  • Patent number: 11857391
Abstract: A drill bit and method for normalizing bone is provided. The drill bit has a non-round drill bit core that is adapted to cut hard bone and to not cut soft bone. The drill bit has a cutting edge which may be positioned within a compression zone of the non-round drill bit core. The rotational speed of the drill bit and the profile of the drill bit core are tuned so that hard bone recovers into a cutting zone defined by the cutting edge while soft bone remains outside of the cutting zone. The insertion torque of the drill bit can be measured to determine when the normalization is adequate.

Abstract: A boring arrangement is adapted to be connected to a boring machine. The boring arrangement includes, but is not limited to a boring bit for boring a final hole or a countersink hole in a hole of a workpiece with a fastening portion adapted to be secured to the boring machine. A stopping element is also included that is movably connected to the boring bit so as to enable a relative motion in a boring feed advance direction and with an end facing away from the fastening portion and further an element movable to the boring bit so as to enable a relative motion in the boring feed advance direction. The element has a hollow interior space therein adapted to allow the boring bit to pass therethrough in the boring feed advance direction so as to contact the workpiece and bore a final hole or a countersink hole therein. The element includes, but is not limited to an end facing towards to the stopping element.

Abstract: A dental drill (10) defining a bore diameter and a drill stop sleeve (22) which is transparent or translucent, thereby improving the view of the drilled hole formed by the drilling during the operation. The drill stop sleeve (22) comprises an uninterrupted circumferential lip (34), which interacts with a groove (24) formed in the shank part (16) of the dental drill (10) and thus fixes the drill stop sleeve (22) on the dental drill (10). The drill stop sleeves (22) of equal length are held in a blister of a set, the blister having, for each drill stop sleeve (22), a specific receiving recess that is closed in a sterile manner. Each blister comprises several drill stop sleeves with sleeve diameters corresponding to the bore diameters.

Abstract: A hole saw includes a depth stop for limiting the depth of penetration of the hole saw into a workpiece. The blade of the hole saw includes a plurality of slots, one of which is used to receive the depth stop. The depth stop is mounted to the blade by positioning a portion of the depth stop within the slot and sliding the depth stop from an unsecured position to a secured position. Once in the secured position, a locking member is moved within the depth stop to secure the depth stop in place. In use, the blade is advanced through the workpiece until the depth stop contacts the proximal surface of the workpiece.

Abstract: A safety mechanism includes multiple positioning recesses defined in a bottom face of the head of the adjusting sleeve, a stop received in one of the positioning recesses, a slot defined in a top face of the body, an urging spring received in the slot, and a urging ball partially received in the slot and urged by the urging spring. Therefore, rotation of the adjusting sleeve relative to the body is limited due to engagement between the urging ball and the stop which is received in one of the positioning recesses and separation between the adjusting sleeve and the body is avoided.

Abstract: A floating tool-bit depth controlling nosepiece for a spring loaded tool holder is used to countersink holes of equal size when the height of the work piece material changes. The floating tool-bit depth controlling nosepiece, driven by a cnc machine, is rigidly coupled to the floating portion of the tool holding element. The floating depth controlling nosepiece has a bearing on the end to allow an area of the nosepiece to stop rotating when the nosepiece is pressed against the work-piece surface. Since the area of the nosepiece that comes into contact with the work-piece is no longer spinning in relationship with the work-piece, the possibility of scratching the work-piece surface is reduced. Additionally, the nosepiece has cutouts therein to expel machined chips during countersinking of holes.

Abstract: A tool positioning device and a machining element have simple structures which can reduce running cost. In addition to a hole that engages with a shank of an end mill, a channel is provided so that it penetrates through the device such that one end thereof communicates with an upper face of the device and the other end communicates with a lower end of the device. In this case, it is more effective to provide a concave portion that is opened to the upper face and communicates with the hole. The same effect may be obtained by making a cylindrical hole, for example, instead of the channel.
