  • Patent number: 11708227
Abstract: A sweep auger system having a driveshaft with auger flighting and a backboard extending a length from an inward end to an outward end. An input of a gearbox is connected to an outward end of the drive shaft and a sweep wheel having a plurality of notches, arms and feet is connected to an output of the gearbox. A drive shield is placed around a rearward side of the sweep wheel that forms a channel that is configured to capture grain agitated by the drive wheel. A guide plate is connected to the gearbox and covers a portion of the gearbox. The guide plate angles from an upper outward edge downward and forward to a lower inward edge that is configured to urge the grain captured within the channel of the drive shield to move in front of the sweep auger system reducing grain left in the grain bin.

  • Patent number: 6254329
Abstract: A sweep auger apparatus is radially disposed within a circular bin for moving a free-flowing granular material across the floor of the bin towards the center of the bin. A motor is connected to the radial inner end of the auger shaft to rotate the auger flighting about its horizontal axis. A drive wheel is connected to the radial outer end of the auger shaft for supporting the outer end of the auger shaft and for revolving the auger around the central vertical axis of the bin. The improved sweep auger includes panels or a tube connected to the backboard of the auger so as to reside beneath the auger flighting, and thereby minimize the amount of granular material left on the floor as the sweep auger revolves around the bin floor. The panels are adjustably mounted to accommodate variations in the level of the bin floor.

  • Patent number: 6039647
Abstract: A grain sweeper mechanism having an auger supported in cantilevered fashion in front of a drive mechanism having a pair of wheels. A weight stack carried by the drive mechanism counterbalances the weight of the auger such that generally all weight is borne by the front drive wheel of the drive mechanism. The front drive wheel is operatively coupled with the outer end portion of the auger for receiving rotational power therefrom. An opening in a shroud of the auger extends generally the entire length of the auger. The drive mechanism is coupled with the auger shroud by way of an attaching mechanism which includes a slide member, channel member, threaded member and nut which allows vertical adjustment of the auger while hindering lateral movement of the drive mechanism with respect to the auger.

  • Patent number: 5511925
Abstract: A bin unloading apparatus includes a housing attachable to a bin floor. The housing has an interior cavity, a rotatable lower portion with an intake opening, and a stationary upper portion with an output opening. A sweep auger is secured to the rotatable lower portion of the housing. The sweep auger has a first end extending through the intake opening and a second end. The rotatable portion of the housing rotates as the sweep auger moves radially about the housing. A discharge auger trough is secured to the stationary upper portion of the housing. A discharge auger is disposed in the discharge auger trough. The discharge auger has a first end extending through the output opening and a second end. As the sweep auger moves radially around the housing material is moved by the sweep auger through the intake opening into the interior cavity of the housing. A vertical lift auger is disposed in the interior cavity of the housing having a lower end and an upper end.

  • Patent number: 5468122
Abstract: A process for uniformly removing wet grain in a layer of relatively uniform thickness from a wet grain container. Wet grain charged into the grain container is supported on an perforated or air-pervious floor supported above the bottom of the grain container. A continuous upward flow of ambient air travels in a path through the air-pervious floor and upwardly through the wet grain mass. A layer of wet grain of relatively uniform thickness is removed from the area immediately above the floor and discharged from the grain container for further processing such as heated-air drying.

Abstract: Self-propelled steerable apparatus for removing material, such as sludge, from the bottom surface of a liquid storage tank for disposition elsewhere comprises a support platform and a reversely rotatable motor-driven auger mounted below the support platform and cooperating therewith to define a space for receiving sludge when the rotatable auger is engaged with the surface. A motor-driven pump mounted on the support platform is operable to receive sludge from the auger and deliver it through a discharge hose to a remote location. Rotation of the auger delivers the sludge to the pump and propels the apparatus across the surface. A remotely controllable steering mechanism on the support platform has a tail wheel which engages the surface and steers the apparatus along a desired path. A winch-controlled back-haul cable is connected to the apparatus to periodically stop forward movement of the apparatus while the auger is still rotating so that the sludge can be more efficiently removed.

Abstract: A telescopic auger includes a first drive tube and a second drive member coaxial with the drive tube and slidable inside the drive tube in telescopic manner. A flight is attached to the drive tube in helical arrangement. This arrangement can be used in a bin sweep which allows the sweep to be adjusted in length to accommodate bins of different diameter. The sweep section is driven across the ground by a drive track at an outer end of the auger section.
