Including Cutter And Tracer Fixed To Move Laterally Together Patents (Class 409/103)
  • Patent number: 6905293
Abstract: The invention relates to an automatic machine tool, for the production of base structures, for false teeth, in particular, for tooth crowns and/or tooth bridges of exact three-dimensional shape. Said base structures may be fixed to prepared natural and/or artificial tooth stumps. The machine tool comprises a machine frame, or a body, a work piece carrier, with a rotation shaft, at least one digitization unit, at least one machining unit and an electronic arithmetic and control unit for all drive lines. A carrier for the workpiece, a blank, and/or for the machining unit(s), serves as displacement unit, with three translational axes in the x-, y- and z-directions. The digitization of the preparation model and the machining of the blank are carried out on the same machine tool, at different times. The machining paths for the blank are calculated from the measured and stored digitized data and a predetermined material-specific scaling factor, before the machining of the blank.

  • Patent number: 4842454
Abstract: An arrangement is used for the efficient mass production of individual bodies for the artificial rebuilding of teeth, for example. The arrangement comprises a first pair of co-rotating elements, of which the first element (1) is so arranged as to support a replica (21) of a body which is to be produced, and the second element (2) is so arranged as to support a blank from which the body is to be produced. The replica and the blank are caused to rotate synchronously about the axis of rotation (3, 4) of the respective element. In a second pair of elements a third element supports a sensing device (31) which is capable of interacting with the external contour of the replica, and a fourth element supports a tool (52) by means of which the blank is capable of being machined. The first and second pairs of elements are capable of being displaced relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 4830552
Abstract: A device for engraving intaglio printing cylinders is provided having the engraving needle cutting the small screen cups in the intaglio printing cylinder and the scanning element applied to the cylinder jointly supported in a holding device. The scanning element is engaged by a damping element having a piston supported on a pressure spring and guided in a cylindrical casing. A tappet is connected to the piston and engages the scanning element or a handwheel mounted on such element. Motions of the scanning element in the direction of its longitudinal axis are damped by the damping element thereby eliminating undesirable vibrations of the holding device and thus of the engraving needle.

  • Patent number: 4623288
Abstract: Apparatus for fabricating a compensating filter for use in radiation therapy includes a stylus for tracing the profile of a surface portion of a patient and a cutter for cutting a form. The stylus and cutter are positioned on first and second guides which are connected by a tie bar. A plurality of linkages translate movement of the stylus along its guide to the cutter along its guide. A mold is cut in the form which is filled with compensating material for forming the filter. The ratio of movement of the stylus to the cutter is established by the linkages in accordance with the ratio of radiation absorption of the compensating material to the radiation absorption of human tissue.

  • Patent number: 4364695
Abstract: A carving machine which has a tubular framework that allows easy attachment of one or more supplemental frames and additional carving spindles to the base frame. The length of the machine frame also can be extended very easily to accommodate longer workpieces. The carver includes individual motors driving the carving tools. The motors are mounted in housings provided with vacuum attachments for inducing a flow of cooling air for the individual motors. The housings also are sound deadened to reduce the noise level.

  • Patent number: 4300863
Abstract: A system for suspending a tool for horizontal movement with respect to a workpiece, wherein a carriage carrying said tool is slidably carried on a set of parallel rails, which are in turn slidably carried by a second set of parallel rails at right angles to the first set of rails, to allow motion of the tool along any path in a horizontal plane. The tool suspension system is disclosed in a sign cutting apparatus wherein a template and workpiece are mounted on a work table and the carriage includes a stylus for tracing a pattern on the template to be reproduced in the workpiece by movement of the tool utilizing the suspension system, which is independent of the work table.
