  • Patent number: 9359830
Abstract: An apparatus for gripping a support member is described. The apparatus comprises a tubular clamp, the tubular clamp defining a throughbore adapted to receive a support member therethrough, a first apparatus member adapted to engage a first portion of an external surface of the tubular clamp, and a second apparatus member adapted to engage a second portion of the external surface of the tubular clamp. Relative movement of the first apparatus member with respect to the tubular damp in a first direction results in a deflection of a section of a first end of the tubular clamp into the clamp throughbore and relative movement of the second apparatus member in a second direction, opposite the first direction, with respect to the tubular clamp results in a deflection of a section of a second end of the tubular clamp into the clamp throughbore.

  • Patent number: 8479932
Abstract: A tension rod comprising in its preferred form an outer tube and an inner tube in a telescoping arrangement. The outer tube has an expansion joint structure which can engage the inner surface of the outer tube to hold it in place. A spring stem-wedge-rod structure has a wedge portion with a threaded rod extending therefrom for being threaded through a nut held in the expansion rod structure. The spring stem-wedge-rod structure has a stem extending through a coil spring, and a spring retainer is fixed both to the stem and to the inner tube. Twisting of the inner tube causes the wedge portion to effect the expansion joint structure to be fixed in the outer tube, and the coil spring provides the tension to mount the tension rod between a pair of opposing wall surfaces.

  • Patent number: 8197155
Abstract: Disclosed is a connecting device of a parking cable for an electric parking brake, which connects an actuator for the electric parking brake with a parking cable. The connecting device includes a connector and a reaction force member. The connector includes a small diameter section having one side into which an outer peripheral surface of the parking brake is inserted, a large diameter section that extends from the small diameter section to have a diameter larger than that of the small diameter section, an axial cutout slit axially formed through upper and lower surfaces of an outer peripheral portion of the large diameter section such that protrusions circumferentially protruding from the actuator are inserted into the axial cutout slit through the large diameter section, a circumferential cutout slit that extends from an inner end of the axial cutout slit in a circumferential direction, and a cutout groove that axially extends from the circumferential cutout slit.

  • Patent number: 7596847
Abstract: Improved sucker rod joints for down hole petroleum pumping applications are provided within the form factor of standard API sucker rods, such that existing inventory in suitable condition is fully usable in more demanding applications. The pin ends are selected or processed such as to provide preselected axial distance between a flat pin end and at least one reference surface, such as a threaded region or reference shoulder or both. The coupler is dimensioned such that the pin ends are in abutment either with each other or with opposite sides of an intervening torque washer in the central region, when the connection is made to a selected level of thread engagement. Furthermore, the engagement is such as to put the pin ends in compression and the coextensive length of coupler in tension. This increases frictional restraints and locks the elements together to resist fatigue failure upon cycling and to insure together with an anaerobic adhesive sealant, against back threading.

  • Patent number: 7357593
Abstract: A tube connector for connecting one tubular section to another tubular section. A hook apparatus is joined to a first tubular section and a latching apparatus joined to a second tubular section. The latching apparatus of the second tubular section removably engages the hook apparatus of the first tubular section forming a sturdy joint able to hold up under vigorous activity. The latch and hook are easily joined and locked into place. The second tubular section covers the engaged latch and hook joint.

  • Patent number: 6113304
Abstract: A coupling for a high pressure fluid seal assembly is shown and described. The coupling includes a first member having first and second opposite ends and capable of motion along a first axis extending between the first and second ends. The first member has an engagement portion positioned toward the first end having a rounded convex engagement surface. The coupling further includes a second member also having first and second opposite ends and capable of motion along a second axis extending between the first and second ends of the second member. A second engagement portion toward the second end of the second member has a substantially flat second engagement surface engaging the first engagement surface of the first member. The interface between the first and second engagement surfaces aligns motion of the first member along the first axis with motion of the second member along the second axis. The coupling accordingly reduces the tendency for either the first or second member to bend.

  • Patent number: 5186573
Abstract: A first shaft which is, for example, the output shaft of a clutch, is coupled to a second shaft which, for example, is the input shaft of a transmission, by a splined coupling. The splined coupling includes a first sleeve having internal splines for splining with the first shaft and external splines for splining with the internal splines of a second sleeve which internal splines also spline with the external splines of the second shaft. A first spring extending between the first sleeve and first shaft biases the first sleeve toward the second shaft, while a second spring extending between the first sleeve and second sleeve biases the second sleeve toward the second shaft. In order to decouple the first shaft from the second shaft so that, for example, a clutch may be removed from a drive train without removing a transmission, the first and second sleeves are pushed to a retracted position, collapsing the first and second springs.
