  • Publication number: 20080089740
Abstract: Fast-coupling device for mutual connection of two coupleable members, which can be separated from one another and are provided with respective coupling sections. A first of said coupleable members has at least one through opening, which communicates with a front edge of the coupleable member by means of a disengagement groove having a width smaller than the width of said opening. The second coupleable member comprises at least one clamping member, which is mobile in a hole between an extracted position and a retracted position and is pushed elastically towards its extracted position. The clamping member has a surface, which engages the through opening of the first coupleable member. Each clamping member has an actuation portion with a dimension equal to or smaller than the width of said disengagement groove.

Abstract: A minimal volume boss may be formed as key and keyway assembly defining a shaft along the interface between the two pieces. A threaded fastener may be threaded into the shaft to lock the two pieces together. Because the key can have minimal volume, the cavitation spot opposite the key, typically formed during molding can be eliminated on fine surfaces. By properly keying the pieces, rotation between parts can also be eliminated. This helps automated torque sensing tools read and apply the proper torque in automated assembly.

  • Patent number: 7314330
Abstract: A system is provided for securing two ends of a rotating member, such as a shaft, with respect to a non-rotating member, such as a mounting hub. Inner and outer sleeves have tapered surfaces and are positioned about the rotating member and provided within a bore of the non-rotating member. The tapered surfaces of the inner and outer sleeves cooperate in securing the shaft within the bore. The one or more inner sleeves collectively provide two threaded extensions for engagement with two nuts. Further, the one or more outer sleeves aggregately include two extensions, each having an annular groove to accommodate a lip formed in the nut. The system is engaged and disengaged through the interaction of the various tapered surfaces and the nuts, caused by the directional rotation of the nuts.

Abstract: A corner leg assembly comprises two grooved mating elements divided longitudinally which when held together form the female groove portion of two dovetail joints, one on each side facing laterally 90 degrees apart. One of the corner elements is a substantially triangular corner leg having perpendicular outside surfaces and parallel lengthwise L-shaped grooves on a 45 degree inside surface. The second element is a clamp block which includes opposite-facing L-shaped side grooves corresponding (being the mirror image thereof) to the grooves on the corner leg. The clamp block is affixed down the middle of the corner leg along the inside surface by one or more clamping fasteners such as a screw or bolt which passes through the clamp block. By turning the fastener(s), the clamp block may be loosened or removed to vertically adjust a laterally-extending panel or rail member.

The coupling housing (2) has a connecting bore portion (6) which receives a connecting portion (19) of a connecting element (18). The outer contour (10) of the connecting portion (19) follows the inner contour (9) of the coupling housing (2) in the area of the connecting bore portion (6). The connecting portion (19) is accommodated with a radial clearance. Thus, radial displacements, circumferential displacements as well as angular displacements are possible between the coupling housing (2) and the connecting element (18).

  • Patent number: 6748967
Abstract: Couplers for joining actuators to valves are configured to allow their affixment to different makes and models of actuators and valves, thereby allowing an off-the-shelf S coupling solution and avoiding the need to specially construct a coupler which is only adapted to connect whatever valve and actuator that are desired for coupling. The couplers include a shaft/stem bore which accommodates the torque-transmitting components of the valve and actuator to be coupled, and sets of affixment holes surround the shaft/stem bore, with these affixment holes being arrayed in patterns matching those of different common valves and actuators. Thus, a coupler may affix to different valves or actuators provided the appropriate affixment holes are chosen. The couplers may be formed as single-piece or multi-piece units.

The first clamp half 20 and the second clamp half 22 contact a linear guide rail 14 at one end thereof and a key 12 at another end thereof, with the key 12 being coupled to the moving member. A plurality of threaded shafts 40 pass through both the first clamp half 20 and the second clamp half 22 while also passing between the linear guide rail 14 and the key 12. A plurality of cooperating nuts 42, 44 are provided on each end of the threaded shafts 40 to secure the first clamp half 20, the second clamp half 22, the linear guide rail 14 and the key 12. When the user desires to alter the position of the moving member relative to the guide rail 14, the user actuates a plurality of pistons 24 located within the clamping mechanism.

Abstract: A method of joining a first sheet-metal member to a second sheet-metal member in a right-angle relationship using an H-shaped interlocking member. An opening is provided near an edge of the second sheet metal member with a channel communicating the opening and the edge. The opening is sufficiently wide to allow the H-shaped member to be rotated therein so as to allow the upper and lower slots of the H-shaped member to engage with the second sheet-metal member. A tapped hole is provided in the center section of the H-shaped member, aligned with the channel, so as to allow a screw to be inserted through a hole on the first sheet-metal member and then the channel to engage with the tapped hole. After the screw is tightened, the surface of the first sheet metal member is securely joined to the edge of the second sheet metal member.

Abstract: A preferred joint restraint includes a dampening force and a restraining force to control relative movement between a pad and gland and between the gland and bolt, respectively. The preferred restraint includes a gland, pads, and bolts. Preferably, a flexible member disposed in the pad selectively provides the dampening and retaining force. A preferred joint restraint also includes a pad and a bolt that coact to provide a controlled wedging action. The wedging action supplies supplemental tooth penetration and/or enhanced clamping force that stabilizes a shifting tubular member (pipe). A preferred tooth arrangement for a restraint pad produces an intermittent penetration pattern in the pipe. A preferred spacing member for a restraint tunes a clamping force generated by the restraint to accommodate variations in pipe geometry and/or materials. A preferred restraint is arranged according to a method that uses pipe expansion to provide an enhanced gripping action.
