Reciprocating Die Patents (Class 413/43)
  • Publication number: 20110215099
Abstract: A metal closure is described, in the form of a foil lid (1) bonded to a metal annular component (such as a container body or separate intermediate ring). The foil lid (1) and annular component are made of dissimilar metals, with the closure adapted to prevent bimetallic corrosion at the interface between the dissimilar metals of the foil lid and the annular component. The closure is adapted such that the lid comprises a peripheral wall which is upstanding from the annular component such that a gap is maintained between the annular component and an exposed metal peripheral edge of the lid. Further aspects of the invention include: i. a method for making such a metal closure; and ii. an apparatus for making such a metal closure.

  • Patent number: 6421894
Abstract: The present invention provides, in assembling an anti-vibration device having an inner cylinder, an outer cylinder, a rubber elastic member joining them and an intermediate cylinder fitted to the outer cylinder and internally forming a liquid chamber, an assembling apparatus for caulking an end of the outer cylinder while suppressing the occurrence of buckling without causing cracks, breakage or the like. This assembling device has a press-fit device to press-fit an internal unit joined with the inner cylinder and the intermediate cylinder through a rubber elastic member to the outer cylinder within a liquid tank, a caulking device to caulk an end of the outer cylinder of an assembly completed in press-fitting, and transporting means to transport the assembly from the press fit device to the caulking device. The caulking device can perform caulking in two stages of caulking.

  • Patent number: 5234137
Abstract: A disc for mounting a valve onto a spray can which is capable of engaging a standard-sized protective cap such that the cap fills all the space between the disc and the top of the spray can regardless of variations in the thickness of the disc or the seal. The disc has a central body portion and an annular groove disposed at the periphery of the central body portion. The bead of the spray can sits within the annular groove. A seal is positioned between the annular groove and the bead. A spacer is positioned in the annular groove such that the spacial relationship between the bead and the annular groove is predetermined, i.e., the distance between the annular groove and the top of the can is a predetermined distance. Consequently, a standard-sized protective cap can be used for spray cans in which the seal thickness and disc thickness vary, wherein the cap fits snugly on the disc and fills the entire space between the disc and the top of the can.

  • Patent number: 5139382
Abstract: A can end double-seaming machine has a seaming head vertically movably mounted on a base and supporting a seaming chuck and a seaming roll. The seaming head is guided for its vertical movement by support posts on the base. Rotors are rotatably threaded on the support posts and rotatable by a motor for lifting and lowering the seaming head. A controller controls the motor to elevate the seaming head upwardly of a predetermined seaming position, then lower the seaming head downwardly of the seaming position, and thereafter elevate the seaming head to the seaming position, thereby positioning the seaming head in the seaming position. Since the seaming head is lowered downwardly of the seaming position and then lifted back to the seaming position, the seaming head is reliably and accurately be brought into the seaming position without a positional error which would otherwise be caused by the backlash between the rotors and the support posts.

  • Patent number: 5026237
Abstract: A crimping tool for attaching a cap member to a container neck flange, including a nest member for axially locating the crimping tool at a predetermined position relative to the cap member; a unitary collet member mounted on the nest member for engaging and crimpingly deforming the cap member about the container neck flange; a sleeve member positioned in circumscribing relationship with the collet member in axially displaceable relationship therewith for engaging a lower portion of the collet member and urging the collet member into crimping relationship with the cap member during axial displacement of the sleeve member relative the collet member; and an axial displacement member mechanically linked to the collet member and the sleeve member for selectively axially displacing the sleeve member relative the collet member is disclosed.
