  • Patent number: 6171039
Abstract: A product and method for preventing a connector from rotating when a mating connector is attached to, or detached from, the connector. When a nut on the connector is tightened, a washer is compressed in a groove in a panel to which the connector is attached. Edges on the outer perimeter of the washer press against the edges of the groove, thus preventing the washer from rotating in relation to the panel having the connector. A portion of the washer's cutout presses against flat regions on the connector and, in conjunction with the groove in the panel, prevent the connector from rotating when attaching or detaching cables.

  • Patent number: 6019558
Abstract: A nut and bolt securing device is disclosed to prevent loosening of the assembly due to environmental conditions. In a first version of the invention the two piece device is fitted over a nut and a portion of a bolt extending from the nut, the two sections of the device being secured together with set screws, with serrations within the device, and one or more set screws engaging the front end of the device. In a second version of the device a shelf like planar projection on the front end of the device engages a planar surface on a nut, again combining with the serrations within the device to prevent fastener loosening. The device is particularly described in use in conjunction with refrigerant system flare nuts so as to prevent loss of refrigerant at these flare nut unions.

  • Patent number: 5549612
Abstract: An osteosynthesis plate system is particularly well adapted to securely fuse adjacent cervical vertebrae. The plates are adapted for mounting upon the anterior or posterior surfaces of the vertebrae. Plates for mounting on the anterior vertebral surfaces have a concave bone contacting surface and a bone screw locking mechanism integral with each screw hole. Moreover, the bone contacting surface of the plate has a plurality of bone penetrating protrusions to more securely affix the plate to bone. Plates for mounting on the posterior vertebral surfaces also have bone penetrating protections on their bone contacting surfaces. Such plates are formed so as to have a curved bone contacting surface that is concave in the transverse axis of the plate and convex in the longitudinal axis of the plate. The screw holes of such plates are constructed so as to guide a bone screw along a desired angle to improve the anchoring of the screws in bone.

  • Patent number: 5360303
Abstract: A nut lock or locking cap secures a nut on a bolt so that the nut cannot loosen itself and so that the nut cannot fall off the bolt. For this purpose the nut lock has a first ring section that at least partially surrounds the bolt and a second ring section that at least partially surrounds the nut. The two ring sections are interconnected by a radially extending flange, whereby the first ring section has a smaller diameter than the diameter of the second ring section. The first ring section has at least one through-hole that can be aligned with a cross-bore in the bolt for the insertion of a locking pin. The second ring section has radially inwardly facing profiled surfaces that enter into a form-locking, force-transmitting connection with the outer profile of the nut.

  • Patent number: 4484849
Abstract: A bolt is fabricated from an elongated threaded rod by severing the rod along a planar surface angularly oriented with respect to a longitudinal axial plane through the rod. A cup-shaped nut has three equicircumferentially spaced lateral locking openings in the side walls adjacent the outer base wall thereof. The cup-shaped nut has an axial length greater than twice the diameter of the opening, with the opening in the half of the nut including the base wall. The nut is threaded onto the severed end of the rod with the base wall abutting the end of the rod. At least one locking opening is exposed to the inclined planar surface, and a pin is forced into the exposed opening with the inner end of the pin terminating within the nut and located immediately adjacent to the inclined surface thereby affecting a positive interconnection of the nut to the rod.
