  • Patent number: 4319863
Abstract: A method for harvesting, transporting and storing grain utilizes small readily moved containers or bins in combination with a specially designed trailer mechanism to allow grain to be readily stored, as it is harvested, at the harvest site and then at a more convenient time transported to the place of ultimate use, sale or to centralized storage. The method utilizes a compact bin which may be stored in the field and yet be safe from weather and vermin, which may utilize additional drying mechanisms or which may utilize air drying of the grain. The bin is mounted on two permanent I-beam rails which are designed to mesh with roller trucks on a specially designed pick-up trailer. The pick-up trailer utilizes a frame having rails on which the roller trunks are carried. The trailer has a hydraulic lift mechanism to tilt the trailer to engage the leading edge of the I-beams of the bin to tilt the bin so that it can be self-loaded onto the trailer by backing the trailer underneath the bin.

  • Patent number: 4318658
Abstract: The side rails of the chassis of a fixed bed truck are cut at the front end of the rear springs and pivotally interconnected using hinges incorporating hinge pins which are positioned below those side rails. A deck is secured to the rear section of the chassis for movement between a rearwardly inclined position and a lowered position in which it extends over the front section of the chassis. An apron is pivotally mounted on the rear end of the deck for movement between an extended ramp position and a retracted position in which it depends downwardly from the deck. Hydraulic apparatus are provided for tilting the deck, extending the apron and latching the deck in its lowered position. The hinges and the latching systems are constructed so that the truck can still be driven safely even after structural failure of both hinge pins.

  • Patent number: 4273217
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wheelchair of a bus, which is constructed from plates such as metal sheets connected with hinges and from power supplying devices such as hydraulic cylinders. Some of the power supplying devices work to fold and unfold the plates, and the other power supplying device works to lift up and down the plates. When the plates are folded, they form stairs that enable passengers to easily get on and off the bus. When the plates are unfolded, they form a lift which enables handicapped passengers in wheelchairs to get on and off the bus by the power supplying device.

  • Patent number: 4249851
Abstract: A vehicle for transporting vehicles and/or containers, includes a driver cab and a rear axle. A loading platform is mounted on the vehicle and is movable between transportation and loading positions. The platform has front and rear sections. The rear section projects in a cantilevered fashion beyond the rear axle of the vehicle and adapted to be lowered to the ground for loading and unloading vehicles and/or containers. The rear section is bent downward with respect to the front section at an angle. A push-pull unit is mounted on the front section of the loading platform. A tipping support mechanism is mounted on the vehicle directly above the rear axle for pivotally supporting the platform. A tail wheel is mounted to the rear section of the platform. The rear section further includes a tiltable, drive on ramp upon which the vehicles and/or containers are moved during loading and unloading operations. A trailer coupling mechanism is directly connected to the tipping support mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4235399
Abstract: A cargo ramp configured for stowage on a cargo carrying vessel and deployment between a cargo opening or the outer boundary of a cargo deck and the surface of a cargo handling region such as a runway, dock or pier. The cargo ramp includes two hinged together ramp sections having a motor-driven wheel assembly at the lower terminus of the ramp and a vessel-to-ramp interface at the upper terminus of the ramp. Deployment and retrieval of the cargo ramp is effected through predetermined sequential operation of motor-driven deployment wheels located beneath the upper ramp section, actuators for operation of the hinge and the motor-driven wheel assembly at the lower terminus of the ramp. A power operated deployment mechanism contained in the ramp-to-vessel interface permits vertical adjustment of the upper terminus of the ramp when required.
