  • Patent number: 8585353
Abstract: A variable inlet area turbine employs a volute with a discharge area for flow of exhaust gas carried in the volute into a turbine inlet area. A flexible dividing wall having an end is movable along a path defined adjacent the turbine inlet area and transitioning in a smooth curve into an outer wall of the volute. The dividing wall is selectively positionable by insertion and withdrawal along the path to vary the discharge area from substantially closed to substantially open.

Abstract: A centrifugal compressor includes an impeller, a casing, an impeller housing portion, an inlet port, an annular flow passage provided around the impeller, a discharge port communicated with the annular flow passage, an annular chamber provided around the inlet port, a downstream slot communicating a downstream end of the annular chamber with the impeller housing portion, and an upstream slot communicating an upstream end of the annular chamber with the inlet port. The downstream slot draws a one-cycle curved line pulsating in an axial direction of the inlet port. A most upstream point of the downstream slot is located at an upstream end portion of impeller blades of the impeller when seen along a direction perpendicular to a rotary shaft of the impeller. According to the centrifugal compressor, it becomes possible to expand its operating range by improving a surging restriction effect brought by more effective casing treatment.

Abstract: The invention relates to an ecological thrusting device enabling optimum thrust independent from the outside environment. It consists of a special Francis turbine (1) from which the fluid is axially ejected at the outlet of the vane (1?), at a relative speed W2t, and is collected in a defined free space of a straight radial pump (2). Under the action of the centrifugal force, the limit of the current lines forms a fixed virtual barrier Yt, thus preventing the centrifuged fluid from reaching the bottom of the pump in the free space area MNBCPQ, thereby eliminating the antagonistic force exerted on said zone. As a result, the thrusting force exerted on the turbine by the fluid remains intact. As the fluid leaves the pump, it is axially reinjected at a relative speed W2p into a tank (4) for resupplying the turbine. There is therefore an energy exchange between the pumps and the turbine that form a closed circuit, the entire system being driven by a motor (10).

Abstract: A cross-flow fan includes a plurality of fan blades. The fan blade has an inner edge portion arranged on an inner circumferential side and an outer edge portion arranged on an outer circumferential side. In the fan blade, a blade surface extending between the inner edge portion and the outer edge portion is formed. As the fan rotates, an air flow which flows between the inner edge portion and the outer edge portion is generated over the blade surface. The fan blade has such a blade cross-sectional shape that a recess is formed in the blade surface. The recess is arranged at a position closer to the outer edge portion than to the inner edge portion and formed to extend from one end to the other end of the fan blade in a direction of a rotation axis of the fan.

Abstract: A power turbine employs a plurality of turbine blades which allows the turbine to regulate pressure and ventilate for a greater ability to generate power without back pressure of the power source. It also relieves much of the stress on the uni-body construction. The vent ports (30) work at various times to transfer pressure naturally from one compartment to another, greatly increasing the balance of pressure throughout the process within the turbine.

The cover is disposed on the supporting base to form a fan blade accommodating space, the fan blade is disposed inside the accommodating space and is pivotally connected to the supporting base. In addition, the supporting base includes a coupling hole which is disposed inside the accommodating space. The coupling element passes through the coupling hole in order to have the supporting base installed on the back plate. Whereby, a bottom area of the fan is reduced by having both the coupling hole and the fan blade disposed inside the accommodating space, so that less space of circuit layout for a circuit board is occupied by the fan.
