  • Patent number: 5186568
Abstract: A double latch locking device for supporting a scaffolding in erected condition. The scaffolding comprises frames parallel to one another and supported vertically by crossrods having bored ends. The latter engage a short horizontal stem projecting from the interior plane of each frame, whereas a rigid arm projects above each of the stems parallel thereto. Two latches are pivoted independently of one another to a same pivotal axis located at the free end of the rigid arm, to move within the interior plane of the corresponding frame, and are adapted to releasably retain the stay rods to the frame in a limit locking position. The present device is characterized in that it enables the locking of a variable number of stay rods on the stem with a minimum of play; the first latch will retain for example up to three stay rods which would have been engaged on the stem, whereas the second latch will retain for example up to five stay rods.

One of the two engaging arms is fitted in a groove formed in the distal end of the bracket to maintain the assembled condition of the pushcart whereas the other engaging arm is fitted in the groove to maintain the folded condition of the pushcart. A tubular stopper is fitted on the distal end portion of the bracket and is slidingly movable along the bracket.

  • Patent number: 4976053
Abstract: An auxiliary equipment attachment adapter, to be used in pairs, semipermanently attaches to the customary mounting fixtures on a vehicle for commonly available equipment including snow plows. The adapter has open horizontally diverging jaws, upwardly inclined to direct the attachment plate of the equipment to be attached into a retaining slot of the adapter. The equipment is modified by having a retaining bar placed between its attachments plates to engage a latch that holds the attachments plates in their retaining slots. The rearward portion of the adapter is an I-beam that rigidly encompasses the mounting fixtures of the vehicle and is pinned thereto through the web of the I-beam. This adapter and method provides a safe and easy method for engaging and disengaging attachments by one person from within the cab of any vehicle with no manual positioning of the attachment from outside the vehicle.

Abstract: A quick release mechanism for locking a tubular leg member to a supporting structure whereby a >-shaped flat metal spring exerts upward pressure on the handle end of a lever arm causing the lower operating end of the lever arm to force a locking pin into the locked position in the supporting structure. The pin is unlocked by pressing down on the handle end of the lever arm. The quick release mechanism may be secured to legs of a supporting device so that the legs can be readily pivoted into a number of positions, particularly an extended position for support and a spaced parallel arrangement for storage.

  • Patent number: 4934658
Abstract: A locking mechanism for extendible telescoping tubular members formed with radial, axially aligned openings. The locking mechanism comprises a hollow housing that surrounds the exterior wall of the outer tubular member. The housing is adapted for movement in the axial direction of the telescoping tubular members along the exterior wall of the outer tubular member. Disposed within the housing is at least one spring loaded lever that pivots about a fulcrum in the housing. Fixed to the opposite end portions of the lever, respectively, are oppositely directed plungers. When the radial openings of the telescoping tubular members are in register, the locking plunger enters the registered openings to restrain axial displacement between the telescoping tubular members.

  • Patent number: 4930933
Abstract: An attaching socket of a working implement fits a tool shaft and has an exterior clamping device with a clamping piece, which with the clamping device in a closed condition engages in the tool shaft through an opening in a wall of the attaching socket. The clamping piece is mounted on a clamping lever which is mounted pivotable exteriorly on the attaching socket about a pivot axis extending substantially perpendicular to the sleeve axis and extends from that pivot axis substantially further than the length of the clamping piece. This clamping piece together with the clamping lever form a bent lever. The clamping lever is pivoted in against the tool shaft in the closed condition of the clamping device, while it is swung out in the open condition far enough from it so that the clamping piece is out of engagement with the tool shaft. With the clamping device closed the end of the tool shaft is braced by the clamping piece axially against a backstop formed by and in the attaching socket.

  • Patent number: 4923324
Abstract: Rather than engage the grooves of a cartridge's splined hub by means of fingers attached to a reel motor shaft, the present invention uses a mechanical coupler mounted on the motor shaft which contacts the spline lands at two places and locks the mechanical coupler position by insertion of a spring loaded tongue into one of the grooves of the spline. This groove is angularly located midway between the lands which contact the mechanical coupler, effecting a "three point" engagement of the mechanical coupler with the hub. The land contacting surfaces and the tongue are chamfered to facilitate engaging the hub for slight off-axial misalignment of the hub and mechanical coupler. The spring loaded tongue forces the spline contacting surfaces of the mechanical coupler into a "zero clearance" fit with the contacted lands of the spline, providing an intimate and backlash free connection between the hub and driving motor.
