  • Patent number: 10024352
Abstract: A fastener is disclosed. The fastener can be used to couple together two or more parts in an electronic device. The fastener may include a head coupled with a platform having a shaft extending from the platform. The head is coupled with the platform in a manner that allows the head to decouple from the platform. For example, the head is secured with the platform by an adhesive that provides an adhesive bonding force. In this regard, a rotational force applied to the head that is greater than the adhesive bonding force causes the head to decouple from the platform. The shaft may include several blades and several protrusions. The blades may be used to engage one of the parts. The protrusions may also engage the same part as the blades, and interlock with the part to provide a retaining force that prevents the fastener from decoupling from the parts.

Abstract: A shear coupling assembly utilizes a second coupling member, a first coupling member and a locking member which is inserted into a bore in the first coupling member to connect between the second coupling member and the first coupling member. In embodiments where a pretension is applied to the shear neck, the locking member maintains the pretension in the shear neck. The bore of the first coupling member has a profiled section which corresponds to a profiled section on the second coupling member which when mated together permit torque to be transferred for co-rotating the second coupling member with the first coupling member for use in rotary pump operations. Advantageously, the profiled portions and the shear neck are encased in the bore of the shear coupling assembly and are protected from corrosive wellbore fluids.

Abstract: The invention relates to a sliding anchor bolt (10) for introduction into a bore. The sliding anchor bolt (10) has a anchor bolt rod (12), disposed on which is a sliding control element (14) having a through-opening (18), through which the anchor bolt rod (12) extends. The sliding control element (14) comprises a sliding body cage (16) having at least one recess (20) for receiving a sliding body (22) that is in contact with the lateral surface of the anchor bolt rod (12). For precise and repeatable setting of a predefined breakaway force, each recess (22) for receiving a sliding body (22) is disposed in the sliding body cage (22) tangentially relative to the lateral surface of the anchor bolt rod (12). Furthermore, the lateral enveloping surface of each recess (20) projects by a predefined dimension into the free cross section of the through-opening (18), and each sliding body (22) fills the cross section of the recess (20) associated with it.

A capsule containing a resin component and a catalyst component and the other end of the anchor are positioned in a bore hole in a mine roof, mine wall, side of a hill, concrete wall, or concrete floor. The threaded end of the nut contacts the insert and rotation of the nut rotates the anchor, breaking the capsule and mixing the components. After the components set, increased torque is applied to fracture the insert and move the nut up the threaded end of the shaft against roof stabilizing components on the shaft.

A frangible member couples the two bodies together in an initial configuration. The two bodies are threaded onto the shaft in their initial configuration and, after one of the bodies has reached its final position on the shaft, the other body can be rotated relative to the one body and the threaded shaft thereby severing the frangible member and bringing engagement surfaces on the two bodies into bearing contact to inhibit loosening. The two bodies include recesses in their respective engagement surfaces. At least one of these recesses provides a space in which a stub of the frangible member is received when the two bodies are engaged together. The fastener system can be employed with the locking mechanism of an adjustable steering column assembly.
