  • Patent number: 8618690
Abstract: A wind power hybrid rotor of a wind power plant for converting wind energy into drive energy is provided. For a utilization of the wind energy in a manner as efficient as possible, a wind power hybrid rotor is provided with a cross-flow rotor, a guide device and a Magnus rotor. The cross-flow rotor is supported so as to be rotatable about a rotational axis and has a plurality of axially extending rotor blades. The guide device has a housing segment partially enclosing the cross-flow rotor in the circumferential direction in such a manner that the cross-flow rotor can be driven by inflowing wind. The Magnus rotor axis is arranged within the cross-flow rotor, and the Magnus rotor axis extends in the direction of the rotational axis. The Magnus rotor has a closed lateral surface and is rotatably driven about the Magnus rotor axis by a drive device.

  • Patent number: 8438949
Abstract: A rotator drive connection for a gas turbine engine accessory box has a shaft connected to be driven by a main shaft in a gas turbine engine through a gear train. A first drive connection allows selective drive of the shaft. A biased drive member includes a second drive connection selectively brought into contact with the first drive connection to allow rotation of the main shaft. The biased drive member biases the second drive connection out of contact with the first drive connection. A gas turbine engine accessory box and a method of borescopic inspection are also disclosed and claimed.

  • Patent number: 6382909
Abstract: A machine with a rotary turning apparatus in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention includes a housing with at least one end wall, at least one bearing assembly, a shaft, a passage, a pair of shoulders, an engagement device, and a biasing device. The shaft is mounted for rotation in the housing and on the bearing assembly. The passage extends through the wall to provide access to one end of the shaft. The engagement device has an end which is shaped to mate with the one end of the shaft and is mounted for movement in the passage between the pair of shoulders which are located on the wall in the passage. The biasing device is positioned between one of the shoulders and the collar which extends at least partially around the engagement device. The biasing device biases the one end of the engagement device away from engagement with the one end of the shaft. By compressing the biasing device, the end of the engagement device can be mated with the end of the shaft for manual rotation.
