Abstract: An interlocking fastener assembly has an insertion member, a receiving member, and a fastener. The receiving member has a guide opening with pockets which receive a polygonal locking portion of the insertion member during assembly. The locking portion has tapered sides and apexes to self center the insertion member. The guide opening pockets and sides allow limited rotation of the insertion member in the receiving member until a mechanical lock is created preventing further rotation of the insertion member. The mechanical lock allows a fastener to be threaded onto the insertion member without the use of a backup tool.

Abstract: A system for interconnecting construction panels suitable for modular construction has a hybrid connector, a receptor connector and locking connector. The hybrid connector is inserted into the aperture of the receptor connector which limit the displacement relative to each other. The locking connector is inserted into the aperture of the hybrid connector to interlock the three connectors. A panel connector can have an extension tab to provide additional locking action. Panel connectors can have stiffening portions that fill spaces between the connectors to reduce the need to insulate the interconnection and assist in repelling foreign matter entry. A method for interconnecting construction panels includes mating the hybrid connector and the receptor connector and then mating the locking connector from either side of the receptor connector.

A rib extends along each side surface which is shaped and sized to be received in the grooves of the neighboring segments. An arm extends upwardly from the pin body top surface.

Abstract: A ceiling fan bracket has a first end connected to a ceiling fan blade and a second end of the ceiling fan bracket has two L-shaped wings. A connector is connected to the second end of the ceiling fan bracket and has two tongues. A motor casing has a plurality of L-shaped holes and each L-shaped hole includes a wide portion located close to a center of the motor casing and a narrow portion located close to a periphery of the motor casing. Each wing is engaged with the narrow portion of the L-shaped hole and each tongue is engaged with the wide portion of the L-shaped hole. The eccentric force applied to the ceiling fan bracket secures the ceiling fan bracket to the L-shaped hole in the motor casing.

  • Patent number: 6220778
Abstract: An apparatus retains and aligns an electrical ignition switch of a motor vehicle with respect to a steering column housing. A switch housing supports the electrical switch and has at least one first aperture formed therein. The steering column housing slidably receives the switch housing therein, and the steering column housing has at least one second aperture formed therein. At least one locking member is engagable within the first aperture and is moveable between a first position retracted within the aperture and a second position extended outwardly with respect to the first aperture. The locking member engages within the second aperture when the switch housing is slidably engaged and fully seated within the steering column housing and holds the switch housing with respect to the steering column housing when engaged within the second aperture. A biasing member urges the locking member toward the second position.

Abstract: A shaft coupling for connecting two shaft ends to transmit torque. Each shaft end has a recess or a projection. A projection on one shaft end projects into the recess in the other shaft end and their cooperating side walls transmit torque. A centering device at one shaft end cooperates with a centering device on the other shaft end for axially aligning the shaft ends. These may be a cylindrical projection one shaft end and a corresponding recess in the other shaft end. Alternatively, the centering devices are recesses in both shaft ends and a pin that extends into both of the centering recesses. Applied elastic material on at least one of the centering device elements enables secure attachment between the shaft ends.

Abstract: An angle bracket for joining two section bars has a relatively great stability, especially for use for partitions and safety walls. This stability is achieved by supporting walls that join the two legs of an angle bracket to one another and have an outwardly rounded outside contour. This design is relatively simple and inexpensive to implement and allows these angle brackets to be compatible with known designs.

Abstract: A tubular structural part made of composite material such as carbon strand reinforced epoxy resin is provided with an elongated flat area along the outer surface of the tubular part to avoid cracking of the part when the part is telescopically engaged with and clamped in an outer tube part. The flat clamp side area of the inner tube part prevents contact between the facing edges of an elongate split in the outer tube part which are drawn together during clamping so that the edges of the outer tube part are prevented from coming into contact with and thus gouging the outer surface of the composite tube causing cracks and eventual structural failure of the inner tube.

  • Patent number: 6146049
Abstract: Flexible loop assemblies for use variously as key chains, paper ring binders, or as jewelry and a connector for use in such loop assemblies. The connector includes elongate cylindrical mating male and female connector halves each having respective end bores into which opposite ends of a flexible member of monofilament or multi-filament metal or plastic are secured. The male connector half includes a generally cylindrical front plug with a radially-inwardly compressible lock ring of slightly larger uncompressed outer diameter than that of the plug. The plug closely fits into a mating cylindrical socket bore in the female connector half which radially compresses the lock ring during insertion of the plug therein. An annular lock ring groove inside the socket bore is configured to receive the outer portion of the lock ring which lock ring radially expands therein to removably retain the male and female connector halves together.

  • Patent number: 6106188
Abstract: A joint between a first and a second joint partner where each joint partner has at least one flat, cylindrical surface section via which force is applied to the other joint partner. The joint partners being brought into contact with one another in a sliding fashion such that the flat, cylindrical surface sections of the joint partners partially overlap and form a common bearing surface in the contact region. The flat, cylindrical surface sections of the joint partners are each bonded on one side by an undercut and the joint partners are joined such that the common bearing surface of the joint partners is bounded in one direction by the undercut of the first joint partner and in the opposite direction by the undercut of the second joint partner. This arrangement allows zones of maximum stress gradient to be shifted into the region of the undercut structures and for crack-opening, surface-parallel stresses to be substantially avoided.
