Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for fastening a second object to a first object that resists unfastening, for example due to vibration or disturbance, until unlocked.
Abstract: An apparatus comprises a fastening member, a complimentary fastening member, and a retainer member. The fastening member has a first end, a second end, a channel located at the first end, outer threads located on an outer surface of the fastening member, and inner threads located on an inner surface of the channel. The outer threads of the fastening member are closer to the first end than the second end. The complimentary fastening member has a channel and inner threads located within the channel. The inner threads of the complimentary fastening member are capable of engaging the outer threads of the fastening member. The retainer member has a threaded end. The retainer member is capable of entering the channel of the complimentary fastening member and the threaded end of the retainer member is capable of engaging the inner threads of the fastening member.

Abstract: An axle spindle nut assembly secures a wheel end assembly on an axle spindle. The wheel end assembly includes outboard and inboard outboard bearings that are immovably mounted on the axle spindle, and a wheel hub which is rotatably mounting on the bearings. The spindle nut assembly includes a nut that threads onto an outboard end of the axle spindle, and is tightened against the outboard bearing to a selected torque level. The nut includes an outboard surface that is formed with a plurality of features. A washer is formed with a tab that engages a keyway of the axle spindle outboardly of the nut, and with a plurality of mating features that mechanically engage the features formed in the outboard surface of the nut to prevent substantial rotation of the nut after the nut has been tightened to the selected torque level.

Abstract: A wheel nut assembly for fixing a wheel to a vehicle hub. The wheel nut assembly has a wheel nut. The wheel nut has an internal thread. The wheel nut assembly further includes a wheel stud having an external thread adapted to co-operate with the internal thread of the wheel nut. The wheel stud further has an internal thread. A retaining member has an external thread of an opposite hand with respect to the internal thread of the wheel stud for cooperating with the internal thread of the wheel stud. A locking member is adapted to engage both the retaining member and the wheel nut to prevent relative movement there between and is further adapted to permit a location of the retaining member to be visually identified when the locking member is engaged to both the retaining member and the wheel nut.
