  • Patent number: 7150590
Abstract: A machining tool, especially a milling tool, includes a shaft-like holder defining a longitudinal axis (13). A seat (9) is provided in the front face of the holder for a cutting plate that can be inserted into the holder. The cutting plate has a coupling part for mounting in the seat (9) of the holder. The coupling part has three ribs which project axially from the end surface of the cutting plate that is opposite the holder and which extend radially. The ribs are provided for engagement in complementary grooves (31) configured in the seat (9) of the holder. Their side walls (37 and 35) form driving surfaces and support surfaces, which interact for transmitting a machining torque, or as axial position safety-catch, with corresponding surfaces of the flanks of the ribs of the cutting plate.

  • Patent number: 7140407
Abstract: A new design and configuration for tree stump cutting tooth and its corresponding holding bracket. Notch(s) on the tooth and rib(s) on the bracket are used to allow fast installation of tooth without gauging, reduced the time needed for such necessary tasks. The notch/rib structure also increases the clamping power of the bracket, reducing the possibility that any tooth would fly out, due to the centrifugal force, and cause injury. Wide notches are employed on certain heavy-duty tooth and allow the installation to be done quickly in two positions, and a small range in between the two positions.

  • Patent number: 6942432
Abstract: A milling tool includes a milling body and a plurality of insert-carrying cartridges mounted in the milling body. Each cartridge includes front and rear side surfaces which oppose leading and trailing walls of a pocket formed in the milling body. The cartridge also includes inner and outer flank surfaces which interconnect the front and rear side surfaces. The body includes a slot which opens into the front side surface at a location intermediate the ends of the cartridge, to divide the body into a rigid base portion and an expandable portion. The base portion has a seat for a cutting insert. A threaded hole is formed in the slot intermediate the slot ends to receive a threaded wedge screw. Tightening of the screw causes the expandable portion to be expanded into contact with the leading wall of the pocket and thereby push the base portion into tight contact with the trailing wall of the pocket. Accordingly, the cartridge is secured within the pocket by a tight frictional contact which resists chatter.

  • Publication number: 20020098047
Abstract: The T-slot milling cutter disclosed employs an indexable insert having two alternative edge surfaces which serve alternatively as the rake face and rear abutting face of the insert which transfers the cutting force to the rear wall of the insert pocket of the cutter. The alternative edge surfaces comprise three facets, once central to the surface and the other two receding from the central facet at equal angles thereto. They serve primarily to wedge the insert into mating angular surfaces in the rear wall of the insert pocket to secure the insert against dislodgement when held in the pocket by the customary attaching screw and, by their obliquity to the cutting direction, improve the cutting action when serving as the rake face.

Abstract: A cutter plate, in particular a spherical face milling cutter, is provided for a cutting tool, and is made of a hard metal and has four wings with cutting edges. The cutting body, which is cruciform in a view from the front, has cutting edges, which extend from the area of the circumference of the cutting tool as far as its axis of rotation, or at least close to it. A simple clamping device, for example a clamping claw, is sufficient for fastening the cutting body on the tool body. The cutting body provides a distribution of the forces acting on one or several wings to all wings, in particular during interrupted cutting, wherein not all the cutting edges of the cutting body are in simultaneous contact with the workpiece, so that a good force transfer to the tool body is possible.

This tool comprises a plurality of cutter inserts having corresponding edges whereby each edge mills only a portion of the machine part radius. The tool offers significant improvement in part feedrate in high speed milling applications requiring either a longer tool reach or set length or parts having taller or thinner edges without effects of deflection or chatter between the part and tool.
