  • Patent number: 6357976
Abstract: In a method for positioning engraving elements in an electronic engraving machine for a rotogravure printing cylinder engraving at least two adjacent lying engraving areas of selected widths by engraving with an engraving element respectively assigned thereto, axial reference positions are selected for the engraving elements whose axial distances to each other correspond to the selected widths of the engraving areas that are to be engraved. An electronic position measuring system formed essentially of a video camera and an image evaluation unit is successively placed on the axial reference positions. At each reference position, the axial divergence of the tip of the stylus pertaining to the appropriate engraving element or the divergence of at least one cup which is test engraved by the engraving element from the reference position is determined using the position measuring system.

  • Patent number: 6283019
Abstract: In a method for engraving printing cylinders for rotogravure in an electronic engraving machine, at least two engraving lanes with predetermined lane widths lying side-by-side in an axial direction of the printing cylinder are engraved with a respectively allocated engraving element. Before the engraving, an axial reference position is predetermined for each engraving element, the axial spacings thereof relative to one another corresponding to the predetermined lane widths of the engraving lanes. The engraving elements are roughly positioned to their reference positions. Subsequently, the axial spacing errors between the reference positions and the actual position of the engraving element the rough positions are measured. During engraving, the engraving elements are moved along the printing cylinder with the faulty spacings relative to one another caused by their rough positioning.

  • Patent number: 5492057
Abstract: A system for locating a plurality of engraving heads on an engraver wherein a plurality of engraving heads are automatically positioned into a predetermined configuration. A mechanism for positioning the engraving heads preferably includes a leadscrew and a drive nut which is rotatable relative to the leadscrew. In addition, each of the engraving heads preferably includes a rotatable drive nut with a respective motor for rotating the nut whereby the heads may be selectively positioned into a predetermined configuration. In a further aspect of the invention, the engraving heads are mounted on a carriage which is movable in an axial direction relative to a cylinder to be engraved. The heads are selectively positionable on the carriage and the carriage includes a nut threadably engaged with a leadscrew whereby the carriage may be driven in an axial direction relative to the cylinder to be engraved.

  • Patent number: 5088755
Abstract: This snow ski, the sides of which have an inclination which is variable in relation to the plane of the sole of the ski, at different points along its length, and are constituted by curved convex or concave lines, in which the profiles of the sides are of variable curvature according to the cross-section in question of the ski.A procedure for manufacturing this ski consists, starting from a rough ski, in carrying out the machining of the lateral parts of the ski with the aid of a rotary tool with an axis perpendicular to the plane of the upper surface of the ski, the active surface of which is generated by a continuous monotonic curve, by carrying out a relative movement of the tool and of the ski simultaneously, in the direction of the length of the ski, in the direction of the width of the ski and in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the upper surface of the ski.

  • Patent number: 4909292
Abstract: A boring, mortising, tenoning and duplicating woodworking machine including a horizontally movable workpiece support platform and vertically movable cutting tool support member. A tracing element is preferably mounted to the cutting tool support structure for tracing an object mounted to the workpiece support platform so that the object can be duplicated in the workpiece. A series of apertures are defined in the cutting tool support structure so that exhaust air from the engine can facilitate the removal of debris from the cutting tool/workpiece interface. Further a guard is provided for protecting the operator from flying wood chips and the like and wiper elements are mounted to wheels of the workpiece support platform to maintain the tracks of the workpiece support platform clear of wood chips and debris which would hinder the cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 4787430
Abstract: A duplicating router of the type in which a cutter unit provided with a motor and a cutter is fed vertically and horizontally with respect to a base. A cutter unit feeding screw rod is installed parallel with guide bars and rotates for operation on a vertical guide frame formed through framing left and right guides fitted movably up and down in elongated guide grooves provided on vertical guide plates fixed on both sides of the base and two parallel guide bars supporting the cutter unit for movement to the left and right, thus forming a screw feeding means. A link handle in a link motion is connected between the base and the left and right guides, thus forming a link feeding means. A template is fixed on upper portions of the vertical guide plates. A duplicating recessed groove is formed in the template in the direction orthogonal to an upper surface of the base.
