    Abstract: A thread locking fastener assembly comprising a nut anchor defining an internal thread having a longitudinal axis, a leading face and a trailing face, the internal thread, in axial section, having a profile which is symmetric about a first imaginary line extending radially out from the axis, and a fastener shank having an external thread with a longitudinal axis, a leading face and trailing face, the external thread being received in said internal thread so that said axes are substantially coincident. The external thread, in axial section, has a profile with a radially inner base zone which is symmetric about a second imaginary line extending radially from the shank axis and a radially outer deflectable addendum which is not symmetric about that line so that the addendum prevents axial centralization of the external thread profile in the internal thread profile unless a sufficient axial force is applied to the shank to deflect the addendum.

    Abstract: Locking the headset of a steering post of a bicycle is accomplished by this invention where the steering post or threaded body projects coaxially through a cylindrical journal mounted at the front end of the bicycle frame. Bearing cups are secured in each end of the journal to accommodate thrust bearings. Each thrust bearing in turn is engaged by a cone. The lower cone is mounted stationary on the fork-steering post of the bicycle while the upper cone is threaded engaged to the mounting post body and is drawn hand tight against the upper thrust bearing. The upper cone is locked against rotational movement by a lock nut threaded on the post body above the upper cone and spaced from the upper cone. The locking configuration is achieved by one or more screws extending through an opening in the lock nut and engaging the upper cone to jam the threaded connections between the lock nut, upper cone and steering post body.

    Abstract: The threaded connection is formed between a tapped component and an externally threaded two part bolt. The two bolt parts are each provided with an external thread of the same pitch and hand in order to be threaded simultaneously into the tapped component. One bolt part is also provided with an extension which is threaded into the other bolt part via a screw thread which has an opposite hand or pitch to the external screw threads. When the two bolt part are threaded into the tapped component, the screw threaded extension prevents unthreading of one bolt part relative to the other.

    Abstract: A wheel hub for a two-wheeled vehicle, such as a bicycle, includes a quick clamping device for securing the hub axle in the fork of a bicycle frame. The device includes a clamping unit at each end of the hub axle. Each clamping unit contains an adjusting nut screwed onto one end of the axle, a thrust ring inboard of the nut, and a pivotally movable clamping member with eccentric cams positioned between facing surfaces on the nut and thrust ring. By pivoting the clamping member the position of the cams is changed for displacing the clamping device from the release position to the locking position where the hub axle can be tightly clamped in the fork without any special shaping of the axle.

The slots define three resilient springy webs each extending 120.degree. circumferentially of the screw body. Corners of each web are disposed in registration with the other two webs axially of the screw body. The intermediate portion is deformed slightly to misalign the two threaded portions of the screw body.
