There is also described a method for producing a ballast arrangement according to the invention.

Abstract: The invention relates to a reinforcing element for a concrete barrier-wall element, which concrete barrier-wall element has a repelling profile on at least one longitudinal side, wherein the reinforcing element has longitudinal reinforcing bars and has bows, which extend transversely to the longitudinal reinforcing bars and are connected to the longitudinal reinforcing bars. According to the invention, the reinforcing element has at least one first region and the first region largely has the repelling profile. The invention further relates to a method for producing a concrete barrier-wall element having a repelling profile on at least one longitudinal side.

Abstract: A system for and method of stabilizing slopes and embankments using one or more soil load transfer elements are disclosed. The present subject matter provides for an efficient method and apparatus for stabilizing shallow landslides and slope instabilities for failing and near-failing soil masses that are underlain by soil materials. The system may include a plurality of load transfer plates affixed to a pile or load transfer section in varying configurations. In one embodiment, one or more upper load transfer plates are preferably used to capture the downslope-moving soil mass and transfer the applied loads to the intermediary pile section. In another embodiment, a plurality of upper load transfer plates can be used to transfer applied loads to a lower pile section.

Abstract: Devices, methods, and systems are provided herein for spacing an outer skin of a roof from the supporting structure of the roof such that the roof shields against weather elements, admits light, and allows advantageous air circulation. In one embodiment, a wedge-shaped device for spacing panels on a roof includes a bottom surface, a top surface inclined at an angle relative to the bottom surface, and an integral support structure connecting the top surface and the bottom surface, the support structure including a plurality of ribs and a plurality of nail boxes.

Abstract: An asphalt paving seam gasket comprises a footing sheet, a seam wall and a ramp extension. Once the footing sheet is anchored to the substrate, the seam wall provides a supporting buttress for the compaction of an initial lane of paving, while the ramp extension provides a sloped access for vehicles to mount the initial lane during the interval before the adjoining lane of paving is applied. Optionally, an adhesive resin is applied to the contact surfaces of the gasket to strengthen their bonding to the asphalt material and prevent moisture penetration between the gasket and the asphalt material.

Abstract: A method of installing an edging system for a unit pavement system includes inserting a main body section of a plate-like stake in a generally horizontal direction underneath at least one paver unit of the plurality of paver units and into a granular material layer upon which the unit pavement system is supported. The method further includes positioning a vertical section of an edge restraint under a horizontal cap section of the plate-like stake such that the vertical section of the edge restraint is arranged parallel to a vertical section of the plate-like stake and underneath a horizontal cap section of the plate-like stake. The method also includes driving a fastener into a ground surface until the fastener engages a horizontal section of the edge restraint. A plate-like stake including a main body section and a clip, which is separate from the main body section, is also disclosed.

The system allows a roundabout to be implemented into an existing intersection on a temporary or semi-permanent basis, in a minimal amount of time and without requiring significant construction at the site of the intersection.

Abstract: Devices and methods for supporting guardrail terminal installations that incorporate safety end treatments such as the GET and the SRT. Preferred embodiments are described wherein guardrail terminal installations are primarily anchored to the ground using weak support posts that are preferably made of metal. The ends of the guardrail installation are secured to the ground using breakaway posts. In operation, the weak posts permit the central portion of the guardrail installation to contain and redirect the vehicle during a lateral collision to the rail member. The anchorage provided by the breakaway end posts helps prevent the guardrail from being excessively displaced, thus preventing the impacting vehicle from breaking through the guardrail. In operation, guardrail terminal assemblies constructed in accordance with the present invention provide an improved support system for the rail member which is more forgiving than conventional strong post anchorages, thereby providing an improvement in safety.

A strap member extends between neighboring extensions, offset from the first wall edge and defining a gap, or anchoring region, when the edging is placed on a substrate. The installed edging may be anchored by fasteners, and by root systems of a concealing layer placed over the edging that grow around the strap member. In addition, a method for installing pavers provides for the fixing of a portion of the edging on the substrate prior to cutting a strap to allow the edging to be deformed in conformance with a curved or irregular boundary.

The parking bumper shell may be injection molded from durable, brightly-colored, UV- and weather-resistant plastic. Undercuts, such as in the form of a plurality of undercut wings or z-puller pins, may be disposed on the interior of the parking bumper shell's top and side walls to aid in holding the parking bumper shell and the heavy filling material together. The parking bumper shell may also include internally projecting hollow extensions that are adapted to receive anchoring posts. While the parking bumper shell is being filled, it may be placed in a rigid frame which helps the shell to keep its shape during filling. The parking bumper shells are light-weight, nestable, and do not require internal steel rebar reinforcement, thereby greatly reducing transportation costs.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system and method for a seamless curb system suitable for a sanitary environment. The structural material has a substantially uniform cross section. The structure is preferably formed of concrete as is used in traditional curb systems. An outer shell is provided which provides a permanent form for containing the structural material. In the preferred embodiment, the outer shell is formed of stainless steel. The elements are sealed to each other in an end to end relationship and along the floor a sanitary environment. At least one anchor is disposed in a slot in the floor of the sanitary environment to locate the curb system.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system and method for a seamless curb system suitable for a sanitary environment while providing an energy absorbing structure. The multicellular structure has a substantially uniform cross section. The structure is formed of hi-density, energy absorbing, expanding polypropylene foam, similar to bumper systems used in cars and trucks. An outer shell is disposed over at least a front portion of the structure. The outer shell may be stainless steel or a polyurea/polyaspartic reinforced coating, as examples. The elements are sealed to each other in an end to end relationship adjacent to a wall to form an energy absorbing protective barrier to the wall. At least one anchor is disposed in a slot in the floor of the manufacturing facility to provide support.

The electrical energy that is created by the device is stored in a storage device. The stored electrical energy will serve to activate the various parts of the parking barrier unit and its parts.

Abstract: A concrete structure for replenishing an aquifer and a method for constructing the same is provided. The structure is comprised of a pavement layer with surface drains that extend through the pavement layer and into an aggregate leach field. The leach field includes leach lines spanning the leach field. An aggregate drain extends from the leach field into a sand lens. Precipitation which falls upon the structure thus flows through the surface drain, absorbed into the aggregate leach field, and transported to the aggregate drains by way of aggregate leach lines. The water is then absorbed into the sand lens, ultimately replenishing the aquifer. Existing conventional pavement structures are retrofitted by the removal of a section of the pavement, and filling the same with porous concrete.

Abstract: A longitudinal, channelizing traffic separator system has interlocking D-shaped curb sections with a recessed delineator post mounting receptacle formed in the top side of interlocked sections at an interlock joint. The receptacle will releasably retain a quick-release delineator post. Tapered nose-end sections may be longitudinally aligned with interlocked curb modules at the beginning and end of a sequence of curb modules. The curb sections and nose-end sections have both longitudinal ribs and lateral plates beneath the top side to transmit top side loads to a support surface such as a roadway or bridge.

Abstract: A concrete structure for replenishing an aquifer and a method for constructing the same is provided. The structure is comprised of a pavement layer with surface drains that extend through the pavement layer and into an aggregate leach field. Precipitation which falls upon the structure thus flows through the surface drain, absorbed into the aggregate leach field, and transported to the aggregate drains by way of aggregate leach lines. Existing conventional pavement structures are retrofitted by the removal of a section of the pavement, and filling the same with porous concrete.
