Abstract: A cable anchorage system for anchoring a cable to a support structure in a civil engineering construction comprises an anchorage socket attached to the cable, a support socket attached to the support structure and a longitudinal coupling rod, which couples the anchorage socket to the support socket. The coupling rod comprises a threaded end, which interacts with a counter thread on one of the two parts which are the anchorage socket and the support socket, and a mounting end with a radially extending rod shoulder. The other one of the two parts which are the anchorage socket and the support socket comprises a longitudinal opening for receiving the mounting end of the coupling rod, which opening comprises an inwardly extending abutment shoulder.
Abstract: A ratcheting fastener assembly is operable to be secured to an object and includes a rotatable threaded fastener and a ratchet element. The rotatable threaded fastener includes a serrated ratchet head and a threaded fastener body extending axially from the ratchet head. The ratchet element is in ratcheting engagement with the head and includes an annular element frame and at least one tooth operable to engage the object to restrict element rotation. The ratchet element also includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced pawls. The pawls and corresponding serrations rotatably ratchet relative to each other when the fastener is rotated in a tightening direction and engage each other when the head is rotated in a loosening direction.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for reducing corrosion in post-tension construction is described. An anchor base having an aperture with at two continuously opening surfaces is used with a post-tension tendon. A sheath surrounds the anchor and includes a cylindrical extension having a contact end distal from the anchor base for contacting the tendon as the tendon is inserted through the cylindrical extension and the anchor base aperture. The method positions an anchor base in a selected location so that a tendon end can be inserted into the anchor base to engaged the contact end distal from the anchor base. The tendon is threaded through the anchor base until a selected length extends through the base. The tendon is tensioned, a segment of the tendon sleeve is removed proximate to the anchor base, and a wedge is anchored between the tendon and the anchor base.
Abstract: A compressor housing is sealed around the bolt head without the use of an intervening sealing washer. Instead, the bolt hole is machined through the compressor housing in such a way as to assure that the sharp circular edge of the bolt hole always has a degree of radial overlap with the rounded corner that makes the transition from the body of the bolt to the flat undersurface of the bolt. Then, when the bolt is tightened, it is assured that the sharp corner of the bolt hole will be hit and be rounded over by the rounded corner of the bolt head into a closely matching configuration. This assures good, close contact and a tight gas seal. It also allows for over tightening the bolt head, because the ideal sealing pressure will still be attained at some point moving radially inwardly along the interface between bolt head round corner and the deformed bolt hole edge.
