tabs on the edges of one band are disposed within the tab spaces of the other band end. The tabs are advantageously formed so as to be wider at the outer free ends than the spaces on the other band ends on which the tabs are disposed, whereby the band ends are fixedly interconnected in tension transmitting relation.

  • Patent number: 3949535
Abstract: A joint construction including a plurality of work pieces with aligned holes and with a tubular member in the holes. The tubular member has a major section with a first outside diameter and a minor section with a second outside diameter smaller than the first diameter with both sections defining a substantially constant diameter common central passage therethrough, and has been expanded into contact with the work pieces about the holes to coldwork the work pieces.
