Bridge-type Retainer Patents (Class 411/47)
  • Patent number: 10612578
Abstract: Fasteners and related systems according to the invention include a collet body having a first part of a two part anti-rotation arrangement and a cylinder body having a second part of the two part anti-rotation arrangement wherein the collet body and the cylinder body are mateably axially translatable with respect to each other, and have the same or similar outer diameter in some embodiments or not in others. A threaded member rotationally engages the collet body and compressively contacts the cylinder body during operation of the fastener to creating a clamping effect. Rotational interference between the first and second parts of the anti-rotation arrangement preferably occurs at sectional face portions of at least the collet body. Resistance to induced rotation of the cylinder body relative to a work piece rotation of the threaded member is preferably provided by a tool engaging a tool interface present on the cylinder body.

  • Patent number: 7207759
Abstract: A fastener comprises a pin and a bushing having a hollow shank that is inserted into holes in a plurality of members being attached. A pin shank is inserted into the bushing shank to effect a widened-diameter coupling condition in which the diameter of the bushing shank is widened, and the members being attached are coupled between the diameter-widened bushing shank and a bushing flange. On the bushing shank are pawls for maintaining a non-widened-diameter coupling condition in which the pin and the bushing are coupled with the pin shank partially inserted into the bushing shank, and the diameter of the bushing shank is not widened. On the pin shank there is a groove for engaging the pawls, which normally extend out beyond the diameter of the attachment holes, but can bend inward. The groove has a depth that will accept the pawls when they are bent inward.

  • Patent number: 4626139
Abstract: A mine roof bolt expansion anchor utilizes a plurality of transversely bent elongated leaves which are compressed within a bail by the rotation of the roof bolt. The compression results in movement of the leaves toward a flattened position whereby the outer edges of the leaves engage the bore hole walls to anchor the bolt. Downwardly extending flanges on each end of the leaves increase the bearing surface which engages the bore hole wall, while spacers near the center of the leaves act as a spine to evenly distribute the compression to all the leaves so that they all engage the bore hole wall simultaneously and with the same pressure.

  • Patent number: 4556344
Abstract: A combination expansion shell and resin secured mine roof anchor assembly comprising an elongated bolt which carries rebar and an expansion shell. The assembly is inserted into a mine roof opening, in the back end of which is positioned a resin and catalyst cartridge. The cartridge is ruptured by the assembly allowing the resin and catalyst to gravitate downwardly, where they are mixed together by the rebar upon rotation of the bolt. The bolt is rotated a predetermined number of revolutions to obtain proper mixing of the resin and catalyst preparatory to setting, after which the continued rotation of the bolt in the same direction effects movement of the expansion shell into gripping engagement with the mine roof.

The bolt is rotated a predetermined number of revolutions to obtain optimum mixing of the resin and catalyst, after which continued rotation of the bolt in the same direction causes outward movement of the expansion shell into gripping engagement with the mine roof.

  • Patent number: 4516886
Abstract: A mine roof mechanical anchor having the usual expansion shell and tapered nut is fitted with a bail having legs secured to the shell and a medial portion extending over and contacting the nut, maintaining the latter in assembled relation with the shell, and having an opening aligned with and slightly smaller than the threaded opening in the nut. Bail extension structure, having a pair of legs attached to the legs of the first bail and a medial portion aligned with and spaced from that of the first bail, provides a means of breaking the casing and mixing the contents of a standard resin cartridge inserted in a bore hole in a mine roof ahead of the anchor and threaded bolt or rebar on which it is supported. The anchor and associated structure are rotated together with the roof bolt or rebar due to interference thereof with the smaller opening in the medial portion of the bail.

  • Patent number: 4475856
Abstract: An expansion screw for being secured in a cavity is threaded at the outer end of its screw portion for co-action with a nut (2) and is provided with an expandable sleeve (10) about its opposite end. The sleeve has an inner profile coacting with an outer profile of the expansion screw for expanding the sleeve when the screw (1) is withdrawn from the sleeve. The outer profile of the screw portion (1) is formed by a plurality of coaxial cones (3-6) with intermediate cylindrical junction portions (7-10), all cones and junction portions being integral with the rest of the screw portion. The inner profile of the sleeve (10) is formed by thickened regions (12), projecting inwards from the inner surface of the sleeve and corresponding to the cylindrical junction portions, and by thinner regions (13) of the sleeve corresponding to the coaxial cones.

  • Patent number: 4437795
Abstract: A mine roof anchor assembly comprising an elongated bolt, one end of which is threadedly engaged with an expansion anchor. The expansion anchor includes a cone nut threaded on the bolt which moves axially through a shell for expanding the latter into gripping engagement with the mine roof. A bail member of inverted L-shape is connected to, and extends upwardly from, the expansion shell, a portion of the bail member overlying the cone nut to limit the relative longitudinal movement of the bolt when it is rotated in the cone nut. That portion of the bail member overlying the bolt is deflected by the latter to urge teeth mounted on the bail member portion into impinging engagement with the mine roof.
