Weight balance is checked and a counterweight is placed on an appropriate notch in the counterbalance weight arm. The flat screen television or heavy object is then lifted to the correct height for wall attachment.

The assembly has a base frame that is spaced from the roof edge over which the worker may fall. When the assembly is in operative position each arm has its lower end, which usually has teeth, close to the roof surface. A counterweight is mounted on the opposite side of the base frame.

Traction weights are mounted on a portion of the weight bar that extends to the rear of the tubular receptacle. A retainer plate is attached to the weight bar by at least one bolt that clamps the traction weights between the tubular receptacle and the retainer plate. The main frame does not carry a counterbalance weight, but rather has a latch which grips a ground-mounted anchor for anchoring the rear end of the main frame during vertical movement of the lift assembly.

    Abstract: A supplementary weight for ballasting a vehicle can be adapted to be hooked onto a carrier component. The weight includes an entry opening which is bordered by an upper leg and a lower leg. The upper leg is supported on the carrier component which projects into the entry opening. Generally vertical bores extend in the upper leg and the lower leg, and the leg bores are aligned with a corresponding vertical bore in the carrier component. An attaching bolt is received by these bores when the weight is mounted on the carrier component. The attaching bolt has a head, a shank and a threaded section. The attaching bolt is screwed into an axially movable tensioning device which is mounted inside the lower leg, thus clamping the carrier component to the upper leg.

A lifting mechanism controls the vertical movement of the clamping mechanism and the stabilizing mechanism.

Load-lifting forks at each rack end can be lowered into an aisle from above and then, with a movement of the crane, inserted below a cassette on either side of the aisle to remove it, center it in the aisle, lift it above the racks and transport it to another aisle for lowering into a work place or storing it in a different place.

The head section and tail section are rotably mounted to each other. Supports or forks are also provided which protrude from the head section and are used to support the objects to the transported. The apparatus has a leveling system which includes movable counterweights attached to chains. The movable counterweights balance the effect of the objects that the apparatus supports, keeping it level in the horizontal direction. The backstand can be folded down into the head section and the tail section folded onto the head section. Prior to or after use, as the apparatus is a lightweight, compact system, it can be transported in a pickup truck.
