  • Patent number: 9266140
Abstract: Application of uncured adhesive material in bead ring on a surface using a device that includes a nozzle comprising a nozzle intake port, a nozzle outlet port, and a nozzle cavity connecting and providing fluid communication between the inlet and outlet ports. The nozzle intake port receives uncured adhesive material into the nozzle cavity from a source of uncured adhesive material. The outlet port has an annular shape that forms an annular bead of adhesive material on a surface onto which the nozzle is dispensing adhesive material. The nozzle cavity comprises an annular flow path leading to the annular outlet port and shaped to dispense adhesive material through the outlet port axially. The nozzle comprises inner and outer concentric walls defining the annular flow path therebetween.

  • Patent number: 7975362
Abstract: The invention relates to a processing device for covers (20), wherein processing stations are embodied as individual processing stations (47) provided with, respectively, one tool for one cover. Several of said stations work in parallel for the simultaneous processing of several covers. If need be, stations can also be used wherein several tools form groups which are functionally separate from each other. As a result, the processing precision and production speed of the objects can be increased.

A pass (4) opening towards the transfer surface (2a, 3a) is provided in the material transfer head (1) and is fed with sealant from a continuously operating pump device (P1). An open-top interior (8) surrounded by the transfer surface (2a, 3a) and provided in the material transfer head (1), which is connected to a backflow pipe (9) for excess sealant, is, in addition, permanently connected to a vacuum source (P2). Further, a transfer device (18) is provided by which the can end (14) is vertically movable in relation to the transfer surface (2a, 3a). (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 4752172
Abstract: The apparatus of the invention provides a coat of lacquer or varnish on a tear-off cover, which is formed from a thin ferromagnetic metal, has a circumferential supporting lip and is equipped with a tear-off opening made by scoring and/or punching in or out the cover surface. To provide the coat of lacquer or varnish the cover is moved through an electric coating tank, a washing tank and drying zone with the plane of the cover oriented substantially vertically while being supported exclusively on the surface of the inner wall of the supporting lip. The entire surface of the cover is completely covered by the lacquer or varnish coating except for a small portion on the inner wall of the supporting lip which is positioned inside the closed container in a folded seam and/or covered by a sealing material.

  • Patent number: 4650387
Abstract: Compositions from 25% to 65% of a synthetic rubber block copolymer and from 75% to 35% plasticizer by weight are heated and mixed and applied, usually with a curing agent, to the lid or cover of a container such as a drum or pail. The application may take place while the lid or cover is revolved and the heated mixture is flowed on. The synthetic rubbers may be of the groups comprising SBS rubber, SIS rubber, or S-EB-S rubber. The plasticizer may be from the group comprising paraffin, oils or waxes, polyethylene, polypropylene or ethyl vinyl alcohol.Apparatus is also shown and described for implementing the application of the compositions to the lid or cover as it is revolved. If a groove is formed in the cover before reception of the composition, the apparatus extrudes or flows it into the groove and then the flowed-in material is permitted to set.

  • Patent number: 4419168
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for handling gasket-forming material. This material is usually supplied in tubular cartridge form and is dispensed to a screen with a porous pattern which shapes the material to the desired gasket-configuration. The material is spread on the screen and forced through to the other side where the gasket pattern is applied to an adjacent transfer surface of a transfer pad. This pad with the pattern on the transfer surface is moved to a mateable surface of a workpiece located on a support spaced from the screen. The gasket-forming material is then transferred to the mateable surface. The gasket-forming material is dispensed from the cartridge with the aid of a cartridge holder having an opening at one end to receive a spout of the cartridge and having a plunger at the other end with a plunger rod extending outwardly therefrom. A fluid-operated cylinder is aligned with the plunger rod and has a piston connected with the rod.

  • Patent number: 4353775
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for applying a bead of gasket-forming material to a mateable surface of a workpiece. The apparatus includes a source of gasket-forming material and a screen having a predetermined pattern conforming to the desired bead of the gasket-forming material. A spreader applies the gasket-forming material to one side of the screen and the gasket pattern is then formed on an adjacent transfer surface of a transfer pad on the opposite side of the screen. Means are provided for moving the pad with the pattern on the transfer surface and engaging it with the mateable surface of a workpiece mounted on a support spaced from the screen, thereby forming a bead of gasket-forming material on the mateable surface. The transfer surface is moved through an arc of 180.degree. when moving between the screen and the workpiece surface.
