  • Patent number: 9339906
Abstract: A pneumatic rotary tool including a housing having an inlet passage. The inlet passage extends from an inlet operatively connectable to an air source. The inlet passage extends to a motor cylinder inside the housing. The housing has an outlet passage extending from the motor cylinder to an outlet. The tool includes a rotor mounted in the cylinder for rotation relative to the cylinder under pneumatic power. The tool includes a valve positioned along the inlet passage operable to selectively permit air to pass for rotating the rotor and flowing through the outlet. The tool has a cutter head connected to the rotor including a clamp for holding a cutter to cut material as the head rotates. The cutter head is positioned in the outlet so air passing through the outlet passes over the head to blow material away from the head as the cutter cuts the material.

  • Patent number: 8740521
Abstract: The present invention relates to a chamfer device for machining a weld bead surface, which specifically carries out a chamfering process on the welding bead surfaces of objects to be processed (such as metal sheet materials and pipes). In the present invention, immediately after a chamfering-amount-adjustment unit has been rotated and released, a position-setting pin is inserted into a securing recess in the chamfering-amount-adjustment unit, while the chamfering amount is adjusted in precise units and simultaneously locked at a predetermined chamfering amount which is automatically maintained, and the adjustment of the chamfering amount is achieved in a straightforward fashion with just one touch. When the chamfering-amount-adjustment unit is operated, a mobile cutter shaft moves vertically and as it does so the chamfering amount is adjusted in such a way that the chamfering amount can be immediately and rapidly adjusted while continuously operating without regard to any cutter rotation action.

  • Patent number: 8708624
Abstract: A chip deflector repositionable as needed relative to a bottom work contacting surface of a hand-held power router. The chip deflector can be positioned in a shielding location below the bottom work contacting surface of the router. When the chip deflector is in the shielding position and the router is held so that the deflector is between the cutter and the worker it will deflect debris away from the operator. When not useful the chip deflector can instantly be repositioned to a non-shielding location flush with or above the bottom work contacting surface of the router. When in the non-shielding location no portion of the chip deflector protrudes beyond the bottom work contacting surface of the router thereby allowing the router to perform all basic routing without obstruction. Repositioning requires no tools or downtime plus safety and comfort are enhanced. Embodiments may be provided as original equipment or aftermarket retrofits.

Abstract: A plunge router and kit are provided. In some aspects, a kit includes a first router base, a second router base, a motor assembly, and a depth adjustment mechanism at least partially supported by the motor assembly. The motor assembly is interchangeably supported by the first and second router bases. The depth adjustment mechanism adjusts a depth of cut of a tool element relative to the router base on which it is supported. The motor assembly may also be inserted into and supported by the first and second router bases along a substantially linear path. In other aspects, a depth of cut of a plunge router is finely adjustable. The depth of cut may also be coarsely adjustable.

  • Patent number: 7900662
Abstract: A power tool includes a motor assembly, a base assembly, and a clamp assembly coupled to the motor assembly or the base assembly to selectively provide a retention force to the other to removably couple the motor assembly and the base assembly. The clamp assembly includes a handle member, a fulcrum member, and a biasing lever member. The lever member includes a first portion and a second portion disposed on opposite sides of the fulcrum member. The handle member is coupled to the first portion, and the handle member is movable between an open and closed position. The handle member rotates the first and second portions of the biasing lever member about the fulcrum member when moving from the open to the closed position, causing the second portion of the lever member to provide the retention force.

Abstract: A routing machine comprises a plunge post, an electric motor, and a motor housing slideably connected to the plunge post. The motor housing defines an upper surface. A lockpiece selectively engages the plunge post between a locked position and an unlocked position. The lockpiece is allowed to slide relative to the plunge post along with the electric motor and motor housing when the lockpiece is in an unlocked position. The lockpiece is configured to lock in place relative to the plunge post and limit the extent to which the electric motor and motor housing may slide relative to the plunge post when the lockpiece is in the locked position. A fine adjustment mechanism is moveably connected to the lockpiece. The fine adjustment mechanism is configured to move the electric motor and motor housing relative to the plunge post when the lockpiece is in the locked position.
