Particular Article Accommodation Patents (Class 410/2)
  • Patent number: 4441736
Abstract: A pair of relatively adjustable elongate struts adapted to be inserted between a part of a motorcycle chassis and a supporting wheel to block flexing of the motorcycle suspension system when the motorcycle is being hauled on a carrier over rough terrain or the like. A device is provided at the remote end of one of the struts to interlock with the tread of the wheel tire and another element is provided at the remote end of the other strut to interlock with the chassis part to prevent dislodging of the struts due to bouncing of the motorcycle while in transit. A locking ring is slidable into position to embrace both struts to lock the same in extended colinear relationship.

  • Patent number: 4419033
Abstract: A system for releasably securing support elements in a space vehicle wher a holding element extending through the support elements is pivotally mounted to a lever at the inner end thereof with a spring loaded release lever maintaining the outer end of the holding element in securing position. The inner end of the holding element is pivotally mounted to the lever at a point located eccentrically relative to the point of rotation of the lever and a releasable spring loaded piston operates upon severing of a blocking element to release the spring loaded piston to enable the lever to rotate to move the holding element so that the release lever engaging the outer end thereof may operate to release the holding engagement between the release lever and a support bushing whereupon the support elements will be released for movement. A limitation member is provided to limit the angle of movement of the release lever to 90.degree. when releasing the outer end of the holding element.

  • Patent number: 4394100
Abstract: A removable cover for a pickup truck cargo box employing a standard 4.times.8 foot sheet of plywood to provide a second load level and a subjacent covered security area. A horizontally disposed channel is provided in the box front wall and stepped support surfaces are formed on the wheel housings. The tailgate has a horizontally disposed channel in its inner panel located in opposed relation with the front wall channel. The channels and wheel housing surfaces are sized to receive a standard rectangular building panel positioned with its forward edge in the front wall channel supported on the wheel housing surfaces in a horizontal plane. The panel's length results in its rearward edge being received and held in the tailgate channel upon the tailgate being pivoted to its upright closed position.

  • Patent number: 4370088
Abstract: A trailer for loading and unloading fences and includes two rollers at the rear of the trailer for assisting passage of fence sections onto the trailer. The rollers are drawn via a pulley which is movable into and out of contact with a wheel of the trailer. A sprocket is connected to the pulley and one roller and an endless chain engaged the sprocket to drive the rollers. The trailer may be tilted relative to its drawbar to assist in loading and unloading the fences.

  • Patent number: 4347023
Abstract: In a system for holding support elements on a body, which elements can be lded or swung out from the held position, such as support elements used with solar generators on space vehicles, a pin is arranged to carry the support elements and a locking bolt retains the pin in the held position. The locking bolt is biased toward a position where it releases the pin. The pin is tensioned so that it contributes to the biasing action on the locking bolt. A blocking element holds the locking element in position for securing the pin in the held position. When the blocking element is displaced, the locking bolt is released and, due to the biasing action, moves out of the position where it secures the pin in the held position. A number of pin-locking bolt-blocking element combinations can be secured in the held position by a common cable acting on the blocking elements. When the cable is cut, each of the combinations is released at the same time.

  • Patent number: 4313701
Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment, a U-shaped bracket forms pivot pins by means of the bent-out end areas of the bracket arms, which pivot pins are insertable (and held by the resilience of the bracket) in recesses of the car container sidewalls. The U-shaped bracket has its respective arms engaging in lateral slots of the container insert. The removable container insert may be lowered into engagement with the U-shaped bracket after assembly of the bracket with the car container, with the dimensioning such that the container insert prevents disengagement of the retaining pins. Outwardly inclined parts of the bracket arms may engage in close fitting elongated slots of the container insert so that the container insert pivots as a unit with the supporting bracket.

  • Patent number: 4184694
Abstract: A trailer for attachment to a towing vehicle while supporting in locked engagement elongated apparatus such as a harvesting machine elevator having flanged members extending along each side thereof. Rigid frame means are supported on a pair of wheels at one end and provided with a tongue which may be telescopingly retracted to reduce the length of the trailer for loading into and transport upon another vehicle. A pair of support members, upon which the flanged portions of the transported apparatus rest, extend laterally across the front and rear of the frame means. Two pairs of locking members are provided, one member of each pair being disposed at each end of the two support members. The locking members are rotatable to position a fixed lug above the upper surface of the associated support member thereby firmly securing the flanged member of the transported apparatus between the support member and lug.
