Handlers With Spring Devices Patents (Class 414/913)
  • Patent number: 10093440
Abstract: In one example of a vertical load case packer, guide rods provide horizontal adjustment of a tipping conveyor assembly to position the tipping conveyor assembly at a desired distance from the at least one bucket assembly. In operation, an indexing assembly advances case(s) into the tipping conveyor assembly. Side belts in the tipping conveyor assembly move and grip the case(s). A pivot rotates the tipping conveyor from a position wherein an open end of a case is oriented upwardly to a position wherein the open end is oriented horizontally to receive the product. Each bucket assembly receives product and delivers it to a case. A sliding bottom plate in the bucket assembly supports horizontally loaded product and advances the product into a case. A pusher plate prevents product from withdrawing from the case as the sliding bottom plate is withdrawn and further inserts the product into the case if needed.

  • Patent number: 8905699
Abstract: A pipe handling apparatus has a frame, a boom pivotally connected to the frame so as to be movable between a first position and a second position, an arm extending outwardly of the boom when the boom is in the second position, a gripper affixed to the end of the arm opposite the boom, a first line having a first end affixed to the boom, a second line interconnected to an opposite end of the first line and connected to the frame, and an actuator interconnected to the first and second lines. The actuator changes an angular relationship of the first and second lines so as to selectively tension the lines. The second line includes a first cable offset from linear alignment with the first line and a second cable extending in angular relationship with the first cable.

  • Patent number: 8876452
Abstract: The invention relates to a pipe handling apparatus that delivers and positions tubulars at a wellhead and a device for assisting pivotal movement of a boom relative to a base of the apparatus. A pneumatic spring assembly is pivotally connected between the boom and base. During operation, the pneumatic spring assembly urges the boom from a first position to a second position and resists movement of the boom from the second position to the first position. A pneumatic reservoir may be attached to the pipe handling apparatus. A gas-charging assembly fluidically connects the pneumatic spring assembly and pneumatic reservoir and allows the pneumatic reservoir to vary the pneumatic pressure within the pneumatic spring assembly. Sensors mounted in the pipe handling apparatus may provide feedback to a controller which may automatically adjust the amount of pneumatic pressure within the pneumatic springs for ideal performance of the springs.

  • Patent number: 5392829
Abstract: An apparatus and method for aligning objects, particularly logs, into a loading region are provided. The apparatus comprises a stationary first side wall and a second side wall having a section that is movable with respect to the first wall. A lower floor section is provided between the two side walls. The side walls and the lower floor co-operate to define a loading region having an inlet and an outlet. The loading region is expandable from an initial minimum width sufficiently narrow to prevent misalignment of logs introduced through the inlet to a maximum width. Movement of the second movable side wall expands the loading region to create a gap between one side wall and aligned logs arranged against the other side wall. The gap is sufficiently narrow to prevent misalignment of logs introduced into the gap to ensure an aligned and ordered stack of logs within the loading region.

  • Patent number: 5209628
Abstract: An apparatus for stowing and extending for removal a towing dolly used for towing automotive vehicles. The apparatus is formed from a generally vertical support stand which is secured to the bed of a towing vehicle. Pivotally connected to the support stand is a first arm having a range of motion extending from a near vertical storage position to a near horizontal load/unload position. Pivotally attached to the first arm is a second arm which is in a near vertical position during loading and remains in a near vertical position as the first arm is pivoted into the storage position, such that the two arms are now nearly parallel. This relationship is maintained by a gas spring pivotally connected to the support stand and the second arm such that the gas spring maintains a generally parallel configuration with the first arm. A dolly mount is attached to the end of the second arm for releasably securing a towing dolly to the vertical arm.

  • Patent number: 4354790
Abstract: An apparatus for feeding articles to a work station, for example for feeding electrical terminals to a work station between the co-operating dies of a crimping machine, has a first shaft driven by a main shaft coupled through a clutch to a motor and a second shaft is arranged to be driven by the first shaft in an oscillatory motion having a forward motion and a return motion. A cam is fixed to the first shaft and a cam arm having a cam follower is secured to the second shaft. The second shaft has abutment element which engage against an adjustable stop to limit the extent of return motion of the second shaft, the adjustable stop being readily accessible for manual adjustment. A driven arm is connected to the second shaft for moving a feed device to the work station and the angular position of the driven arm relative to the second shaft is adjustable whereby the forward limit of motion of the feed device can be controlled.

  • Patent number: 4236344
Abstract: A toy having a pivotable component in the form of a construction wheel loader having a shovel, the toy including a manually actuable handle cocking a spring coupled to a slidable member having a rack portion for operating the shovel. Movement of the slidable member during cocking of the handle simultaneously moves a coupler connected to a piston slidable axially within a stationary closed ended cylinder. The piston has a minute aperture in the face thereof with a larger aperture in the skirt thereof with the apertures being on opposite sides of the piston seal. A locking lever coacts with the coupler for retaining the parts in the powered position against the force of the spring. Manual release of the locking lever permits the spring to urge against the slidable member with the two apertures in the piston providing speed regulation during movement of the piston into the cylinder for moving the slidable member gradually.
