  • Patent number: 11879503
Abstract: A stiff key provides rigid coupling between a pair of shafts, such as a motor shaft and a rotary position sensor. The key may have a main body and a protrusion from the main body, such as from a middle portion of the main body. One of the protrusion or the main body may engage one part of one of the shafts being coupled together, and the other of the protrusion or the main body may engage a part of the other of the shafts. For example the protrusion may be in a keyway of one shaft and the main body may engage a recess or flat of the other shaft. The key and the coupling may be used in applications where space is at a premium, for example in a missile.

  • Patent number: 5344252
Abstract: This key comprises a pair of elongated blocks each having a tapered recess; a tapered pin adapted to be inserted in a tubular tapered portion which is formed by bringing the pair of blocks together in such a manner that the tapered recesses confront, and mutually displaceable in the axial direction; and a clamping member adapted to be screwed into a threaded portion provided on one end of the tapered pin or the tubular tapered portion. The key obtained by assembling these parts can be fitted into a key groove provided between a driving member and a driven member. The clamping member is rotated to mutually displace the tapered pin with respect to the tubular tapered portion in the axial direction, thereby separating the blocks from each other, thus pressing the outer walls of the blocks against the inner wall of the key groove. As a result, the key is firmly fitted into the key groove, and the drive member and the driven member can be securely coupled together with a higher reliability.

  • Patent number: 5112160
Abstract: This invention relates to a rock anchor which includes an elongated element which is composed of a plurality of elongated tension members which are arranged around the long axis of the elongated element in a circumferential spaced relationship to provide a passage through the elongated element, slots between the tension members which extend over the length of the elongated element, an anchor at one end of the elongated element, for holding the element in a hole and a tensioning arrangement at the other end of the element for use in tensioning the elongated element in the hole. The anchor is preferably a wedge anchor and the invention extends to a method of anchoring the rock anchor in a hole by means of a rod which is passed up into the elongated element from the mouth of the hole to tension the elongated element and activate the wedge anchor to lock the anchor against the side of the hole to hold the elongated element in the hole under tension.

  • Patent number: 4548533
Abstract: A wedge-type fastener which is economical to manufacture and can be installed using known installation tools, such as those used in Europe. The fastener comprises a main body portion having an exterior adapted to be grasped by a tool to hold the same and an insert mounted in its interior keyed to the interior of the main body portion for rotation therewith. A threaded stud having a head keyed to the interior of the insert is also mounted within the body portion having a threaded portion extending out of one end of the body portion. The body portion is closed off at one end by a snap-in cap which also aligns the threaded stud in the body portion and abuts against the insert. The threaded portion of the stud extends through the cap and terminates in a snap-on cap that keeps a threaded nut threaded on the threaded portion of the stud between the first cap and the second cap from running off the stud. • Patent number: 4538940
Abstract: For the progressive transfer of a tension or traction force from a fiber-reinforced plastic anchoring rod 10 to a threaded sleeve 20 surrounding one end of the rod, sawtooth shaped teeth are provided. The inclined flanks 6 of the teeth are increasingly longer as a function of the distance from the end 22 of the rod. The tooth length extension corresponds to the expansion of the rod under the local traction force which, because it becomes lower at each flank, decreases on a step-by-step basis. With this arrangement the rod can be stressed up to its breaking load without causing any damage to the threaded sleeve. This connection is suitable for any staying to fasten a cable to an anchoring element.

  • Patent number: 4537542
Abstract: A wedge-type low profile fastener is disclosed which is adapted to be inserted into aligned apertures in a pair of abutting surfaces. A hex head is provided on the fastener which is engageable by a tool to rotate the same. Such rotation moves a screw having a pair of spaced wires coupled thereto with a spreader between the wires. As the screw is moved, the wires move along the spreader wedging the spreader between the wires. This moves the wires outwardly against the non-accessible surfaces of the apertures thereby holding the fastener secure in the apertures until the wedging action is removed. The fastener presents a low profile so that the hex head does not stick out too far while retaining a predetermined grip range for the wires.

  • Patent number: 4518290
Abstract: In order to produce conical undercutting of the bore when the anchoring bolt is driven into a previously bored hole with a percussion drill, the insertion end of the bolt has a slot into which the thin end of a wedge is inserted. Hard metal pegs set in radial bores near the insertion end of the bolt at diametrically opposite places on the periphery of the bolt protrude slightly and, as the bolt is driven into place, the wedge spreads its insertion end and causes the hard metal pegs to undercut the walls of the bore more and more as the bolt is set in place. A conical undercutting of the bar thus results.
