Between Load Bearer Units Patents (Class 410/95)
  • Patent number: 5785473
Abstract: A plurality of vertical rod assemblies restrain the movement of cargo during transport on a floor of a carrier having source of fluid which is at about atmospheric pressure while the carrier is being loaded and which is pressurized after loading, e.g., a trailer having wheels with brakes which are actuated by a pressurized air line. Each vertical rod assembly contains a rod which remains flush with the floor on which the cargo is loaded when the fluid source is not pressurized. When the fluid source is pressurized, each rod rises from openings in the floor at locations adjacent the cargo. Each rod is attached to a piston in a cylinder which moves up and down in response to the application and release of pressure.

  • Patent number: 5454673
Abstract: A horizontal connector interconnects adjacent ISO shipping containers. The connector has oppositely disposed locking arms which engage the inside surfaces of the respective container corner fittings. A push block assembly moves in a first direction to rotate the locking arm to engage the inside surface of a corner fitting, and then a reactive force from the surface engagement causes the push block to move in a second direction angularly disposed to the first direction to in turn cause push block surfaces to be frictionally engaged to lock the arm to the corner fitting. This locking action permits the containers to remain securely interconnected even when the connector and containers are subjected to excessive vibrations.

  • Patent number: 5370342
Abstract: A self-erecting guide for centering and for vertically restraining smaller than full width pallets in a transport vehicle, such as an airplane, having a floor structure and rollers connected to the floor structure and defining a roller plane for rollingly supporting pallets above the floor structure such that the pallets may roll longitudinally includes a plurality of rollers such that pallets contacting the guide contact a rotatable surface resulting in less galling and wear to guide and pallets. The guide generally includes a hinge assembly, fore and aft pivots, a frame, and erection springs. In an erect position, the hinge assembly forms a shallow inverted V in side view with hinge axis at the apex such that a moving full size pallet contacting hinge assembly top forces the hinge assembly into a retracted position below the roller plane.

  • Patent number: 5269639
Abstract: A system for shipping product on a vehicle comprising a series of rectangular containment elements surrounding a plurality of products thus together constituting a plurality of units with a T-shaped support positioned between each of the containment elements and thus stabilizing the units and preventing sidewise shifting.

  • Patent number: 5205602
Abstract: A removable motor vehicle boot insert (1) comprises two rigid insert portions (2, 3) which overlap at 10, 11 on assembly within a boot A to follow the contour of the boot A. Flexible wing portions (15, 16) of a side wall (6) of each insert portion (2, 3) urge the insert portions (2, 3) into engagement on assembly within the boot. Retainers (31) for releasably anchoring a container (30) to the insert comprises a screw (33) having an enlarged head (34) defining a cam surface and an extension defining a handle (35) for turning the screw. The cam surface of the screw head (34) engages in a groove (40) in opposed end walls of the container (30) to anchor the container in a desired position on the insert.

  • Patent number: 4344726
Abstract: Cargo loading and unloading systems, particularly for military aircraft such as helicopters, including right and lefthand restraint rail assemblies having longitudinally spaced lock mechanisms which are adapted to provide lateral and forward and aft restraint of load-supporting pallets. Operating controls for each lock to enable the locks to be closed individually, and further include control rod assemblies to permit all such lock mechanisms to be closed simultaneously or to be opened either sequentially or simultaneously. Other lock mechanisms are operable to secure non-palletized types of cargo and are closed and opened sequentially by one of the control rod assemblies. A ramp structure is also provided, including guide structure for proper guidance of the pallets as they are loaded into or unloaded from the aircraft, and pallet supporting rollers facilitating the loading and unloading of vehicles.

  • Patent number: 4294185
Abstract: A system for securing two containers in a cell in a ship's hold wherein, at the midpoint of the length of the cell and at at least one side of the cell a flanged guide device is attached to the ship's structure, which guide device cooperates with two guiding hooks which are each detachably connected to a bottom corner piece of one of the containers at the sides thereof, the guiding hooks being mounted so that the hook on one container is turned toward the hook on the other container to engage the guide device flanges. In a further embodiment wherein containers are placed in a cargo cell side-by-side, hook assemblies are detachably connected to corner pieces of adjacent sides of the containers so that they are locked to each other to prevent movement of the containers during pitch and roll of the ship.
