  • Patent number: 10364556
Abstract: A mechanical-coupling device is described. The mechanical-coupling device includes a toggle bolt with a fixture in a bolt head that remateably mechanically couples to an attachment tool. The device may further include an anchor nut having an anchor wing or tab. During mechanical coupling of the anchor nut to the bolt with a mounting material, such as a wall, countertop or sink, between the bolt head and the anchor nut, the fixture may convey a pulling force, from the attachment tool, that results in fixing a position of the anchor nut with the anchor wing or tab in a deployed position. Moreover, the fixture may convey a rotational torque, from the attachment tool, about a symmetry axis of the bolt that rotates the bolt relative to the fixed position of the anchor nut so that a distance between the bolt head and the anchor nut decreases.

In most embodiments a generally U-shaped mounting strap of the assembly has a central bight and parallel first and second legs extending longitudinally from the bight through a first mounting hole in the wall. A strap foot portion or separate mounting flange extends perpendicularly to the legs for engaging the wall exterior side surface. One or two anchoring blades are operably pivotally coupled to the strap for swinging motion in a single plane defined by the longitudinal axes of the blades and strap and between a collapsed position nested adjacent the strap and a swung-out expanded position wherein the blade(s) clamp-engage the wall interior surface while the leg feet or flange clamp-engages the wall exterior surface. The position and orientation of the now wall-hidden blade remains visibly indicated to the installer by the orientation of the strap exposed to view of the installer.

  • Patent number: 6314703
Abstract: A fastener can be inserted into a narrow space behind a wall, and can be brought into contact with the back of the wall over a wide area to sufficiently reinforce the wall even when a bolt is tightened to securely fasten an object to the wall. The fastener has a block assembly including a plurality of blocks having two longitudinal ends and coupled together at the longitudinal ends in a single line. One of the blocks is formed with a threaded hole into which a bolt is adapted to be threaded and string holes. At least one string member is passed through the string holes. The block assembly has an arrangement for preventing each block from pivoting in a first direction from a straight position, in which the block assembly is arranged in a straight line, and allowing each block to pivot in a second direction opposite to the first direction from the straight position.

Abstract: A fastener for multiple layers having alignable apertures therethrough. The fastener includes a first head, a second head, and a connector. The first head passes through the alignable apertures in the multiple layers and snugs against a first extreme outermost layer of the multiple layers. The second head opposes the first head and snugs against the other extreme outermost layer of the multiple layers. The connector connects the first head to the second head and is disposed in the alignable apertures in the multiple layers and maintains the first head snugly against the first extreme outermost layer of the multiple layers and the second head snugly against the second extreme outermost layer of the multiple layers and thereby retains the multiple layers between the first head and the second head.

Abstract: A repair device which is used to restore planarity to concave damage in a drywall board, which is quickly installed by chucking to a reversible power driver in the manner of a drill bit, thus creating its own hole. The device is inserted into the wall cavity, then powered in the reverse direction to actuate in the manner of a jack to push out a damaged drywall piece, which is still hingedly attached by the cardboard facing. Thus united, the cracks are bonded with cement, while the inexpensive device remains inside the wall, acting as a permanent prop.

  • Patent number: 6004088
Abstract: This invention is a wall fastener to join abutting surfaces such as affixing a bracket to a wall. The L-shape arms of the fastener are attached with hinges to a shell or to a slidable nut enclosed in a shell which is inserted in a preformed hole or aperture in the wall. The fastener with arms attached to the slidable nut is adjustable for use with walls of varying widths. A screw holding the object to be attached is inserted in the shell and threaded through the nut (FIG. 4). The screw then engages the arms of the fastener and forces them to pivot into a clamping position (FIG. 5). The screw is turned until the arms are clamped against the wall (FIG. 6). The fastener with the arms attached to the shell is similar in operation to the adjustable fastener except its use is for walls or surfaces of the same width as the device.

  • Patent number: 5904462
Abstract: A locking bolt for helping make connections between beams and columns of a building under construction includes an elongated body having a rear threaded section. This threaded section connects with a smooth toggle section having a rounded front end. An inverted L-shaped slot in the toggle section includes a deep front recess that connects with a shallow rear recess. A toggle bar is carried in the slot by a pivot pin that extends loosely through an opening in a base of the toggle bar. Connecting with the toggle base is a rearward extending locking arm. When the toggle bar locking arm seats in the slot, the front end of locking bolt may readily pass through bolt holes in a beam and a web of an adjoining column. Once the toggle bar is clear of the column web, the toggle bar locking arm is free swing from the slot and into a locking mode where held by interference fits between edge segments of the toggle bar base and walls of the slot deep recess.

Abstract: A toggle member comprising an elongated cylindrical tube having a slot from one end to approximately the center of the tube, defining an opening and channel to receive a fastening bolt; a pivoting threaded bolt engaging with a round ball, the ball threaded to engage the bolt, the ball acting as a pivotally mounted system to allow the bolt to pivot in a manner relocating itself inside and parallel with the tube, said ball being attached to an elastomeric spring bias material tongue fixably seated within the tube so as to exert a spring bias in a direction to force the bolt perpendicular to the tube. The toggle member is meant to be used with a threaded bolt or screw. The elastomeric spring being thinner in the direction facing the bolt entrance allows the bolt to swivel or pivot parallel and into the tube.

Abstract: This invention most generally relates to a clip mechanism assembleable to the back-side of an ornament member, most preferably jewelry objects or fanciful buttons and the like, to be displayed by removable attachment to clothing mainly through "button-holes" and used, for example, as tuxedo-studs, cuff-links, lapel-pins, etc. The clip mechanism may also be used with hooks or posts upon which may be placed, or hung, tools, pictures, or articles for display. The clip mechanism is removably insertable into a mounting hole or peg-board hole and because of the particular design of the clip mechanism will support the article hung on the hook or post. Abstract: A fastener is provided which is particularly suited for joining two or more panel members together, such as a circuit board with the internal support chassis of an electrical enclosure or casing. The fastener is configured with a compliant lower portion, such that the fastener can be installed and secured with a simple push-through action which requires only a moderate force. Because assembly of the fastener does not require a rotational motion, assembly costs for automated assembly operations are reduced, while physical demands on an assembler are significantly reduced for manual assembly operations. The fastener is reusable, in that the fastener can be readily removed without being plastically deformed.
