Patent number: 9919389Abstract: The provided method and material-removing tool serve for producing an exact-fit cylindrical bore with a high degree of surface quality and a length that may be a multiple of the diameter from an existing bore with a finishing allowance. In order to reduce the time taken for the finishing by means of a reamer to be performed, it is proposed to use a tool in the form of an impact die, which is formed at the front end with a circular or substantially circular cutting edge, the diameter of which corresponds to the nominal diameter of the bore to be produced, and which tapers from directly behind the cutting edge or behind a front region of a certain length.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: March 20, 2018Assignee: Audi AGInventors: Peter Kopton, Eugen Maurer

Patent number: 6527484Abstract: A helical gear tooth broach having an elongate body having a series of axially aligned and spaced teeth disposed thereon. The direction of tooth spaces or traces of the teeth in a longitudinally extending helical alignment and the direction of the gullets of the teeth in a side by side circumferentially extending helical arrangement are both oriented at a right-upward or a left-upward helix angle in common with each other.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2001Date of Patent: March 4, 2003Assignees: Nachi-Fujikoshi Corp., Aisin AW Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kazuyuki Nakamura, Yasushi Nogawa, Hidetaka Nakae, Katsuhiko Nishimura

Patent number: 6076998Abstract: A replaceable blade for a deburring device which is installed in a deburring mold with a cavity for inserting and pulling out a work. The replaceable blade comprises a main body, several intake channels which are provided from the surface to the inside of the main body, a vertical slot which penetrates through in the longitudinal direction of the main body and connects with the intake channel for leading burrs and several cutting edges provided in the main body of the blade. The intake channel for leading burrs is provided in the main body diagonally, as seen from the front of the main body. Mentioned several cutting edges are provided at the lower part of the surface portion of each intake channel.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1998Date of Patent: June 20, 2000Inventor: Yasuaki Okuya

Patent number: 5282702Abstract: A finish broaching tool for finish cutting helical splines on the interior of an annular workpiece has a multiplicity of groups of circumferentially disposed teeth. Each group of circumferentially disposed teeth is formed on an individual wafer adapted to be mounted on the trailing end of a conventional broaching bar. The teeth of each wafer are formed on a predetermined helical angle and are adapted to helically align with the teeth of the other wafers. The wafers are sized so as to provide contact between the teeth of two or more wafers throughout substantially the entire finish broaching process.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 1992Date of Patent: February 1, 1994Assignee: New Venture Gear, Inc.Inventor: Brian M. Fitzgerald

Patent number: 4671709Abstract: A tooth broach designed for use with thin workpieces having its teeth arranged in circumferentially extending sets in each of which the teeth are arranged in groups of one or more teeth, and gaps devoid of teeth between adjacent groups. The teeth are further arranged in longitudinally extending series, in which consecutive teeth in each series are separated by gaps in the adjacent sets. This provides for reduced axial spacing between axially adjacent sets of teeth to maintain cutting action at all times with a thin workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1986Date of Patent: June 9, 1987Assignee: National Broach & Machine CompanyInventors: Axel B. Patent number: 4566826Abstract: An apparatus for supporting a cutting insert is disclosed. A rotatable head includes at least one peripheral slot which has a generally flat bottom and a pair of parallel sides. The parallel sides of the slot are tilted relative to the bottom so that the bottom of the slot forms an acute corner with one side and an obtuse corner with the other side. An insert seat is provided which has a bottom and a back side which meet at an acute angle conformed to the acute corner of the slot. The seat has a front side with a recess to support the cutting insert in a general radial posture relative to the rotatable head. The seat is secured to the slot with the back side of the seat flush with the side of the slot forming the acute corner. The location of the bottom of the seat relative to the bottom of the slot is adjustable. A wedge is forced between the insert and the side of the slot forming the obtuse corner to confine the insert between the wedge and the seat.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1984Date of Patent: January 28, 1986Inventor: Lawrence C. Dickinson

Patent number: 4323130Abstract: A new and improved drill bit for connection on a drill string has a hollow tubular body with an end cutting face and an exterior peripheral stabilizer surface with cylindrical sintered carbide inserts positioned therein. Nozzle passages extend from the interior of the bit body through the cutting face, preferably at an angle of about 10.degree.-25.degree. relative to the longitudinal axis of the body, and consist of a passage in the bit body and a removable and interchangeable nozzle member. The nozzle member is secured in place either by peripheral grooves and snap rings or aligned smaller passages in the nozzle member and the bit body having a retaining pin positioned therein.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1980Date of Patent: April 6, 1982Assignee: Strata Bit CorporationInventor: Mahlon Dennis

Patent number: 4214650Abstract: A brake adjuster for implementation between the brake housing and pressure plate of a brake disk stack. A casing is fixedly secured to the brake housing and receives therein a spring follower. Maintained within the spring follower and engaged at one end thereof is a tubular member. Passing through the tubular member and through the casing is a shaft, the shaft being fixedly secured to the pressure plate at a first end thereof and maintaining a multi-sided broach on the other end thereof. The broach is of such geometry as to make contacting engagement with the interior surface of the tube. Upon successive brake applications, the broaching or cutting surfaces of the broach cut portions of the inner wall of the tube, allowing the shaft to telescope from the casing in order to maintain a fixed built-in clearance among the disks of the brake disk stack.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1978Date of Patent: July 29, 1980Assignee: Goodyear Aerospace CorporationInventors: Richard L. Crossman, Robert J. French
