Patent number: 11007581Abstract: A device for the precise angular positioning of tool-holders includes a front part, a rear part, and a plug cooperating with a pair of pins arranged orthogonally relative to the plug. A first portion of the plug is inserted in a blind hole formed in the front part and a second portion of the plug is inserted in a corresponding blind hole formed in a front area defining a plate on the rear part of the tool-holder. The plate of the rear part has an upper surface in which a pair of bored holes is formed having equal diameters and depths. The bored holes extend vertically in the plate and orthogonally relative to the plug. A pin is rotatably inserted in each of the pair of bored holes to selectively rotate the plug in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction to orientate the front part relative to the rear part.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2018Date of Patent: May 18, 2021Assignee: ALGRA S.P.A.Inventor: Giovanni Vezzoli

Patent number: 8622669Abstract: A broaching tool for machining a workpiece formed of a parallelogram shaped insert which fits within a slot formed in a body member. The insert has two juxtaposed corners either of which may be oriented at the distal end of the body member to function as a cutting edge. Repositioning of the insert to place either cutting edge in place is provided by flipping it over in its engagement within the slot. The inserts may be provided in a kit of differently configured inserts to yield different cutting widths.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2009Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Inventor: James Joseph Gardner

Patent number: 6527484Abstract: A helical gear tooth broach having an elongate body having a series of axially aligned and spaced teeth disposed thereon. The direction of tooth spaces or traces of the teeth in a longitudinally extending helical alignment and the direction of the gullets of the teeth in a side by side circumferentially extending helical arrangement are both oriented at a right-upward or a left-upward helix angle in common with each other.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2001Date of Patent: March 4, 2003Assignees: Nachi-Fujikoshi Corp., Aisin AW Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kazuyuki Nakamura, Yasushi Nogawa, Hidetaka Nakae, Katsuhiko Nishimura

Patent number: 6076998Abstract: A replaceable blade for a deburring device which is installed in a deburring mold with a cavity for inserting and pulling out a work. The replaceable blade comprises a main body, several intake channels which are provided from the surface to the inside of the main body, a vertical slot which penetrates through in the longitudinal direction of the main body and connects with the intake channel for leading burrs and several cutting edges provided in the main body of the blade. The intake channel for leading burrs is provided in the main body diagonally, as seen from the front of the main body. Mentioned several cutting edges are provided at the lower part of the surface portion of each intake channel.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1998Date of Patent: June 20, 2000Inventor: Yasuaki Okuya

Patent number: 5176480Abstract: A broaching insert, such as a slotter or semifinisher, which cuts through a workpiece is configured such that side cutting edges of the broaching insert contact the workpiece simultaneously. If the broaching insert is a slotter, a center portion of the cutting edge which interconnects the side cutting edge makes contact with the workpiece ahead of the side cutting edges. If the insert is a semi-finisher, the side cutting edges are scalloped so as to reduce shock upon engagement with the workpiece. The broaching insert is ideally suited to the cutting of workpieces oriented obliquely relative to the direction of cutting. In order to minimize snap-back of the broaching insert as it exits the workpiece, the broaching insert is sequentially passed through back-up disks of gradually diminishing hardness, whereby the compressive loading on the insert is relieved gradually.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1990Date of Patent: January 5, 1993Assignee: Carboloy Inc.Inventor: Walter H. Patent number: 5135339Abstract: A broaching tool includes a holder and a plurality of broaching inserts mounted therein. Spacers are situated between successive pairs of inserts and are formed of a tougher material than the inserts. Each spacer includes a reinforcing web which abuts against a rear surface of its respective leading insert. The reinforcing web extends higher than a lower level of the cutting edge of that respective leading insert, so as to reinforce that insert. The web terminates short of its respective trailing insert, whereby a space is formed between the reinforcing web and the trailing insert for receiving chips formed by the latter.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1991Date of Patent: August 4, 1992Assignee: Carboloy Inc.Inventors: Walter H. Patent number: 4615091Abstract: A method of processing a scroll member having a spiral wrap and an end plate which is conducted by effecting a shaving on at least one side surface of the spiral wrap by a tool while applying to the tool both of an axial small force and an ultrasonic oscillation simultaneously. An apparatus is proposed which comprises a shaving tool having a spiral groove of the same configuration as the spiral wrap, and a cutting edge portion formed on at least one side edge of the groove over the entire length of the side edge. A tool supporting device supports the shaving tool, and a blank supporting device supports a scroll blank such that the scroll blank opposes to the shaving tool. A device is connected to the tool supporting means and is adapted to impart to the tool a pressing force necessary for effecting the shaving, and an ultrasonic oscillation generating device is adapted to impart an ultrasonic oscillation to one of the tool or the blank.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1983Date of Patent: October 7, 1986Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Toshikazu Niwa, Mineo Takahashi, Kazumi Aiba

Patent number: 4564320Abstract: A form broaching assembly made up of a base block with an elongate recess to receive the root end of a series of broaching teeth, a plurality of hold-down blocks interengaged with the teeth, and wedge blocks acting on the hold-down blocks to insure an accurate alignment of the broaching teeth. The individual teeth may be manufactured with a true form relief as distinguished from a one-piece tool where this relief cannot be readily and successfully achieved.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1984Date of Patent: January 14, 1986Inventor: Robert E. Patent number: 4557639Abstract: Two cutting tool inserts are fastened at each side of a cutting tool insert holder to have their active primary cutting edges aligned. A third cutting tool insert is displaced in relation to the other two cutting tool inserts in the cutting direction such that its active primary cutting edge overlaps in extent the active primary cutting edges of the two aligned cutting tool inserts. This produces an effective total length of the cutting edges which corresponds to the sum of the edge lengths of the three cutting tool inserts less the two overlapping regions. Should one of the cutting tool inserts chip or break off in the region of the overlapping active primary cutting edges, the planing or shaping of hardened gear tooth flanks of a roughed-out gear blank or workpiece can nevertheless be continued since such chipping of the cutting edge has no detrimental influence on the workpiece due to the overlapping.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1984Date of Patent: December 10, 1985Assignee: Maag Gear-wheel & Machine Company LimitedInventor: Rudolf Fischer
