Drill-tip-type End Patents (Class 411/387.1)
  • Patent number: 8266779
Abstract: A unique self-drilling anchor screw is configured so that it can be set and used to secure a first object to a second object using only one tool to save time and effort. A nut of the screw engages a nut stop when turning in reverse, thereby driving rotation of the screw in reverse. The screw has a drill bit tip adapted for drilling a hole while turning in reverse. A hole is drilled using the drill bit tip while turning the nut in reverse with a socket wrench of the one tool. After drilling the hole, the nut is turned in the forward direction with the socket wrench to engage a sleeve member of the screw, which sets the screw in the second object. Then, the nut is further turned forward using the socket wrench to tighten the nut against the first object located between the nut and the second object.

Abstract: A drilling fastener utilizes at least two sides jointed to form a shank. A corner point is formed between any two sides for outwardly extending a rib therefrom. The rib includes a cutting section extended outwardly from the corner point about an arc contour, and a arc section whose two sides respectively connect to the cutting section and the side. A cutting tip is formed at a convergence of the cutting section and the arc section and located at which the largest outer diameter of the shank is defined. An accommodating room is defined between each arc section and the side. Thereby, the auxiliary cutting provided by the cutting tip allows the debris to be swiftly extruded via the accommodating room, thence preferably decreasing the driving torque and preventing the workpiece from being damaged. The fixing efficiency after screwing is further promoted.

Wherein, a raw section on the shank portion is provided with a cambered surface formed integral with the shank portion in cross-section, and a notched section relative to the raw section has two cutting notches separately depressed into the shank portion and disposed near an end of the shank portion, thereby forming a protrudent part between the two cutting notches. By means of the cooperation of the cutting notches and the raw section, the cutting capability and the removal of debris are increased so that a fastened object is prevented from split. A nut has nut threads adapted to thread onto the threaded shaft portion of the shaft member. The nut is located on the threaded shaft portion. A sleeve is located about the shaft member. At least part of the sleeve is located adjacent to the transition portion, and is capable of sliding along the shaft member for engaging the transition portion. A nut stop portion is located at a second end of the shaft member. The nut stop portion is adapted to prevent the nut from being unscrewed from the threaded shaft portion at the second end of the shaft member.

Abstract: A power tap structure comprises a screw head, a bolt being a rod body extended underneath the screw head, and at least two screw thread units having different cutting surfaces respectively called a cutting thread and a retaining thread. Each of the crew thread units further includes a plurality of thread sections connected by a transition screw thread. The cutting thread has a plurality of indentations distributed along a cutting thread surface thereon, whereby the indentations on the cutting thread will effectively cut fibers of a material the bolt is being inserted. Therefore, the screw will penetrate the material quickly and easily. Further, an additional thread unit with narrower pitch can be formed right below the screw head for enhancing the locking effect of the screw when it is embedded into the material.

Abstract: A self-tapping screw having a boring part and a threaded shaft for fixing a panel-type object to a preferably metallic substructure is provided. The screw is configured in such a way that it produces a through hole in the panel type object, said hole accommodating the shaft with a degree of play and so that it produces a bore in the substructure into which the thread on the shaft cuts a counter-thread. The boring part includes a boring tip that is located eccentrically in relation to the longitudinal axis of the screw. The tip centers the screw during the positioning operation in such a way that the boring part executes a circular displacement about the boring tip, which expands the through hole to the desired size, whereas the bore in the substructure is produced with the diameter of the boring part.

Abstract: A screw which can be more quickly screwed into a work piece and has better chip-exhausting effect. The screw has a rod body and higher thread and lower thread formed on the rod body. On a conic section of the screw, a cutting thread with another guide angle larger than the guide angle of the lower thread directly extends from the lower thread. Accordingly, the lower thread of the screw has better cuffing, drilling and chip-exhausting function. Alternatively, the screw can have single thread or double threads with equal height. On a predetermined section of the rod body of the screw, a cutting thread with changed guide angle is directly formed as a part of the thread to achieve better cutting, drilling and chip-exhausting function.

A screw with barbed threads has several barbed thread sections. Each barbed thread section is a section of thread having a leading edge and a trailing edge, the trailing edge defining a barb to increase the screw's resistance to backing out once driven into place. A nail with a barbed point is a nail having one or more barbs formed in the nail's point. Each barb is defined by a leading edge and a trailing edge. The barb's trailing edge forms an acute angle with the longitudinal axis of the nail. The barbs extend from the nail shank to prevent the nail from backing out.
