Segmented Internally Threaded Element Patents (Class 411/266)
  • Patent number: 11649846
Abstract: A segmented nut has inner segments and an outer sleeve. Part of the sleeve interface portion and part of the segment interface portion engage when the sleeve rotates relative to the inner nut during release of the segmented nut with part of the segment interface portion at a greater distance from a central axis of the segmented nut than a minimum distance of the at least part of the sleeve interface portion from the central axis. One or more of the segments can include a retainer preventing the sleeve moving toward a free face of the segment(s). One or more of the segments can have a flange portion providing an increased working (compression) face relative to a plain segmented nut. An assembled segmented nut can include some radial freeplay for the segments to move radially whilst being retained within the sleeve prior to application of the segmented nut to a threaded bolt, stud or rod such that threading of the segmented nut onto the thread of the bolt, stud or rod removes the freeplay.

  • Patent number: 11499584
Abstract: A joint device for screw and nut includes a first body and a second body. The first body is provided with a plurality of first internal threads, of first external threads, and a first protrusion. The first protrusion is extended with a first engaging portion. The second body is provided with a plurality of second internal threads, of second external threads, and a second protrusion. The second protrusion is extended with a second engaging portion, such that the first protrusion and the second protrusion can be engaged with each other. When in a joining status, the first engaging portion and the second engaging portion are engaged with each other, such that the first body and the second body are folded up and around the screw. The nut can therefore screw up the first body and the second body correspondingly.

  • Patent number: 8328482
Abstract: A tensioner for tensioning foundation bolts generally used in securing large utility towers is provided. The tensioner generally comprises a hollow outer body through which the foundation bolt can extend. The lower end of the body, which is adapted to abut onto the foundation surface from which the bolt extends, is provided with an opening allowing access to a foundation nut threaded onto the foundation bolt. The upper end of the outer body slidingly receives therein an inner body with which it defines an annular hydraulic piston, the inner body being configured with a seat portion for receiving and engaging a split nut mounted to the foundation bolt. Upon providing hydraulic fluid to the tensioner, the hydraulic piston urges the split nut, engaged to the foundation bolt, upwardly, thereby tensioning the foundation bolt. The load in the bolt is then maintained by threading down the foundation nut until it abuts onto the foundation surface.

  • Patent number: 7338242
Abstract: A fastener assembly includes a washer element and a nut element. The nut element is split and includes a screw thread that threadably engages the thread of a bolt or other such fastener element to lock the nut to the bolt. The nut element is adapted by the split to assume an open configuration which permits the nut to move freely along the bolt without being threadably engaged with the bolt and a closed configuration which threadably engages the screw thread of the nut with the screw thread of the bolt. The washer is sized to move freely over the screw thread of the bolt, but to force the nut into the closed configuration when the washer and the nut are cooperatively engaged. The washer maintains the nut in threaded engagement with the bolt when the washer and the nut are cooperatively engaged on the bolt.

  • Patent number: 7179038
Abstract: A fastener includes a sleeve-like clamping element having a cavity extending in the direction of its longitudinal axis which accommodates a threaded stud. At least one clamping region is deformable into the cavity forming at least one clamping ramp inclined toward the longitudinal axis on an outside of the clamping element. A clamping sleeve pushed onto the clamping element in an installed state grips around the clamping element. A clamping sleeve inner surface cooperates with the clamping ramp so the clamping region reaches a clamping position deformed into the cavity to hold the threaded stud. The clamping element has a forward end flange in an installation direction. Coupling elements and mating coupling elements arranged on the flange and a clamping sleeve end facing the flange interlock in the installed state, preventing rotation between the clamping sleeve and clamping element.

  • Patent number: 5320466
Abstract: The invention is intended to provide a fastening structure made up of a nut and a to-be-tightened member which does not get loose even when used in places where it is subject to large vibrations. The nut has a cylindrical female screw extension portion which projects from the seat of the nut and which has a female screw formed in the inner circumferential surface thereof. The to-be-tightened member which is on the male screw side is formed with a fastening hole into which the female screw extension portion is to be fitted. The inner surface of the fastening hole and the outer surface of the female screw extension portion are tapered so that there is a taper angle difference. As the nut is fastened onto the male screw, the female screw extension portion is pushed inwardly and deformed due to the taper angle difference so that the female screw formed on the female screw extension portion is pressed against the male screw.

  • Patent number: 5127782
Abstract: A castellated locknut having an annular ring and a set of castellations, wherein the castellations are tapered to provide a locking mechanism. The locknut is provided with a circumferential groove formed between the castellations and the annular body which ensures that the castellations have equal base cross-sectional areas, such that the castellations deflect uniformly upon mounting to a shaft. Further, the provision of the circumferential groove renders the annular ring torsionally flexible as compared to the flexural stiffness of the castellations. Upon mounting to a shaft, the annular ring of the locknut elastically and torsionally deflects, thus allowing the castellations to pivot clear of the shaft without undesirable inelastic deformation. Accordingly, a precise and uniform locknut having an effective locking mechanism is achieved.

  • Patent number: 5022791
Abstract: A nut 15 for clamping a tie rod securing a rock has a tubular nut body 25 with a buttress thread 28. The nut body is subdivided into segments 31 by several elongated slots 30. The segments are connected by elastic ribs 26 whose cross-section is U shaped. On one end of the face the nut has a convex spherical end flange 17 which rests against an anchor plate 19. The slots extend through the flange as far as the inner wall of the ribs. Between the ribs the flange has radial notches 37, which extend as far as the nut body. In this manner the segments 31 are tangentially flexible. To clamp the tie rod, the nut is slid axially on the buttress thread of the rod. A clamping device with jaws reaches into the thread of the rod at its free end, and rests against the nut 15. When the tie rod is pulled with the jaws, the nut 15 is simultaneously forced against the anchor plate. Thus, a fast and accurate preliminary clamping of the tie rod is achieved.
