Abstract: A device that will enable material to be irradiated as needed to produce a desired transmutation product inside the core of a nuclear reactor. The device provides a means for monitoring neutron flux in the vicinity of the material being irradiated to allow determination of the amount of transmutation product being produced. The device enables the irradiated material to be inserted into the reactor and held in place at desired axial positions and to be withdrawn from the reactor when desired without shutting down the reactor. The majority of the device may be re-used for subsequent irradiations. The device also enables the simple and rapid attachment of unirradiated target material to the portion of the device that transmits the motive force to insert and withdraw the target material into and out of the reactor and the rapid detachment of the irradiated material from the device for processing.

  • Patent number: 10294734
Abstract: In one embodiment, a wear band comprises a rotating element having a bore receivable on a tubular, the bore comprising first and second bore portions slidably receiving first and second sleeve bearings. Outer surfaces of the sleeve bearings slidably engage the bore portions and the bores of the sleeve bearings slidably engage the tubular. A first and a second stop collars may be received on the tubular to together straddle the rotating element and sleeve bearings to longitudinally secure the rotating element in a position on the tubular. The tubular may be included within a tubular string run into a borehole or into the bore of an installed casing, such as in casing while drilling. The rotating element provides stand-off between a tubular and the wall of a bore, reduces frictional resistance to longitudinal sliding and also to rotation of the tubular string within the bore.

The wedge is substantially cylindrical and encircles a support member received in the cavity. A compression ring is in contact with the body and the wedge portion. As the wedge portion turns relative to the body using the threads, the compression ring expands and contracts to loosen or tighten the connection between the received support member and the anchor. The wedge portion and the body are corrosion resistant.

Abstract: The invention relates to a securing device for head tube bearings of two-wheel vehicles, e.g. bicycles. The head tube bearing comprises a top and a bottom bearing unit, with the aid of which a tubular shaft of the fork of the two-wheel vehicle can be rotatably connected to a head tube of the frame of the two-wheel vehicle. The inventive securing device is composed of a thrust bearing which can be locked onto the tubular shaft above the top bearing unit and is effectively connected to a mechanism applying an axial pressure to the top bearing unit, henceforth referred to as an axial pressure mechanism. This has the advantage that securing the clearance of the head tube bearing is entirely independent of the handlebar fixture. The thrust bearing is locked in relation to the tubular shaft once the disclosed thrust bearing comprising the axial pressure mechanism has been placed on the tubular shaft and has been slid onto the top bearing unit until reaching the stop.

Abstract: An adjustable steering tie-rod assembly having a threaded rod, connected to a tube having an annular cavity and an intermediate tubular member. The intermediate member has internal and external threads with longitudinal grooves in sectioned lines. The threaded steering terminal, intermediate member and tube are connected in a concentric arrangement. The internal and external threads of the intermediate member facilitate adjusting the length of the assembly without axial movement of the intermediate member. The bracketing assembly is designed to ensure that the components are adequately fixed and form a solid assembly. The longitudinal grooves of the intermediate member are thrust on the external thread of the rod of the steering terminal and on the internal thread of the tubular extremity of the steering tie rod, to provide locking of the assembly and hindering the spontaneous rotating movement of the components regardless of the specific geometry of the steering tie-rod.

Abstract: A system is provided for securing two ends of a rotating member, such as a shaft, with respect to a non-rotating member, such as a mounting hub. Inner and outer sleeves have tapered surfaces and are positioned about the rotating member and provided within a bore of the non-rotating member. The tapered surfaces of the inner and outer sleeves cooperate in securing the shaft within the bore. The one or more inner sleeves collectively provide two threaded extensions for engagement with two nuts. Further, the one or more outer sleeves aggregately include two extensions, each having an annular groove to accommodate a lip formed in the nut. The system is engaged and disengaged through the interaction of the various tapered surfaces and the nuts, caused by the directional rotation of the nuts.
