In one embodiment, the base additionally includes a single-threaded, helical edge which is shaped to define an opening. In another embodiment, the base additionally includes an internally threaded drawn barrel which is shaped to define an opening. The insert fastener also includes a pair of resilient, spaced apart legs which are formed on and protrude out from the base. Each of the pair of legs includes an outwardly angled upper section, an inwardly angled middle section and a lower section. In use, the insert fastener is disposed into the aperture in the panel until the pair of wings abuts against the outer surface of the panel. The threaded member is rotatably driven into the opening in the base, the threaded member engaging the base upon rotation.

  • Patent number: 6280129
Abstract: This invention relates to a fastener, which expands by the insertion of an expanding member, preferably a screw. The fastener comprises a substantially flat head and two expandable legs. The head has an upper side and a lower side, preferably separated by a gap. The head also has an oblong hole in which the expanding body engages for securing one object to another object. The oblong hole represents a plurality of regular generally round holes, so that it becomes easy for the fastener to be located in difficult positions of the objects to be connected. The oblong hole has sides on different planes, and each side has an edge. Preferably, at least one of the two edges contains arcs for better guidance of the expanding member. Additional engagement may be provided at lower portions of the fastener for improving pulling force and/or prevailing torque. Further, an elastic body may be integrally molded at least at the lower side of the head of the fastener, and preferably throughout the head of the fastener.

Abstract: The fastener includes a stud with a post element, a cylindrical inner sleeve with inwardly extending half-hemispherical bosses immediately adjacent to outwardly extending half-hemispherical bosses, and a base element with a blind aperture. The inner sleeve is received within the blind aperture and the post element is received within the inner sleeve. The pressure exerted upon the insertion of the post element of the stud and the structure of the bosses cause the inner sleeve to cock into a locked position. The exposed edges of the inwardly extending half-hemispherical bosses of the inner sleeve engage the post element while the exposed edges of the outwardly extending half-hemispherical bosses of the inner sleeve engage the walls of the blind aperture in order to resist the subsequent withdrawal of the post element from the blind aperture.

  • Patent number: 6079922
Abstract: An insert for plastic sections is manufactured from a flat strip of metal by high-speed progressive die-stamping, which forms the strip into a threaded female insert. The metal strip is first cut into a flat blank and then thread regions are impressed on the face of the strip, providing a thread pitch profile. During the stamping operation, the strip is folded to form a triangular hollow tube with sharp-edged protrusions extending radially outward from each corner of the triangle. An interlocking side tab and interlocking cutout secure the abutting longitudinal side edges of the strip and ensures axial alignment of the thread regions. As a result of the folding and stamping process, the thread regions lie along the interior wall of the tubular construction and define a thread pitch diameter, which will accept the screw threaded into the center of the insert.

  • Patent number: 5791845
Abstract: A device for anchoring a threaded fastener in a drywall or blind hole is molded in one flat piece having two half cylinders joined by a thin frangible hinge. Each half-cylinder carries half of a threaded bore divided axially. When folded together the two half-cylinders form a cylindrical headed anchor with a continuously threaded passage extended part way to the hinge. A threaded fastener advances readily down the bore until the unthreaded portion is reached. The fastener, as it advances in that portion, forces the halves apart, rupturing the hinge and anchoring the device.

Abstract: The impact-type anchor (1) consists of a metal sleeve (2) provided with a throughgoing passage (3) tapering towards a leading end of the sleeve, into which bore an expander body (5) can be driven to expand the impact-type anchor. The throughgoing passage (3) has a rear cylindrical portion provided with an internal thread (4) as well as a tapering portion. So that the metal sleeve can be inexpensively manufactured while providing pull-out values that are the same as those of a metal sleeve made of solid material, the metal sleeve is stamped out of a sheet metal blank and then rolled up to form a sleeve which is joined at its seam. Furthermore, in order to form the tapering internal bore the expandable legs (7) have a first section (7a) that is bent inwards and a second section (7b) that is bent onto the outer face of the first section. The two sections (7a, 7b) resting one against the other are connected non-displaceably to one another, for example, by means of a punched point (9).
