  • Patent number: 11572787
Abstract: A process is used for the renovation or new construction of corrugated sheet metal tunnels. The corrugated sheets are sandblasted for cleaning and room cleaning. Then anchoring elements are welded to the rough side of the sheets. A layer of shotcrete is applied to this roughened side of the sheets to obtain a smooth coating over the crests and valleys of the sheets. A reinforcement net is placed on this layer and a second layer of shotcrete or mortar is applied to cover the reinforcement net. The top layer can be smoothed. The subsequent corrugated sheet metal tunnel includes corrugated sheets covering the tunnel walls and ceilings with the course direction of their wave crests and valleys parallel to the circumferential direction of the tunnel profile. The corrugated sheets on the inside and/or outside of the tunnel are reinforced with an applied reinforced concrete layer.

Abstract: The present invention is a method for rehabilitating, repairing, and replacing manholes and connected sewer lines. In some embodiments, a compressed liner is inserted through the manhole access hole or the connected sewer lines. Prior to insertion, the liner may be cut and/or folded to be compressed to a size that can fit through the manhole opening or the sewer lines. Once inserted in the manhole or sewer lines, the liner should be expanded, and if necessary, bonded together with a resin along the separation line. Next, a bonding material may be injected between the liner and a surface of the manhole or sewer line to seal any cracks or fissures in the brick or concrete wall and to seal the liner against the existing manhole or sewer line to improve structural integrity and longevity. A new corbel may then be installed and bonded to the liner.

  • Patent number: 8613567
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a clip connector for joining steel ribs together end to end to provide a support for lateral wood or steel beams used to line a tunnel. The clip connector has a generally C shaped cross section with a web section having a width approximately equal to the width of the flange of the steel rib and a length and shape sufficient to overlap the ends of the joined steel ribs. The clip has flanges extending from either side of the web to wrap around the flange of steel ribs and contain the flange of the steel rib.

  • Patent number: 8590575
Abstract: Stretch-resistant liners for lining pipes, pipes lined with stretch-resistant liners, and methods for lining pipes with stretch-resistant liners. The liners are made from a lamination that includes a sealing layer, a strength layer of stretch-resistant woven material that overlies the sealing layer, a support layer of non-woven resin-impregnated material that overlies the strength layer, and a barrier layer that overlies the support layer. The lamination is rolled into a tube and inverted when inserted into a pipe so that the barrier layer is the layer that abuts the interior wall of the pipe, the support layer underlies the barrier layer, the strength layer underlies the support layer and the sealing layer underlies the strength layer is contacted by materials flowing through the pipe.

  • Patent number: 8580364
Abstract: A liner tube for repairing existing pipes is provided. The liner tube is sufficient flexible to lie substantially flat under its own weight thereby defining an upper portion and a lower portion. The liner tube includes an inner layer, an outer layer disposed around the inner layer, a first intermediate layer disposed between the inner layer and the outer layer, the first intermediate layer being wrapped around the inner layer to overlap itself and define a first overlap portion in the upper portion, and a second intermediate layer disposed between the first intermediate layer and the outer layer, the second intermediate layer being wrapped around the first intermediate layer to overlap itself and define a second overlap portion in the lower portion. The first and second intermediate layers include a porous material and the inner layer includes material substantially impermeable to liquids. Systems used to manufacture the liner tube are also provided.

Abstract: A rehabilitating pipe segment for assembling a rehabilitating pipe inside an existing pipe. The rehabilitating pipe segment has first and second segment halves connectable together to provide for the rehabilitating pipe segment an internal surface plate and side and end plates surrounding peripheral edges of the internal surface plate. The first and second segment halves are configured to move relative to one another in a width direction of the rehabilitating pipe segment corresponding to a pipe length direction of the rehabilitating pipe so that the first and second pipe segment halves expand and contract to make the width of the rehabilitating pipe segment variable in the width direction of the rehabilitating pipe segment.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for lining the wall of a manhole. The apparatus may include a liner assembly, which includes an expansion device, an auxiliary bladder, a primary bladder, and a liner. The auxiliary bladder is first inflated near the top of the manhole. Next the primary bladder may be expanded to press the liner against the wall of the manhole. The liner, being impregnated with a resinous material, is pressed against the wall until the resinous material cures and hardens. The expansion device, auxiliary bladder, and primary bladder are then removed from the manhole. The result is a repaired manhole wall.
