A motor includes: a stator; a consequent pole rotor including a rotor core and a magnet; a casing housing the stator and the rotor; a shaft including a non-magnetic material and fixed to the rotor; and heat dissipation blades that are a first heat dissipation promoting means that rotates with the shaft. This promotes heat dissipation through a heat dissipation path from an inside of the motor through the shaft, preventing problems due to overheat in the motor.

  • Patent number: 9581132
Abstract: A wind turbine blade is configured such that the lift force from the blade airfoil is always normal, or nearly normal, to the shaft torque. This condition maximizes energy conversion. This objective may be achieved by a) having the airfoil chord always aligned to the actual wind direction (subject only to small angle of attack variations), and b) slowing the turbine rotation rate so that no blade twist is needed. As a result, blade tip speed due to shaft rotation is less than the wind speed, and preferably much less. This low tip speed eliminates any hazard to birds. The lift force from the blade airfoil directly drives the torque on the shaft, so the control problem simplifies to adjusting the blade angle of attack to keep the lift constant across varying wind speeds. For most airfoils, a slightly negative angle of attack results in zero lift, so this simple approach has a ready fail-safe condition.

Abstract: A low head water turbine comprising a runner having a cylindrical outer surface and a plurality of similar blades similarly pivotably secured along their inner sides to the outer surface of the runner so as to pivot in the direction of rotation of the runner between a closed position lying adjacent the outer surface of the runner and an open position at an angle thereto. A housing having end walls and a rounded side wall extending therebetween, completely encases the runner and its blades. The runner is eccentrically mounted to end walls of the housing for rotation about a horizontal axis so that the cylindrical outer surface is spaced closer to an upper portion of the housing side wall and farther from a lower portion. A water inlet opening is located in a lower, forward portion of the housing, below the axis of rotation of the runner. A water outlet opening is located in a lower, rearward portion of the housing.

Abstract: This invention primarily relates to means to convey fluid from a moving location to a fixed location formerly achieved by the utilization of such means as a flexible hose. The invention has particular relevance to desludge systems where settled sludge take up means is caused to traverse the floor of a settling tank or vessel and transmit the sludge via a hose to a disposal point. The invention provides improved means replacing flexible hoses and further can provide means to motivate the traveling sludge take up means.

  • Patent number: 6474936
Abstract: Blower designs for vented enclosures include an impeller having a plurality of blades. A plurality of one way valves are interleaved between the blades to permit substantial airflow only in one direction. One valve design incorporates flaps coupled to either the blades or the impeller body with spring loaded hinges. Another valve design incorporates a flexible flaps coupled to either the blades or the impeller body. In one embodiment, the one-way valves reside on an insertable hub disposed within an inner periphery of the impeller such that the valves and blades are interleaved. The valves close to restrict air flow when the impeller rotational speed is below a threshold range. The valves open to permit air flow when the rotational speed exceeds the threshold range.

  • Patent number: 6276895
Abstract: A fan has an associated centrifugal mechanism and a shutter, comprising a plurality of pivoted vanes and a central vane pivotally interconnected with a pair of heavy tie rods. The centrifugal mechanism is driven by the fan propeller and comprises a hermetic housing wherein are located, symmetrical spaced apart in rapport to the fan axis, at least a pair of radial sliding masses operatively connected with flexible cables to an axial sliding reciprocating actuator which is disposed at proximity of the shutter central vane. When the fan starts to operate in either direction by an electric motor, the radial masses slide radially by centrifugal action and pull the axial reciprocating actuator away from the central vane, allowing the shutter heavy tie rods, to open the shutter. When the fan stops, an internal spring housed within the axial sliding reciprocating actuator pushes it against the central vane causing the closing of the shutter.

Abstract: A wind turbine has an internal rotor carrying a plurality of turbine vanes in a circular path between an inlet opening and an exhaust opening. The inlet opening includes a stationary dividing vane that delivers one portion of the inlet airflow to a primary flowpath traversing the turbine vanes at two locations. The stationary dividing vane also delivers a second portion of the inlet airflow to a second flowpath which drives the turbine vanes as those vanes move in the part of the circular path from the exhaust opening toward the inlet opening. The turbine vanes may be mounted so as to have variable angular positions in different portions of the circular path. Turbine vane position can be controlled either magnetically or mechanically. Where vane position is varied magnetically, a plurality of permanent magnets with suitable controls adjust the turbine vane position. Where vane position is varied mechanically, a pair of cam arrangements may be employed.
