  • Patent number: 11873683
Abstract: Example systems, devices, and methods are described for evaluating the relative leak safety of threaded connections in well tubulars. The method includes evaluating leak risk using a quadratic leak criterion, which is a function of the effective pressure (Pe) and includes three constants: a first constant called the leak path factor (?), a thread modulus (?), and a makeup leak resistance (?). The method in some implementations includes identifying at least three test cases with different ?p expected to leak under certain conditions. The method includes fitting a quadratic expression to a subset of values associated with the leaking test cases, in which the resulting quadratic expression includes values for the three constants.

Abstract: An alignable coupling assembly embodiment for coupling distal and proximal prosthetic components includes a pair of parallel circular plates rotatably disposed in the circular receptacle of a support plate. The circular plates are configured such that they can be unpressed or a pressed. The unpressed condition allows rotation of the paired plates and the pressed condition prevents such rotation by way of a first friction lock. The paired circular plates further have a rectangular slot into which a longitudinal connector is slidably disposed, and which is subject to a second friction lock that prevents sliding when the connector is pulled distally. Rotational movement of the plates and sliding movement of the connector in the slot cooperate to allow its positioning at any point within an anterior-posterior/lateral medial grid centered on the longitudinal axis of the proximal prosthetic component. A distal pull on the longitudinal connector engages both first and second friction locks.

Abstract: A connector assembly is used to connect subassemblies such as parts of a knockdown or modular sofa or similar item of furniture. The furniture item can be an upholstered item in which the multiple components are stackable into a volume that is smaller than the assembled item of furniture for shipping. The connector assembly includes a keyhole slot on a frame member in one component and a male connector assembly on a frame member in the other assembly. The male connector includes a sleeve with a cylindrical shank and an adjacent enlarged or conical portion, and the sleeve, which may be plastic, is mounted the bolt. The narrow section of the keyhole slot has a beveled surface and as the sleeve progresses into the narrow section, engagement of the conical sleeve section with the beveled slot surface tightens the two members being attached.

  • Patent number: 8348543
Abstract: A connection system for connecting external devices to specified locations on a marine seismic streamer. Inner collars having raised bosses are clamped to the cable at specified locations along its length. Each inner collar forms a circular race encircling the cable. An external device is attached to a pair of cuffs in the form of C-shaped cylindrical rings each with a circular inner surface. A gap in the ring interrupts the inner surface. The width of the gap is greater than the diameter of the bosses so that the cuffs may be slid onto the collars when the gaps are aligned with the bosses. The bosses are circumferentially offset when the cable is in its normal operating state to lock the cuff and the external device to the collars. The cuffs and the external device can be installed on or removed from the cable by twisting the cable to align the bosses and sliding the cuffs onto or off of the collars. When installed, the cuffs ride on the races to allow the cable to rotate inside the cuffs.
