  • Patent number: 4682925
Abstract: A tack strip for securing upholstery fabric to a frame structure comprising a strip of flexible metal having a longitudinally extending fold line forming upper and lower angularly disposed flanges. The lower flange has a continuous edge and a plurality of equally spaced openings separated by a solid flange portion. The openings are spaced to receive a staple that is adapted to secure the solid portion and thus the lower flange to the frame structure. The upper flange has a plurality of equally spaced slots extending to the fold line in the area of the lower flange openings. The slots form a plurality of spaced tabs in the upper flange, each tab having outwardly and downwardly extending prongs facing the lower flange. The fabric is adapted to be placed over the tabs and pressed onto the prongs. The tabs are then bent over to sandwich the fabric between the flanges, with the prongs being bent back toward the tabs and coacting with the staple to securely retain the fabric to the frame structure.

  • Patent number: 4669235
Abstract: A spacing and support construction member for wood frame construction which provides precise positioning and support for cross-members, such as joists and rafters, on their supporting members, and, in addition, provides for pre-nailing positioning of blocking pieces between cross-members, and furnishes supplementary vertical connection and support, the latter having special use in the attachment of rafters. The construction member comprises a center strip, laid longitudinally along support members, from which transversely-oriented perpendicular projections extend to position the cross-members for attachment. Additional projections provide supplementary horizontal, or, when bent about the edge of the supporting member, vertical attachment means for the construction member, permitting direct vertical connection between the cross-member and its supporting member. The projections from the center strip additionally provide edges for the positioning of blocking pieces between the cross-members for attachment.

  • Patent number: 4644721
Abstract: The present invention is a fastener system and method of using a fastener for removably securing bar grilles in window and door frames. A fastener having a tip or point at one end is inserted between a glass and a frame. The fastener has a pair of fins extending substantially perpendicularly from one surface and away from the glass. When appropriate mechanical forces are applied, the fins are bendable toward each other and have a tendency to return to their approximate original position after the forces are released. A slot is provided in the surface of a bar grille which comes into contact with the glass. The bar grille is snapped on the fastener so that the fins are forced toward each other as they enter the slot and are hooked into position as the fins return to their approximate original position. The bar grille may be removed by pulling on the grille so that fins disengage from the slot.

  • Patent number: 4627777
Abstract: An attachment means for mounting decorative borders consisting of at least two identical nail-like parts, each part having an elongated section, one end of which gradually narrows and the other end of which forms a member having two trapezoidal-shaped heads. The trapezoidal head parts are separated by a V-shaped notch and are bent at an approximate right angle relative to the elongated section of the part so that the head forms two protruding teeth. The elongated section has a longitudinal bend and a slot which coincides with the bend. The bend, the width of the elongated section, and the width of the slot are mutually matched so that the elongated section of one part can be inserted with a friction fit into the slot of an identical other part. When using the attachment means the elongated section of one part is inserted with friction fit into a pre-bored hole and the teeth are pushed into a border which is then affixed.
