Work-engaging Surface Parallel To Tool-axis Patents (Class 408/114)
  • Patent number: 8757938
Abstract: A tool for guiding a drill from both sides of a post having a top and at least one circumscribing side so that a single longitudinal axial bore is formed, the tool comprising: a first part adapted to clamp over the top of the post and position first and second guide plates on opposing sides of the post, the first and second guide plates having openings formed therein; and a second part adapted to position two opposing drill bushings in the openings in the first and second guide plates.

Abstract: The hole drilling process is for drilling a hole on a supported tube sheet by using a first drilling tool that can drill a hole with a diameter smaller than that of a mounting hole that is to become a target hole, and a second drilling tool that can drill a hole with a diameter equal to the diameter of the target hole, the process including: a temporary hole drilling step in which a temporary hole with a predetermined depth set beforehand is drilled by moving the first drilling tool to a drilled position set beforehand; a hole measuring step in which a distance (S) between an existing mounting hole and the temporary hole; a drilled position correcting step in which the drilled position is corrected based upon the distance (S) between the mounting hole and the temporary hole.

  • Patent number: 7510357
Abstract: A boring device is inserted into a lateral pipe to bore a pipe lining material inserted into a main pipe across the lateral pipe intersecting therewith and a portion of which blocks an opening of the lateral pipe that communicates with the main pipe. The boring device has a rotatable shaft, a bearing member for rotatably bearing the rotatable shaft, and a boring blade mounted on the rotatable shaft for rotation therewith to bore through the portion of the pipe lining material that is blocking the opening of the lateral pipe. A supporting member is mounted on one side of the bearing member. An inflatable bag is mounted on the other side of the external periphery of the bearing member. The inflatable bag is inflatable in the lateral pipe so that the inflatable bag and the supporting member are pressed against an internal peripheral surface of the lateral pipe.

  • Publication number: 20080025802
Abstract: It is an object to provide a CBN cutting tool using cBN-based sintered bodies which shows high resistance to chipping even when a hard ferric workpiece which is difficult to cut is cut at a high feed rate for high-speed, high-efficiency machining, and which can provide a machined surface that shows superior surface roughness, and improved fatigue life and sealability. A cBN-based sintered body of a cutting tip has an arcuate nose 5, a rake face 6, flanks 7 and a negative land 9. One of the cutting edges 10 defined between the negative land 9 and the flanks 7 that serves as an end cutting edge forms an inclination angle ?? of not less than 20 degrees and not more than 35 degrees with respect to the rake face. Further, the cutting edges 10 are positioned such that they are the lowest at the apex P of the arcuate nose and gradually rise from the apex P toward two points Q1 and Q2, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4583257
Abstract: A baseplate carries an axially-advanceable rotating cutter. A V-block and clamp head are aligned on the plate to locate and secure a robot-positioned welding torch nozzle in a vertical attitude. After clamping the nozzle in position, the rotating cutter is advanced into the nozzle bore to remove accumulated internal weld spatter. The machined-away weld spatter can therefore be discharged under the influence of gravity or by a blast of purging air applied to the torch nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4419032
Abstract: An improved boring tool comprising a generally elongated housing member, an angle drive mechanism providing rotation about an axis at right angles to the housing member, and a unique floating boring bit which is slidably mounted upon the angle drive mechanism for axial movement along the axis of rotation. The boring bit features a central lead screw for drawing the bit axially into and through the workpiece over which the boring bit is placed as permitted by the floating mounting. A telescoping wall structure of the boring bit permits the bit to continue extending axially to complete penetration of the workpiece. An integral power source may be provided or provision made for the attachment of a portable electric drill or other readily available external power source. The cutting head of the boring bit may be removably mounted to facilitate replacement of worn cutting surfaces and to permit substitution of boring bits of different sizes for boring holes of different diameters.
