Abstract: A centrifugal pump comprising a pump housing made of injection-molded plastics with a first housing part, which is designed as a single piece with a suction connection and a pressure connection, and comprises a sealing area, by means of which said first housing part is joined in a liquid-tight manner to a second housing part, that receives an electric motor, and a motor housing part. In this centrifugal pump, very good leak tightness is achieved with minimum number of parts, minimum weight and minimum assembly costs with universal applicability without impairing the visual overall impression of the centrifugal pump. This objective is achieved in that the second housing part is made of a material that is permeable to laser light of a wavelength or a wavelength range, and the first housing part is made of a material that absorbs the same laser light, and the first housing part and the second housing part are heat-sealed to one another.

A fan with improved vibration and noise damping can be achieved by elastically suspending the fan wheel within a first ring formed of a hard plastic, the first ring having a tubular extension formed of a softer plastic, and serving to mechanically connect the first ring to a surrounding annular carrier part. Optionally, the first ring and extension unit can include a spring element. Preferably, the first ring and tubular extension are produced by a multi-component forming technology such as two-plastic technology. A first end of the spring clip seal operatively engages the inner peripheral surface of the transition duct. A second end of the spring clip seal is indirectly attached to the liner by an insert disposed therebetween. The spring clip seal can be attached to the insert by any kind of welding process that does not involve melting of the spring clip seal and the insert, such as fillet welding. The insert and the liner can be attached in a similar manner. Because fillet welds are relatively easy to cut, the spring clip, insert and liner can be separated without the need for cutting any of these individual components. In a further embodiment, an airflow propulsion device for a floor care machine may include a motor having a drive shaft, a fan operatively coupled to the drive shaft, and a fan housing disposed about the fan and having a transition passage proximate the radially-outward ends of the vanes of the fan.

  • Patent number: 6754076
Abstract: Electronic system components are cooled using a field configurable pump comprising a selectable plurality of identical or nearly identical modular pump units. The pump units are disposed in a stacked arrangement and are fluidly connected to adjacent modular pump units via a removable coupling, preferably one of the quick-disconnect variety. Each modular pump unit comprises a housing, an impeller and a sealing mechanism. When disposed in a stack the combined pump structure is driven by a single motor. In this fashion, pump structures may be employed which are adaptable to heat flux demands imposed by the electronic components.

Abstract: In a method for welding together two parts (12, 13), especially of a turbomachine, which are exposed to different temperatures, of which the first part (12) consists of a steel and the second part (13) consists of a nickel-base alloy which contains elements which are unfavorable for welding to steel, such as for example Nb, a crack-free welded joint is achieved by the fact that first of all an intermediate layer (18), in which the amount of unfavorable elements is progressively reduced from the inside outward, is applied to the joining surface (17) which is provided for the welding, and that then the second part (13), which has been provided with the intermediate layer (18), is welded to the first part (12).

  • Patent number: 6439835
Abstract: An improved pump shell for a multistage metal working pump includes a plurality of pump shell units housed in series within a hollow cylindrical casing and has the impellers driven by a shaft. Each pump shell unit has a inner shell which forms a holding end at one side and a sealing flange at another side. The holding end of one pump shell may align and engage precisely and easily with the sealing flange of an adjacent pump shell unit to form a smooth fluid passage from the inlet of the impeller through the inner shell so that pumping efficiency may be enhanced with less turbulence. The sealing flange, holding end and the casing also form a close annular compartment for holding a seal ring inside to provide effective sealing function. The pump shell may be produced by stamping at low cost.
