  • Patent number: 10932835
Abstract: A bone fixation device includes a plastically deformable bone fixation body having a screw receiving aperture extending therethrough. The shape of the aperture is defined by a side wall having a first threaded portion, a second smooth walled portion extending from the first threaded portion, and a third smooth walled portion extending from the second portion. The aperture has a step change in cross section between the second and third portions defining a lip. The second and third portions are connected by a lip face extending substantially normal to the aperture length with the edge of the lip face defining the lip. The device further includes at least one bone fixation screw having a shaft and a head. The shaft engages with the first threaded portion of the aperture and the head abuts the lip with an abutment force being directed substantially radially outwards so producing a tight fit.

  • Patent number: 10836066
Abstract: A Zero Clearance Fence that gives precision to chop saw fences. The invention consists of two flat surfaces and mounting devices. The flat surfaces are beveled at one edge of both surfaces. The beveled edge allows a tape measure to be hooked on at any desired miter angle. The invention mounts onto the original chop saw fences so that they are able to slide towards and away from the saw blade. The ability to slide allows the fences to always be right next to the saw blade at any miter angle cut for precision in the cut measurements. The mounting apertures can be located anywhere to allow the Zero Clearance Fence to fit on any chop saw.

  • Patent number: 9909608
Abstract: The objective is to prevent the loosening of a structure with which a member 80 to be fastened and a base material 90 are fastened through a male screw body 10 and a washer 50. A screw-body-side seat part 22 is formed on the male screw body 10, and a first receiving part 60 and second receiving part 70 are formed on the washer side. A member-side seat part 82 is formed on the member 80 to be fastened. The first receiving part 60 and the screw-body-side seat part 22 have sawtooth-shaped recesses and protrusions. When an attempt is made to rotate the male screw body 10 in the direction of loosening, the recesses and protrusions engage one another, thereby preventing rotation. A recessed housing part of the member-side seat part 82 and the outer wall of the second receiving part 70 of the washer 50 have an eccentric circular shape. When an attempt is made to rotate the washer 50 in the direction of loosening, the eccentric circular shapes engage one another, thereby preventing rotation.

  • Patent number: 8939693
Abstract: The present invention is configured by a wood screw main body, and a truncated cone-shaped washer that is rotatable in relation to a head of the wood screw main body such that a top surface of the head and a top surface of the truncated cone-shaped washer are substantially on the same plane, and attached so as not to detach from the head. When a retainer element is secured by the wood screw to a wood material to be supported, frictional heat can be prevented from occurring in the retainer element, and the retainer element can be secured by only the fastening force of the wood screw. The retainer element can be efficiently prevented from breaking, and attached such that the head of the wood screw and the surface of the retainer element are on the same plane.

  • Patent number: 6659702
Abstract: The present invention provides a bolting structure for a magnesium alloy member, having a non-magnesium alloy and conventional member 12 disposed on the magnesium alloy member 15, the magnesium alloy member 15 being covered with an insulator 14, and a bolt 18 initially inserted through the magnesium alloy member 15 and then into the conventional member 12, thereby permitting the conventional member 12 and the magnesium alloy member 15 to be bolted together, comprising: a washer 17 disposed between a head 18a of the bolt 18 and the magnesium alloy member 15, the washer 17 having a boss 16 disposed thereon, wherein the magnesium alloy member 15 is formed with a through-hole 13 that is greater in diameter than a bolthole 19 of the washer 17. The above boss 16 and through-hole 13 eliminate a chance that the bolt 18 contacts the through-hole 13. The insulator 14 remains intact because of non-contact of the bolt 18 with the through-hole 13 so that no stray current corrosion occurs.

  • Patent number: 6171039
Abstract: A product and method for preventing a connector from rotating when a mating connector is attached to, or detached from, the connector. When a nut on the connector is tightened, a washer is compressed in a groove in a panel to which the connector is attached. Edges on the outer perimeter of the washer press against the edges of the groove, thus preventing the washer from rotating in relation to the panel having the connector. A portion of the washer's cutout presses against flat regions on the connector and, in conjunction with the groove in the panel, prevent the connector from rotating when attaching or detaching cables.

  • Patent number: 5409337
Abstract: A seal assembly (21) is disclosed for use with a housing (H) which defines a fluid chamber (C) and a threaded opening (O). In threaded engagement with the opening is a threaded portion (13) of a device such as a sensor assembly (11 ). The housing defines a counterbore (CB) disposed axially between the threaded opening (O) and an external surface (S). The seal assembly (21) includes a metal support member (23) including a cylindrical portion (27) having inner (33) and outer (35) portions of elastomeric sealing material. The seal assembly is pressed into the counterbore and, by means of the interference fit therebetween, may be permanently retained therein. As the member is threaded into the opening, the underside (16) of the head (15) deforms a sealing lip (39) radially inward into engagement with the threaded portion (13).

  • Patent number: 5359824
Abstract: A fastening apparatus and method for securely connecting a platform structure to a support element. A non-circular aperture is formed by joining two adjacent holes in an apertured platform structure. A seat element is provided, having a flat portion surrounding an aperture, the aperture in the seat element being configured in substantially the same shape as the non-circular aperture in the platform. A flange extends substantially downward from the rim of the aperture in the seat element. The outer surface of the flange bears against an inner rim of the aperture in the platform structure to prevent relative movement between the seat element and the platform structure. A bolt and nut assembly is inserted through the aperture in the platform and the seat element, through corresponding apertures in the support element, and tightened to securely fasten the platform to the support element in a structure that prevents lateral movement of the platform relative to the support element.

  • Patent number: 4711760
Abstract: An improved nuclear reactor wherein the bolted connections between the baffle plates and baffle former and the baffle former and the core barrel are provided with a noval locking device that prevents loosening of the bolted connections. The locking device to prevent loosening of bolted connections where a threaded bolt is used to secure two components together uses a threaded lock nut over the bolt head, cooperative with a threaded wall in a recess in a component. The lock nut and wall of the recess have threads opposite the threads of the bolt. Deformable sections are formed in the base of the lock nut to engage an unsymmetrical cavity in the head of the bolt. Turning of the bolt in a direction that would tend to loosen the connection causes tightening of the lock nut. The wall of the lock nut may be threadedly engaged with the wall of the recess or the lock nut wall may have slits formed thereon which enable deformation of wall portions to engage the threaded wall of the recess.

  • Patent number: 4408927
Abstract: A resilient holding device comprising a looped helical spring or a closed loop of interconnected essentially circular disc elements confined to an annular cavity circumferentially within a threaded joint or coupling. By tightening the threaded joint or coupling such as to engage the confined spring, a latching effect is created that requires a reverse torque for disassembly that exceeds the torque required to tighten. Such a torque biased threaded coupling is particularly useful in oil field applications.
