Abstract: Truck tractors are connected to their trailers by fifth wheels and several companies manufacture fifth wheel assemblies. The tractors consist of a pair of longitudinally extending beams or rails to which the fifth wheel assemblies mount. Each fifth wheel manufacturer provides several types of fifth wheels, depending upon the type of trucking service being provided. Complicating the situation is the fact that the lateral spacing between the beams will differ. As a result of these variations, different types of mounting brackets have been developed to secure the fifth wheels to the trailer frames. The drop-over bracket fifth wheel mounting assembly consists of an L-shaped angle brace which complements and is slipped over the beam of the tractor; a bracket on its top connects to the fifth wheel. The flat plate method utilizes a thick, flat plate to span across and rest upon each of the beams; it also has a top side bracket.

  • Patent number: 5306064
Abstract: A storage or cargo system clamping assembly is utilized in a freight area of a motorized vehicle and semi-permanently attaches a storage system to the horizontal wooden slats found in the interior of a motorized vehicle. This storage system has vertically disposed struts for readily accepting a threaded screw-type member, which extends, non-restrictively, through the strut member whether a shelf leg or an iron frame and engages an L-shaped member having a threaded hole corresponding to the screw. Such a storage system and clamping assembly provides great versatility to freight and cargo vehicles, allowing for easy installation, adjustment, or removal of the storage system, without damaging the vehicle or leaving any telltale markings on the vehicle that would indicate that a storage system was utilized within the vehicle.

Abstract: The guide rails for the circuit boards of a component carrier are provided with centering pins on their undersides and with a spring elastic holding clamp at one end as fastening element whose base is attached to the underside and whose holding tongue is bent in the direction toward the centering pin, with the distance of the front edge of the holding tongue from the centering pin being slightly greater than the distance of the front edge of the long holes of the module rails from the front edge of the longitudinal web of the module rails. At the other end of the guide rails a resilient clamping web projects as a second fastening element parallel to the centering pin. The free end of the clamping web is provided with a clamping shoulder oriented toward the centering pin for gripping around the front edge of the longitudinal web of the module rails.

  • Patent number: 5146724
Abstract: A two-part clamping assembly and method for applying the clamping assembly to intersecting I-beams is disclosed. The clamping assembly is particularly beneficial at uniting the undercarriage I-beams of a mobile dwelling to intersectingly smaller I-beams of an auxiliary support system, during moderate and/or severe seismic disturbances. The clamping assembly includes a two-part connector designed to tightly engage the upper flange of the lower and smaller I-beam in such a manner that a clamp-lip horizontally protrudes over and is parallel to the bottom flange of the upper undercarriage I-beam. The clamp-lip is engaged at the bottom flange to the undercarriage I-beam, in the event of an earthquake, enabling the undercarriage I-beams to pickup the auxiliary support system. At the cessation of quake conditions, the undercarriage I-beams are reposited to the I-beam of the auxiliary and emergency support system.
